Speculation Tom Barrass [UFA 2027] - Reportedly headed to Hawthorn

Yes you are desperate. You just traded out of first round this year with your own coach wanting to go going all in for 2025 before the older players get too old. Battle is not barrass and won’t solve height issues.

HFC has holes and want to challenge for 2025 premiership. If you really think best option was to trade into 2025, with an extra 35-45 pick next year as a reward, then you are a little naive.

Either there are other moving parts or trade was a desperate attempt to find a solution.

Barrass has changed his mind on clubs many times. He can do it again.
If our backline for the last two thirds of the season was a hole ……. please give me more holes in other areas of the ground!

Nick Gieschen will be pissed.

Lots of people seem to think that Barrass and his manager will be blindsided by what Hawthorn did. Based on what?

We have a thousand journalists all desperately hunting for something / anything to say about trade week. And yet, despite the desperate craving for info, there has been not a single quote or even a hint of a report that anyone actually involved was surprised or upset or confused.

They all know what is going on. The pick swap was done to get closer to the goal. It is all part of the plan... but the AFL want everyone to be obsessing about it all weekend.

Just because morons in the media were and still are confused, does not mean the people involved are confused.

Hes reliable, but all hes said is that Carlton want pick 3 using 12+14
And this is the big thing that everyone seems to be overlooking.

He said Carlton want it. Good for them, they can want it until the cows come home.

He said nothing about West Coast even entertaining it, let alone doing it.

Exactly.

Richmond want picks 6 and 23 for Rioli.
West Coast want two first rounders for Barrass.
Collingwood want pick 13 for Noble and change.
I want to get laid tonight.

None of those things are going to happen.

Mate, we're talking shit in here.

Keep that balanced nonsense out of the thread please.

Yep, we are at ff 1 and 2. Next offer is 2 ff's which we will take. Sammy has his man, WC have their two firsts and Tommy has a new home.
Wins all around.

Yet every year clubs place a premium on trading into the current year.
There is a not-insignificant value on not having to wait a year to use the pick

I think a future pick is a big negative in this situation.

Eagles lose a player that would help them be more competitive in 2025.

Eagles don't get anything in return to help them in 2025.

If Eagles accept a future pick they better not put the hand out for a priority pick.

We arent getting a priority pick. We arent getting one this year so clearly the AFL arent doing them anymore. We arent in a hole like North are/were.

Yes the future picks are way worse

We are not getting one anyway.

If WCE ask anyone for a priority pick, it will be Geelong. Returning one of the picks that was shamefully blackmailed out of them during the Tim Kelly trade.

It honestly doesn't matter what this trade is tbh.
If the reports are true and we're going to forward your pick on to Richmond for Baker then we're losing this trade period by a huge margin. Barrass is a significantly better player than Baker and much more valuable as a key position.
The semantics of any additional picks doesn't make up for our sheer incompetence should the reports be true.
Let’s not forget that Liam Baker is a 2-time premiership player… the winner of the Robert Rose award as the AFL’s most courageous player… a runner up in the Richmond’s best & fairest…

He was also Richmond’s VICE CAPTAIN!!!!

Ralphy reckons the Hawks didnt even offer the f2 with pick 14, they just wanted to do 14 for Barrass+f3.

Idk fellas but thats not goodwill trading right there, at least come to the table if you want a contracted A-grader...

Chased Barrass all year, promised him the money, and couldn't even front up with their first round pick. Hawthorn the new Dodoro.

Where does it say we never offered our first rounder?

F#@#ing rude of them to make deals for pick 14 without securing it too. Surely MM sensed the lack of respect among other clubs for our trading strategy and likely also chose to make a statement.

Could have easily made a 3 way deal or 4 way involving GC or Freo that benefited all, but your list managers like your club fans seemed intent on nuking any trade that involved hawks getting back anything for pick 14 or F1.

You guys behaved as if 14 was your birthright, keen to see what you guys cook up now.

Hawks fans rattled after trading out of the first round of a strong round, it seems. Must be wondering wtf your LM is thinking?
