Play Nice Toby Greene and "protecting the space"

Has anyone found all the times that Wayne Carey did this in his career and was lauded for it?
Or is this all because we dont like Toby Greene?
Like this. Oh for the good old days when you go for a mark and stick your stops/sprigs into your opponent's back and get lauded for it.

Sorry follks but Greenes actions just dont have comparison. Trying to compare his actions with knees or even feet in a marking situation is clearly not the same as sticking your feet into someone running back towards you at speed. In a marking situation, in most cases youre botgh running the same way. In Greenes case he is sticking his studs into people running hard at him.
Clearly hes doing this to either physically stop opponents getting near him (ie when he makes contact) or to make players afraid that he will hurt them so they back off.
This isnt "protecting space", this is "creating space by hurting people".
Nobody else does this. Because. It. Will. Badly. Hurt. Someone.
Most players have too much empathy/conscience to do this to their opponents.
Double action/studs out has to be outlawed.
This grub should be banned

My favourite non swans player alongside Dylan Grimes . Unfortunately he kills us every time he plays us. I don't think he is doing anything malicious in his actions , I am more of the opinion it is just a bad habit he has developed .

Usually Bunk, I endeavour to refrain from commenting on supporters being critical of players actions, but Michael Long was a maestro
when it came to lifting the boot at approaching opposition.
He, Waite and Greene are the players that have given it a good go. It's kicking IMO. Shouldn't be accepted.

Players have been doing this for a long time, its within the rules and he is executing it to perfection. People claiming intent to injure are being stupid. If they change the rules then so be it but when they allow defenders to fly back with the flight, scrag and hold all day long a mid sized marking fwd is up against it. Hasn't played for a month and is bog in a final first game back. I smell fear and envy.

I find tackling a players arm Cyril style to be a bigger blight on the game.

Given what your captain got away with on buddy tonight I’m shocked to be hearing you talking about defenders being allowed to scrag hold etc.

Bottom line is Davis and Greene are dirty dog cheats and Cameron is a head hunting thug.

As for the clown with the ‘Sydney created not relocated’ banner, give me a spell. As if south Melbourne asked to be sent to Sydney and if not for the swans you flogs wouldn’t even exist.

Hopefully Collingwood smack Christ out of you next week - literally

Your butt seems very hurt.

Dirty. Studs up into the chest of the opponent running flat out towards him.
There's going to be a time that opponent slips and gets a footfall of studs in the face.
Ban that shit asap

That's what I was thinking. Push his leg up over your shoulder and drive upwards. Be worth giving away a free kick for.
Or if Toby's standing under the ball waiting for a mark maybe his opponent running back can just fly in foot out and kick him right in the chest.
It would only be protecting space and legal, right?

Here we go with the lives at risk crap. Keep banging on about knees in the back should be outlawed and duty of care if you feel you have to. I don't really care how outraged you are by this terrible feature of our game.

It's a contact sport ..sport

When did I bang on about knees in the back? I’m talking about knees in the head. Try ****ing reading next time.

Look, these are the rules:

A Player makes Prohibited Contact with an opposition Player if the Player:

(h) kicks or attempts to kick an opposition Player, unless contact is accidentally made whilst the Player is Kicking the football;

15.4.3 Permitted Contact Other than the Prohibited Contact identified under Law 15.4.5, a Player may make contact with another Player:

(a) by using their hip, shoulder, chest, arms or open hands provided that the football is no more than 5 metres away from the Player;

(b) by pushing the other Player with an open hand in the chest or side of the body provided that the football is no more than 5 metres away from the Player;

(c) by executing a Correct Tackle;

(d) by executing a Shepherd provided that the football is no more than 5 metres away from the Player; or

(e) if such contact is incidental to a Marking contest and the Player is legitimately Marking or attempting to Mark the football.

So he clearly kicked the opposition player, which is banned. None of the other conditions for permitted contact were met, except if (e) can be disputed. Now he kicked the opposition player, planted on the ground, which is not allowed. It was in the marking contest, but it wasn't incidental to the marking contest. Incidental to a contest, refers to contact that would be considered a normal part of a legitimate marking contest, including protecting oneself in the air. He has been fined before for similar behaviour, so clearly that kind of kicking is not deemed legitimate by the AFL and that was when in the air.

"OK, then I'm going to start kicking air like this. And if any part of you should fill that air, it's your own fault."

What saves greene is that he seems to always have eyes for the footy. Never looks at the player he boots.

Gives him a benefit of doubt, he definitely knows what he is doing and he can execute maneuvers like this one without looking because he has exceptional spacial awareness.

Are you sure he was fined before? I thought he was fined for other misdemeanours in the game he kicked Dahlhous. Its not a good look/habit and although you posted the above rules there is obviously an element of grey otherwise a free kick would have been paid.

This is the funniest thing ever, I love how outraged everyone is by this! Greene is a superstar player and a boss at trolling campaigners.

I bet you love it because kicking is a violent action and we all know how tough that is
