I think there is alot of posturing going on at the moment.

worst case for Eagles they dont get Kelly but dont lose anything.

Worst case for Freo Kelly goes to the Eagles but they dont lose anything.

Worst case for Geelong they lose Kelly and gain nothing.

If Freo get pick 6 whats stopping them from just using that in the draft to get Kelly ?

Whats stopping Eagles from trading for a pick ahead of Freo and getting him in the draft ?

To think Cats hold all the cards here is very naive.

I think the trade will get done respectfully but Geelong could lose out big if they are not careful.

And before anyone says it no club outside of WA would risk a high draft pick on Kelly in the draft given the circumstances !

Wce dont have the collateral totrade up ahead of freo.

If a deal doesn't get done he will be picked up by freo in the draft unless a club before freo lose their marbles and pick him up but very unlikely

As Kelly has to sanction any trade

What does any of that have to do with what i actually said?

Freo have Luke Jackson training with them recently and Robertson would be a big chance , if Kelly doesn't want to go to Freo then they would be better off going to the draft , Jackson and Robertson would be handy pickups .

Speaking on Telstra AFL Trade Radio, Wells said draft picks would likely get the deal done, but West Coast's first-round selection this year (No.14) and first-round selection in 2020 would not be enough.

He said Geelong would be open to dealing with Fremantle despite Kelly's request to be dealt to the Eagles.

"All of us are very reluctant for Tim to go at all, but for him to end up at a fierce rival like West Coast Eagles, who we've got great respect for, or Fremantle, who we've also got great respect for, we're losing a player that has come second in our best and fairest in his first two years," Wells said.

"We want to do what's best for the Geelong Footy Club, taking into account everybody else's position as well."

Wells said Geelong would be happy to accept players as part of the deal, but felt it was unlikely.

He said two top-10 picks would be "nice".

"The market has been set through these sorts of trades in recent years with significant players that have left their club."

So can we now kill the talk of pick 14, 2020 first and a second rounder back to west coast.

If Vozzo was interviewed, I’m sure he would say that two first rounders is a bit too much.

Doesn’t mean we should kill off talk of anything happening though.

No they dont. No one is going to trade you 5 for 14 24 and your FR1 unleas they are stupid.
Eagles could obtain Hawks pick 11 for our 2 2nd rounders which goes to F/S bid.

Pick 11 and 14 would get it done hell Adelaide might be interested to even trade pick 3 as they need to get players on the list due to everyone bailing and by doing so would get back at Geelong for shafting them with Dangerfield....

This is about the 5th scenarios you’ve spewed up

Hawks wouldn’t accept that at all

Stop posting crap

The others were ideas numbnuts. This is actually whats going to happen. McGuinness will be bid on before their pick so they know it has no value to them. They are essentially coming to the table as a scratch our back deal to us. They get no value back in the sense the draft points are the same and those draft points go straight for McGuinness anyway but they lose no value too.

Heres one

If Eagles trade in Hawks pick 11, you go ban yourself, if they dont I ban myself

It's amazing how many Geelong supporters are claiming the higher ground re Danger trade.
Listen up NUMPTIES: Danger qualified as a restricted free agent (RFA), that means if he agrees terms with a team, crows can choose to match, in doing so he loses the RFA status and the teams need to organise a trade.
Adelaide excepted well unders but respected Dangerfield enough. Geelong got away with a steal. You didn't do Adelaide any favors.
Geelong have to have the most deluded fan base....
Between them and damo, I don’t know whose worse

I am sure WC will put all there eggs in 1 basket and pick him up. They are an ageing list and he gives them a last shot at a flag. Irony is they likely won't win the flag with him and all the dad's with kids at the club will be retiring in the next year or 2 anyway.

An aging list?

They have a couple of over 30's in Hurn and Kennedy.

We have brought in a swag of kids plus 22 years olds over the last few drafts. Also been developing the likes of Watson, Rotham, Allan, Brander, Waterman, Cole, Cameron, Williams etc over the last three.

Add to that young does not mean good. Taking improvement for granted.

There’s no incentive for Hawthorn to make that trade and it’s unders in terms of value. Another team will give more for pick 11. I bet if they do trade, they’ll snag an extra 300 points on the trade value chart.

Brisbane, GC got better pick to swap with Hawks pick 11 than Eagles. If Eagles is not a top 4 team I think Hawthorn might accept Eagles second Rd pick. GC might consider your future first and second for next year pick 11 and Callum ah chee pick from Brisbane.

Wells does realise that he is no longer a Geelong player he is uncontracted

They held that over him last year

You do know the Kelly is contracted till the 31st of Oct and trade week falls before that, so technically he is contracted Geelong player...

Same situation as GWS in why would they care

Its about working relationships also. We have a good relationship with Hawks over many years. They are hardly gonna do the dirty and trade with a random ass team instead so they can get pick 90 instead of using pick 96 themselves
