News Time for the Vic teams to leave Victoria - EDIT: Hawks to Hub in Barossa, 15 teams in QLD

Wont be a very enjoyable time in the hubs, pretty brutal having that hanging over your head, wouldn't want to be the player that stuffs up.

But I reckon the AFL is bluffing. If they send teams home they dont have a fixture or competition. They send teams home they kiss their own season goodbye.

Need to forget about the ' everyone plays everyone ' fixture and just try to get 16 or so games in , most teams look pretty competitive with no absolute standouts so if teams have a couple of double-ups it's not the end of the world and it will help to get the Vic teams home a bit quicker

I reckon the ‘optics’ if a player gets sanctioned for a game of golf would not be good.

to maintain Australia ‘clean’ they would need to maintain it as an island jail as they are doing now. So it’s back to the convict days.

australians seem to be swallowing that line, but would they keep up when australia is an island ‘open prising ’ for years while coronavirus is eradicated everywhere?

‘I don’t think we’ve even thought about what comes next

I wonder how Australians will react as the rest of the world starts returning to normality as the virus has largely moved through and they've developed immunities, and we're stuck in lockdown and poverty (government can't keep borrowing to fund everything for much longer...)

Who gives a fu** about the optics. Seeing as a large majority of the Covid breaches have been from Vic clubs, it's fair enough to give them a stern warning.

afl panicking and ordering 50 people and families out of the locked down suburbs into Airbnb’s and stuff like that was probably more risky than anything what’s happened

‘that might happen. Would be fairer than organising double ups of fixtures. Maybe play a final 10 (double final 5)

Agreed but they put themselves in that position. They could and should have gotten on top of this a couple weeks ago instead of twiddling their thumbs and waiting for this to happen. Clear as day that Hubbing Victorian clubs was a real "last resort" for the AFL.

You already had the WA teams wanting to go home after 4 weeks, what kind of idiots thinks the Vic teams will be happy away for 4 months?

They won't care about the comp, if they all act together and use the aflpa they will get their way and they will get their money because the AFL is requesting something outside their contracts.
Its almost like unionising works hey?

Orrrrrr this thing mutates like the flu does every year and rolls around the world kver and over whilst we stay closed till theres a cure or develop medicines that attenuate the deaths/ damage it causes.

‘we have flattened the curve
We have protected the health service.

heading for total eradication by making the country an open prison has problems too. It’s calledthird world poverty. If we are smart we can sail closer to the wind

Mate i dont know if youve watched whats happened in america - but they have states going back into restrictions whilst having masses of people dying

they are having daily infection rates that will translate to 2-3000 dead per day in a few weeks

and they are broke too.

States other than vic are nearly in the other side of this - back at work!!

So what we have to do is instead of taking that overseas trip - look at australian options.

Instead of police picking on randoms and fining them however much for buying kebabs - police could be checking people ordered into iso 2+ times a day and fining people who dont obey $50000 or 6 months jail for multiple offenses.

The guy eating the kebab was in Sydney wasn't it?

I agree they should have been doing stricter checks on people meant to be in isolation, was this happening across other states? Genuinely asking as I haven't paid much attention to how other states were handling things. I assume Victoria and NSW had the most people in isolation due to people returning from overseas being higher than WA, SA and Qld and having a larger population.

Typical that as an Aussie you assumed I meant tourism. I was talking business, commerce, working etc
And I don’t mean either or. I mean being smarter

Will Premier Nero make a tough decision?
Whole city of Melbourne should be Quarantined, nobody in or out till spike recedes.

A month ago he was criticised for being too authoritarian. He’s been consistent it’s the trolls who’ve changed tack
