I did watch a lot more of the 2016 Olympics than I expected though that was mostly because I was unemployed at the time. Used the VPN to see the BBC streams which definitely helped (more sport and less bullshit than Seven).

For me personally, my interest in the Olympics tends to ebb and flow with the host city. I don't really get in to them if the time differences are insanely different from ours.

Problem is the 'time zone' is always shit now because events regardless of location get scheduled around what's good for NBCUniversal in America.

The World Cup is like that too but scheduled for what's good for European TV. Hence the 2014 finals being in the afternoon Brazil time, primetime in Europe, the usual arseh*le time in Australia.

Commonwealth Games - does anyone apart from the athletes, their families and the organizing committee actually care?

Monarchists like to pretend it means something. They're a ****ing joke.

Do that again, and it's a warning.

Football is good. It's good for the young guys.

There's an U/20 and U/17 World Cup for that.

It's the Olympic Games. It is supposed to be the pinnacle. Not some hybrid U/23 comp where you can have 3 players that aren't U/23.

People were glued to their TVs for the men's 100m sprint in Rio, not the 'men's 100m sprint minus 5 of the finalists because they are older than 23'.

That being said I'd vote for Perth re-hosting it. Most of the facilities we built for it in 1962 haven't been upgraded since.

Perry Lakes Stadium has been upgraded now to a housing estate, Beatty Park hasn't changed much though.
