And yes he was gifted one by Jezza but he’s also let two now simply drift straight past him when he was unmarked in the goal square and the ball was bouncing through. Unselfish now as the day he started. He’s the f**ken king

One of the most universally liked and admired players, big Tom. We joke about his weight but the fact is he's a star, and that rare bird, a real footballer in a league of athletes.

Well done and he may have more than one season of footy left in him.

That's a great stat. Matthews and Bartlett were utterly selfish players (almost to their teams detriment), and Franklin perforce his sides' gunbarrel: not selfish per se but had to be for the gameplan.

I rate Riewoldt extremely highly as a team player, constantly unselfishly laboring for others to score as we as doing the scoring when needed. Best Tiger since Hart at least IMHO.

Like Riewoldt, Hawkins is there despite his unselfish style.

It's a great honour, but not undeserved, to see Hawkins ranked up with him. I think Hawkins legacy is beginning to take shape. Never the most lauded in any team (its been Ablett, Danger, Cameron, so you can see why) , but Scott's most consistent asset in an era of elite sustained performance.

He’s my favourite ever cat and it’s been awesome reading and hearing the plaudits from fans of other teams over the past week for a guy who’s often been behind others in the pecking order. But for probably 15 years - since the St Kilda grand final really - he’s been a constant. Whether it was as our second ruck, our second forward option, or our second best player behind a superstar of the game that might be getting all the attention, the one constant over that whole period has been Hawkins and his contribution has just never ever stopped and it was on show once again yesterday and yet again all the things that make him a good player were there:

• a great mark on the lead into his favourite pocket
• a great set shot conversion
• great contested mark out the back where he out-positioned his opponent
• beautiful little handball give to set up a goal
• some good ruckwork
• a soccer out of the goal square
• escorting a ball through that he could have picked up and slammed through himself
• one of those trademark low grabs where you wonder how someone so big and cumbersome gets that far down that quickly

Yep. Breaks it against GCS in Darwin (I assume we manage him and he breaks it against GWS in Geelong).

I love Hawkins He is my favourite player.. But I'm starting to have some doubts the game has caught up to him...
Yes his allowed to not play at A Grade as his played 300 plus magnificent games, but those marks he use to mark, those ruck taps he use to do, those goals he would kick are just starting to fade away..
Once again he is a Champion . A club legend, but I'm just starting to see what the AFL media are saying about him...

was really good on the fox footy show with Gary Lyon. Will have a great career in the media.

Quite a few of us on the port board said the same thing, that he came across as a natural.

You can put the next ones in their place but its never the same.
