Sam Mitchell has said many times he believes he has the core of a premiership side. He just needs to add some pieces.

TB is an upgrade on what we have, but what we have is already sufficient to competing in the pointy end. TB just accelerates our Premiership window opening a few years earlier rather than waiting another 50 games for more experience in a younger core.

Bit of success in 1 year and every overexcitable Hawks schoolgirl has them in premiership contention (almost a bit like WC 2012 - remember that flogging roo boys!!!).

Their current core is light on for premiership side and TB wouldn't change this.

Best move for them long term is not trading for TB and personally as a WC supporter, completely ambivalent to this turn of events.

14 for Baker in a straight swap is a terrible deal that id like to think we werent on board with.
14 for Baker + a 2024 2nd rounder id settle for.

I think we'd be a decent chance to play in the pointy end of the season next year and beyond.

If you had a bit of self awareness you would know that Barass still wants to get to hawks.

So I pulling that f1 offer. Pick 33 and Blues F2 would be perfect. Eagles just got to accept it. ok?

PS : Eagles/Tigers fans need to move on from Pick 14. Its gone. Can't get it, just like how you can't get pick 12 or 13 or 15.

Either way, would be sort of funny now if the Hawks picks trade nets Freo Bolton and Baker and significantly bolsters another contender that's heading into the window with the Hawks.

We don’t need barrass deal to get baker over the line.

And barrass will find another. If he hates wce as much as hawks like to think he does, he will find another club out of desperation. Plenty of Victorian clubs would love a full back. You think other clubs are not enquiring and offering? How naive are you? It’s not hawks or wce. And as mcqualter just said, he would love barrass back. So maybe at worst he can sweet talk him back.

Such big change to team setup affected by a later pick or two.
