Essendon have pulled out. Too old.
Really? He's 27.
If you can get him for free i would have thought he'd be perfect for a club like Essendon who made finals and are looking to go deeper into September next year...and he's the perfect type of player being an inside midfielder which Essendon needs.

Is that an indication of where your list is at? I would have thought if you were looking to push on to finals next year he is in the right age bracket if you can get him without using picks.
I'd say you're short on $$.I figure same pay and add a year on the contract would get a deal done.
Brisbane apparently won't budge from 3 years and I can see why as they will have a lot of kids arriving in 3 years time.
Give Rocky 4 x $500K and I reckon he's signing.
Complete rubbish ..even Dusty said he was close to leaving...Richmond have all their eggs in the one Basket ..and don't have any salary cap space to chase anyone ..despite all those superstars that you named retiringBecause they knew dusty didnt want to leave and he would accept what was fair and the team actually needs the ability to bring in talent to continue to build
same reason Hawks didnt budge on Buddy
Port Adelaide likely outcome, Carlton only other possible outcome from all reports
would be suprised if ports out. We've kicked Trengove out to gain money ($750,000) and will delist or trade a lot of midfield depth such as white, ah chee, young, Hewitt and maybe Snelling. Port also want to free up wingard and r gray to the forward Rockliff would be our best fit.May or may not be correct but a very reliable source on our board has said Port is out. Why would you think it's the likely outcome? Just curious.
Freemantle - mark my words
We've kicked Trengove out to gain money ($750,000)
Nope. There's a reason why he's a RESTRICTED free agent he's in our top 25 percent earners. $750,000 was being paid this year as his contract was back ended. Is that a typo?
I get why he said we're looking at under 23's, but we still need to think about the now. We've got plenty of good young guys who might come good, we need a bit of grunt in the middle and Rockliff would be perfect.
Goddard has been one of our best players over the past few years and we got him when he was past his peak. Even James Kelly has been great for the 2 years we've had him.
Pending a physical, Rockliff would have 4 years left in him, our window opens next year and will be open for 3-4 years in which time we may be able to snaffle a few other top-up players for specific roles. This is one role we need to fill.
Bulldogs of 2015, Tigers of 2014, hawks of 2007, cats of 2006, all won flags the next year after being in a similar (or worse) position to the bombers. Made the finals and our younger players are starting to hit their peak age.If your window is open next year we must only be talking single digit millimetres, no offense intended.
HEAVILY backended I hopeNope. There's a reason why he's a RESTRICTED free agent he's in our top 25 percent earners. $750,000 was being paid this year as his contract was back ended.

As well as the fact that we will be delisting over $1.5 million dollars of players likeClose to leaving is fine. It means our offer was pretty much right on what was needed. The fact that he took over $2M less to stay suggests he didn't WANT to leave, which is what THE_GUN stated.
As for all the eggs in one basket...We're paying him less than 10% of the cap. If that's all our eggs in one basket, then there are quite a few clubs worse off.
As for having the cap space to chase...Well, earlier in the year we were supposedly chasing Schache (reputedly for a sizable sum), while at the same time being confident about keeping Dusty and presumably weren't spending every last cent of our cap to do both. Since then our offer to Dusty didn't change much...So the cap space we had for Schache would probably still be there (or at least the vast majority of it), and thus we have some room to pursue players.
I'm sure Tom was relieved when they "pulled out"Essendon have pulled out. Too old.
