Zac SmithAnd what are we getting back with Kelly?
And also remember Geelong could have written up some bizzaro back ended or front ended contract to force Adelaide not to match. It was a different scenario to a normal trade.Crows offered Patrick Dangerfield and pick 50. Cats gave dean gore, picks 9 and 26

Again, Both WA clubs will be hesitant on trading 2 1st round picks on kelly. And also remember Geelong could have written up some bizzaro back ended or front ended contract to force Adelaide not to match. It was a different scenario to a normal trade.
It’s an interesting precedent for this trade, that’s for sure.
Same age, kelly not too far behind danger in ability, player wanting to go home, player out of contract, trade needing to be done for it to happen.
That would work. I think Geelong would be keen on one pick in the 5-10 range, followed by a late first. 11 and 12 is a good substitute.Again, Both WA clubs will be hesitant on trading 2 1st round picks on kelly.
Pick 6 and the 2020 2nd rounder might be enough.
Hell, there are rumours Freo will work around the trade.
Possibly offer Ed Langdon and pick 5 to get Demons pick 2.
Then use that pick 2 to give to GWS for their picks of 11 and 12.
then use those 11 and 12th picks to hand you for tim kelly
As I said, I am actually being fair and realistic with the possible trades. That would work. I think Geelong would be keen on one pick in the 5-10 range, followed by a late first. 11 and 12 is a good substitute.
No doubt, pretty much every Freo supporter in here is being reasonable with the scenarios. Funny that.As I said, I am actually being fair and realistic with the possible trades.

Well he's the second most valuable player in the competition according to the blokes who match up on him week after week. If being named as such doesn't raise ones' value, I don't know what will. He will rightly cost a fortune if he is traded away from Geelong. Could be painful.
Would you be happy if WCE offered 14, 22 and their 2020 first with Geelong's 2019 (34-38) or 2020 (25-35 most likely) second rounder coming back?Influenced strongly by the fact that last year they were out of the loop. Will Kelly consider Freo this year? Not sure, time will tell. But it's easy to throw out hypotheticals when you don't have a skin in the game.
Everyone is in it for themselves. If Kelly announces he wants to join Freo watch WC fans argue that Freo should give up pick 6 + when we don't have an equivalent pick to offer. At the same time Freo fans will start to change their tune and lean towards arguments like 'well we can get him in the draft at 6 anyway, why offer more than that?'. Natural fan tendencies, happens every year on this board.
For the sake of comparison I was comfortable with the Dylan Shiel trade last year. I think a mid range first and a future (likely mid range) first for him and aecond while under contract is about right. I'd be happy doing that trade - but - given what we had to offer last year if Shiel decided for some reason he wanted to join us I wouldn't be offering the same because of the extra cost in trying to get it. I wouldn't be OK with WC going into O'Meara territory pick chasing. It's pretty rare that player wants club A, club A wants player and club A has exactly what club B is happy with and can trade straight away.
Yeah I guess the guys who play against him wouldn't know.So now he's better than Grundy.........baaahaahaa
The only pain in any Kelly trade will be Cats fans whinging about how Geelong buckled and took massive unders.......when really its his fair value.
LOL!

I do like the AFL MVP award but according to Geelong players Patrick Dangerfield isn't in their top 3 most valuable and he is the Brownlow favourite so it's not without quirks. Tim Kelly 2nd in the voting, Jack Darling not nominated. I wouldn't trade Darling to get Kelly. Funny ol' world.
There is a difference between most valuable player and best player.
2nd in the players MVP? The price just rose yet again.
Difference is Danger was a RFA. The only ever time a club has given up anything for a RFA.
The deal seemed in our favour but the other view is we should not have given anything. If this happened, Crows wouldve got a R1 (around 15 or so from memory). So the deal was to give Adelaide better compensation than they'd ordinarily get... but not equal to compensaiton than if he was not a RFA. A compromise was reached.
Danger needs to stop being compared to Kelly in terms of trade value for the above reasons. WC are not trading for a RFA.
A closer comparison is the Treloar trade... was something like 7 + a future R1 with a R2 coming back. WC don't have a single digit pick so don't expect a R2 coming back.

Personally, I think 14 and next year's first should get it done, no need to play around with late picks. Now, of course, I'm hoping we have pick 18, in which case pick 18 and next year's first wouldn't be enough.Would you be happy if WCE offered 14, 22 and their 2020 first with Geelong's 2019 (34-38) or 2020 (25-35 most likely) second rounder coming back?

I'd hope we're not that transparent There's no point in Freo entering the negotiations if they're not going to beat Eagles' offer.
Why would they when the guys who play with Dangerfield didn't know and didn't even bother nominating him in the top 3.Yeah I guess the guys who play against him wouldn't know.
