Reminds of the old "Climb the ladder to suc(cess)" joke.
One of my all time favourites.

Up there with..

'I found my first grey pubic hair today'

'it was in a kebab'

as long as you mention how I rid the club of co-captaincy bullshit you can say whatever!
Yeah I'll pay that. (Not that I'm offering an opinion on such matters)

EAST SIDE HAWKS - LAST FOUR 'ERAs'

7 total seasons
at the helm

Average 1.75 seasons per Captaincy

6 Captains/Co-captains across 4 leadership ‘eras’ since S32

Next Skipper?
Tarkyn_24

It’s been an interesting era on the East Side since Agent93 handed over the reigns at the end of S31 after 7 seasons and a reputation as one of the most polished skippers in the comp.

In fact this piece perfectly aligns to a very specific era at the Eyrie as we pick things up where they announced the ill-conceived Phoenix rebrand ahead of Chipmunk ’s first full season in charge. Now to Chippy’s defence, the thirst for expansion/and or rebranding was at fever pitch as ‘bored’ pockets of the comp (and clearly enough at the Hawks, including Chippy… himself a child of a failed expansion bid) believed it would bring a little more zest to the league. They were wrong it turns out.

But they ploughed on with it anyway, and Chipmunk would weather the storm of angst and Hate, despite losing several club legends and a good helping of credibility as collateral damage. After two seasons under their new moniker, Chippy would take protégé thewizardmelon under his wing for S34, and come S35 he would surprisingly retire, leaving the captaincy duties to his apprentice, who would quickly seek the support of club stalwart por_please_ya as they looked to right the ship.

The two would lead the club through a particularly lean period, with activity well down and the leaders experiencing some inconsistencies with league machinations we shall say, that would see them penalised on more than one occasion. Come late into their second season together at the helm and it would all get a bit much for the wiz, who stepped down and sensationally left for the Old Boys, while Callums_Guns parachuted into the club and looked to assume captaincy duties immediately, having stewarded the club through to a broadly popular and well publicised decision to rebrand back to the Hawks for S37.

A raft of big name recruits headlined by Tarkyn_24 and several Hawk returnees, including previously disgruntled veterans like Biggie & larrikin would resume their posts at the Eyrie in the club's return to the competition as the Hawks, where we now find Guns seeking to recapture the essence of what made those great Hawks sides of yesteryear so special. However current evidence suggests the sugar rush may have been a little short-lived, as the Hawks once again find themselves as one of the more inactive clubs in the comp with some work to do.

Just with a lot more goodwill this time around.

Very good stuff! Looking forward to seeing the other clubs' histories. I know Mount Buller has been pretty stable, so will be interesting to compare.
I remember the bloodthirst of the tens and early twenties

These things are cyclical, Tarks. We're probably overdue a tumultuous period.
You should have seen how many PMs cats2rise sent me trying to gain support for a coup!
Headless, we've been through this.

I was asking you to paint my chicken coop!

Give me my corn muffins.

I recollect a SUC CESSION that happened a long, long time ago.

She could pull a golf ball through a garden hose, pretty sure.
