Too many forward line injuries - season 2012 is over

We wont make top four and will get knocked out in the semis, unless freo storm into the 8 and we play them in the first week, anything could happen then. All those on here that have said losses earlier in the year dont make a difference to finals are full of shit. That Brisbane loss ruined our chances because of how close the 8 will be come seasons end, had we have won that we would still be second and just about a lock for top 4, 1 win less and we dont make it, thems the facts, sucks but true, we are finished!

Adelaide will be the nail in what was an exciting season only a few weeks ago..

Not looking forward to AAMI this week... fkin injuries (and half of them occuring during bloody training!!!)

Nice to see you're so confident. Yes, the loss to Brisbane could mean a lot come the end of the season if we miss a spot on the ladder by one win. It's all in our hands still as to whether we make the top four, there's going to be losses by the other teams fighting for the top four as they play each other. We're one win behind the team on top of the ladder and yet you think we're finished, give it a rest.

Never read so much rubbish in all my life. We need to gut out the next couple of weeks and target a top four spot. From their this year will be decided on form, luck and injuries at the pointly end. Priority right now is ladder position and that means grinding out wins and protecting percentage in losses. If we lose this weekend it just means to make top 4 we have to beat Fremantle plus one of Hawthorn and/or Collingwood - which we will.

One win behind the top three sides, not just one team and the swans and crows have easy runs from now on. and our percentage has taken a huge hit. True some of the teams above us play each other, but three of those are against us! Cant beat crows this week with again only one forward (if Darling doesn't get up) and then probably will struggle against pies at home and hawks away, with hawks on the same wins as us with a far superior percentage, they have a hard run too but will likely only drop one, in the same time we will drop at least 2 leaving us behind them and at least one win behind the pies and maybe 2 behind the crows and swans so yeah its shit to be thinking this way but its just being realistic. We have done an awesome job to stay up the top when most other sides would fall apart with all their forwards out for majority of the year but its at a point where we cant sustain it, so yes I think we are finished as far as top 4 goes, which in the end will mean an early exit from the finals.

Swans have an easy run home? What are you smoking mate?

St kilda @ SCG
Collingwood @ ANZ
Hawthorn @ SCG
Geelong @ Symonds (skilled)

Thats 4 games against top 8 teams.

Only Gold Coast and Bulldogs are certainties in my opinion.

I would hardly call that an easy run home.

They will smash the saints at home, should beat hawks at home too, Geelong will be tough but they are not the same side they once were, and sydney won there last year so will go over with plenty of confidence. that still puts them at least one probably 2 wins ahead of us, if we only lose 2 more, we have a few danger games, port away you never know but should win, derby will be tough with freo having sandi and fyfe back by then and playing for a spot in the 8, not to mention pies at home and hawks at the G. At best we can still finish top if we win every game from now on, if we drop 2 or 3 we will finish 5th and go out the next week away, which is what I said earlier.

And this is why i think we can sneak into the top 4 most of the top 6 face each other and bar Crows have a hard run. Now if we can smash the Lions,Freo,Geelong & Port we can make up lost % and if we can beat Pies at home we are a good chance for the top 4 and if we beat Crows i think we will be top 2.

We will smash the lions but all the others are not easy wins at all, maybe port if they have closed up shop for the year, freo will be much better this time around than last and We should beat the cats but cant see us smashing them.

Has there ever been a year with that many games to determine the 8 this close to the end of the season?

Why are people being so negative??

Darling will be fine, Hill and Hams should be right and Lynch comes back in, Thats our forward line we have relied on all year.

Waters will be back for the Derby.

If we can snatch a win this week, we have a great chance to finish top 2, if we loose, we will still make the top 4 as we have

Brisbane, Fremantle, Geelong all at home (all winnable games) Port away should win that one, then Collingwood at home another win, then hawks away (we will loose that one i would think)

Season is certainly not over, and Embley could be back in the next two weeks. JK and Lecca with Nicoski will not be seen I would think, we can still win the flag from were we are at atm.

Very important clash this week, and if we can snatch it top 2 is in our grasp.

To be honest I'm more worried about how easily Sydney killed us in the middle than anything else.

Tackling was very poor and was the major problem. They didn't clear the ball without some contest most times, it was how easily once tackled that they were able to release the handball and get moving. Other weeks we would have pinned the player and prevented disposal. Sadly against Sydney we failed to this time after time after time.

I'm certain it would have been addressed and well drilled during the week.

Hmm yeah, although i'm going to say it was a one off unless it happens again, i doubt O'Keefe and Hannebery,as good as they are,are going to get 40 touches each next time we play them. Also think Masten needs to get more midfield time over players like Swift/Stevens, its like having 3 Matt Priddis's that can only play one position.

On second thought Essendon did smash us in the midfield last time we played them

It's because our only decent mid who looked like he was trying as hard as Okeefe, Hannebery and Jack was Kerr. Our other mid were ****ing AWOL. Whoever tagged kennedy did a good job i guess? But there mids completely dominated the guts.

Just like there rucks. Yet another week where i hear about the opposition team taking a huge scalp in Naitanuii and Cox. Every ****ing week is the same, i don't know why they even call us the best ruck still. Watch what Jacobs does this weekend ffs..

Just following on from what Mop said, I'd hate to see some of the posters on here really up against it, in real life, like if you had a kid who had stomach cancer at 8 years of age, would you guys drop your rag and give up?

Way too harsh a comparison. I think most people here would be able to differentiate between thinking your team might not make it in the finals because of too many injuries and experiencing a massive life changing moment like the one you suggested. It's a lot easier to sit back and worry about team changes and losing games because in the end, watching sport is a hobby (an albeit passionate one for most of us) but the final result doesn't REALLY effect our lives except for typical supporter type privileges eg. bragging rights ect.
I know what you were trying to say that just really stuck out like a sore thumb to me.

I read what you guys are saying, but I'm not giving up hopes yet. I am one of those who think that there's still a lot of football to be played. Anything can happen. Upsets can and will happen. I have faith in Woosha, and that we will give a good account of ourselves.

I'm with you.. Anything can happen from now until round 23. There's so much more footy to be played this season.
