To be fair, I didn’t leave the Committee role, I was removed and so was our club, outside the rules, for one minor indiscretion that was fixed prior to the cut off date.
Wasn't a shot mate, but probably good to point out. More making a point of how quickly committee turns over and that one turned out to be a very fleeting group of people leading a very big decision that in hindsight appears to have been a very poor one that has altered the league trajectory.

Still yet to receive an explanation or justification for my removal or why it wasn’t challenged by the other reps.

I guess it worked itself out in the end.
To be brutally honest, there was no point trying to wrangle cats to act on that, it was hard enough getting clubs to enter their noms and the process was poorly run. It worked out because we installed an actual admin to fix the shit.

Do you think it's harder now than when you came in? Or do you reckon it's just that a few of these key pillars have fallen away and that makes it harder to hold it all together?
I’d probably tend towards the “pillars” argument.

I think a few clubs hearts have been broken and generally there’s been a lack of courage (us included) to innovate with new ideas and media.

The quality of media back then used to inspire others, but the lack of support for that - whether reflected in awards or simply in “reactions” and engagement - saw a few key pillars become disenfranchised themselves

I wonder which clubs have had the most captains. I think the Demons have had 21 across 38 seasons.
Gumbies on 21 as well!
Amazingly, I currently have the third longest tenure!!! :fearscream::screamcat::fearscream:

There were a couple of seasons where some media was done, only to be landfilled within an hour or two of being created. Other threads were killed off by the self-appointed guardians of the SFA who could make a tenuous link to a 2 page thread from 30 seasons ago, and claim it had all been done before and sabotaged the new threads.

Nothing like having threads killed off before they had a chance, to actively discourage further attempts at media.

I know you've trotted this one out a fair bit, and I don't doubt it. But I feel like this was a very brief period of time under a certain admin. Is that what you find now? Or have you (or teammates) just given up on the idea completely?

I know 'self appointed guardian' is generally a euphemism for me and others like me, but I legitimately doubt I've ever actively aggressively discouraged media of any sort. Perhaps flippant or lightheardedly judgemental, but never discouraging.

Mostly, yes.
Is that what you find now?
No. The current and second last regime were quite willing to let media have a few days to see if it kicked off or not.
Or have you (or teammates) just given up on the idea completely?
In case you hadn't noticed, the Baghdad Bombers have been very active in the media landscape this season, particularly of late.
I know 'self appointed guardian' is generally a euphemism for me
No, you are far from the worst offender
and others like me,
Yes, there are a few. Some of the worst offenders have disappeared in recent times so it is not as overtly aggressive as it was when I first joined.
but I legitimately doubt I've ever actively aggressively discouraged media of any sort.
Can't remember any offhand.
Perhaps flippant or lightheardedly judgemental, but never discouraging.
Can confirm.

I hear the rent is free. 🤗
Correct, we struck liquid gold and have enough money that we no longer charge our rooms out.

If you had read the media piece ...

I have a theory on that too …

🤗FUN BONUS FACT 🤗

Speaking of S33, DID YOU KNOW that just two Committee reps remain from that Class of S33 Committee Room (Jabba73 & damicky), and in fact both of them left prior to their return in S38?

In fact, only one of the two, Jabba73, even represents the same club (Bravo Jabs 👏). While damicky now represents the Rats after repping for the Wonders back in S33.

Can anyone think of anything rather league altering that occurred in S33?

Given it's aged like milk, I would probably distance myself from that decision too if I was them! :eyes:

MWPP again maybe? Not sure. Like most clubs.

Test Tickle was captain back in S29 where we pick up the story of the Bears' modern era. Poor Tickler was not only the last spambear left at the club by this stage, but he was also left to pick up the pieces after Captain JoshWoodenSpoon's ill fated dalliance with gambling his services saw him take a very high profile sabbatical. With the help of vice captain MWPP, Testy managed to guide the club through the shock loss and into S30, where he would bring in experience from left of field. So left of field I'm not sure he was still in the postcode was Bombers escapee Metalcrusher, and the slightly better fitting artist formerly known as U2tigers from the Wonders.

Despite holding on in hope, with the return of JWS from a perma at this stage looking extremely unlikely t
he MWPP era commenced. It was a unique one as with Bears heart and soul JWS gone and Testy exiting to the Warriors, mwerps stepped in and looked to rehabilitate Crushy's rough exterior by suggesting he had a gooey centre, and MWPP would lean on Crushy a lot during this period becoming quite the odd couple. In the midst of all of that, they would importantly recruit Hall of Famer Broken to the club in S31, who set about repairing the vibe.

MWPP would lead the club for two seasons in the end, handing captaincy off to Muddiemoose in a surprise that lasted just the one solitary season in the end at the height of the Nerd Club era.

Thankfully for the Bears they had their upgrade ready to go and waiting in the wings, as fellow Nerd Club associate tony would ascend to the captaincy in S34 and after humble beginnings has established himself as a popular and well respected skipper who's now racked up 5 seasons in the role, even leading them to the decider in S36.

There's something to be said for stability, as we look now to one of the most well run clubs of the modern era, the Demons. Stretching back 14 seasons in what has proven to be an almost unbroken era for what has remained roughly the same squad over this journey, that puts them 2nd overall when comparing clubs on the longevity of their current eras.

It all reaches back to S25 as 500 gamer cats2rise led no less than 9 players from their current S38 squad, amongst other household names like Rodney Dangerfield and long term Dee Tarkyn_24. It would prove to be his only season at the reigns, with the club's best and fairest winner Yakker leapfrogging vice captain sante (naked of course, I assume) into the captaincy for S26.

The Yakker era was arguably one of the most sustained periods of form & success the league has seen in the modern era, so much so that it saw him assume the self dubbed title of 'Mr 74%' a mantle backed by an incredibly impressive winning percentage during his time at the helm. The Dees would go on to salute in his first season in charge, as they absolutely pantsed the NaturalDisaster led Furies in that season's decider, to the tune of 87 points in one of the great Sweet FA hidings.

After a narrow Preliminary Final loss in S27, Yakker made the shock decision to step down as he anointed the clear successor to the throne, manangatang, who had made an instant impact since crossing over from the Furies ahead of the S26 season.

And it would prove to be a sustained and storied impact that mang would go on to have on his beloved Dees, one marked by a period of dominance and success rivalling his successor, but with greater individual honours coming his way as he proved not only to be one of the league's leading and most well respected skippers and committee contributor, but he would also contend heavily in successive beez Trophies, having won in S28 with a stellar field of contenders nipping at his heels.

He would ultimately be recognised by Kennedy Parker during his second admin reign with the creation of the GM of Qooty, a credit to mang's contributions and nous with league strategy and his leadership. A role that realistically only ever made sense for mang, if it ever really made sense at all. In an era where his contemporaries had long since handed over the reigns to their successors, mang would lead the Dees over a 10 season stretch, including a 2nd premiership with this group in S31 to cap off the most successful era of the club's history between Yak & mang.

Quite suddenly but perhaps unsurprisingly in hindsight, mang would pass the mantle to club talisman Headless, another 500 gamer of the greatest pedigree who assumed the captaincy ahead of S38 and looks to continue much in the same vein we have come to expect from a Dees skipper. With a squad arguably even better than their S25 version, with league stalwarts and legitimate superstars like Wosh, Hate and Marlowe amongst their ranks, add to that one of the league's brightest up and coming stars in Gralin, the Dees look as well placed as any club for another sustained period of success and prowess.

Next Skipper? @DERO

I can’t argue with any of that, the Dees are just a really chilled and hassle free bunch of people playing the most unchilled and hassle loaded game on the internet. It’s 💯 due to choosing the right leaders at the right time of their enthusiasm and commitment.

Just one little mistake above I fixed for you 🥕 ✅
