7 Andrew Mackie (not a KPP, not a midfielder, not anything)

Want a shot at the title?:D

I had no idea he went that high. Both still have time on their side but cats fans must be getting very anxious for these guys to show something.

p.s neither have been as bad as Luke Molan, Craig Cameron's greatest blunder.

Doesnt help when you break your leg twice. Hmmm... iv seen this kid play in the ressies and he had some serious talent. Could of been Rivers but better.

Now how is that Camerons fault?? You draft the best talent dont you??

Heres a question for all you drafting experts?
Out of all the players who failed, how many of them were reaches for their draft positions?? i.e drafted way ahead of schedule.

Brandon Hill was one.
Tim Walsh was another (but he was a very promising youngster).

Not much else hey. ;)

Dylan Smith #6 in 2000 was pretty terrible.
Also Luke Molan #9 in the 2001 super draft.

The 2002 draft was pretty weak and Walsh is still under an injury cloud.

Dylan Smith was one of the most celebrated underaged players. The fact that he didnt go on with it and adapt to the game at AFL level is a different story.
Luke Molan had more talent than 95% of hes draft. And yes he was in the super-draft.

Now you cant blame these two on the recuitment managers can you?? Maybe people should direct their eggs at the development coaches instead.

Holy cow there have been some stinkers!

In no particular order...

Alex Gilmour
Thomas Roach
Daniel Jackson
Shane Morrison
Brock McLean
Brent Hartigan
Shane Tuck
Jay Schulz
Jared Rivers
Daniel Sipthorp

a tiger horror story.
97
ottens #2
l proctor #53
98
j white #40
99
fiora #3
poyas #22
homewood #39
00
pettifer #9
01
d rodan #33
02
j schulz #12
t fleming #41
03 a gilmore #21
t roach #37

the thing that hits you is the lack of early picks hence the later picks on the above list. of the early picks we did use they went on some pretty average footballers. in fact of all these picks only 2 remain on the list pettifer and schulz and both have been ordinary at best although pettifer had a reasonable yr last yr.
if there was an award for the worst recruiting team over these yrs we would have to win it hands down.

Not harsh at all mate. They're all totally pathetic! It's really that simple.

Bit harsh on Sam Power, he probaably should have gone second or third round but he's played over 50 games and will probably end up with 100-150 games.

True, but he was on the bubble at the start of last year and with a full strength side this year is probably not in it. Also you need to factor in we could have had Del Santo with that pick.

I guess if you look at the history of Pick 3 Aaron Fiora though, Richmond finally have done ok from it.

Collingwood were actually the big loser from that one, Steven McKee (or McKnee as my old man calls him) was traded for that pick.

Ones not mentionned yet (to my knowledge)

1997

6 James Walker (looks okay, but considering Chad Corner went after him has been a waste)

1998

2 Justin Longmuir (been up and down, not worth no. 2 pick)
4 Ryan Fitzgerald :)eek:)
9 Mark McVeigh (has been, and always was s***. Amazed at how long he's been playing)
10 Brandon Hill

1999

3 Aaron f***ing Fiona
9 Cayden Beetham (who? Exactly)

2000

5 Andrew McDougal (to be fair to bulldog fans, he isn't a failure, but hasn't been great to be honest)
6 Dylan Smith

2001

9 Luke Molan
10 Sam Power

2002

3 Jarred Brennan
7 Andrew Mackie (not a KPP, not a midfielder, not anything)
10 Jayson Laycock

2003

9 David Trotter (although I will admit it's a tad too early he hasn't shown much)

You couldn't be more wrong with Mackie.

Finally showed something last year, I don't think any Geelong fans doubt that he will become a player.

Laycock is also a bit stiff :)thumbsu:) to get a mention in that list.
