mate im gonna cop a lot of crap for this but ADAM GOODES didnt deserve the brownlow last yr ...

i watched most of syd games and couldnt believe the ones he got votes in, i mean one game he got two votes for getting 13 touches and about 6 hitouts, where paul williams racked up 30 odd touches kicked a couple of goals and didn't get a vote ...

umpires have their favourites, and the medias portrayal of him meant he was getting noticed more and more by umpires in games ... if he gets a vote this yr it would astound me ...

often they come from sides who have one many games, who have one player the umps give votes to, even if they werent BOG ... except for brisbane, they take votes off each other and still win.

I initially balked at this post (and the others who have said Goodes didn't deserve it) but after I actually checked up on his numbers I must say I have to agree with you.

His 2003 stats read like those of a third-up forward who pinch hits in the ruck.

I just think in that particular year there were more outstanding players who had more influences on the outcomes.

I don't believe Wynd was one of them.

Who would they be MickZU

Remember the dogs finished 3rd on the ladder that year with 16 wins and Wynds Ruckwork and his ability to drop back in defence to help the backmen had a big say in our rise up the ladder that year. And he did it in a team that didn't have the stars some of the other top teams of the day had. IMO he absolutely deserved his brownlow.

Len Thompson - 1972 - would have come second to John Greening except for that mongrel Jim O'Dea
Graeme Moss - 1975 - Phil Carman missed eight games with a broken ankle and lost by five votes
Whoever won the Brownlow the year Greg Williams got 40 possessions in a game and didn't get a vote.
Whoever won the year Geoff Raines was hot favorite and didn't get a vote for the entire season
Whoever won the year Corey McKernan was suspended for something trivial.

He may not have won a lot of hit outs but his true value was when the ball hit the deck, he was way too agile for the tall limbering ruckman at getting clearances.

3) Andrew McLoud........(still can't believe he hasn't won one)
4) SOS........................(fullback of the century, say no more)

You dont even give an argument why Buckley should not of won his Brownlow. "didn't deserve the Norm Smith either" is not an argument for the way he played during the home and away season. Why dont you think of a reason why he didnt deserve it. Why dont you also think about all the years he ws very unlucky to miss out on the Brownlow.

That's because I'm not serious, but his previous year was better
and if he had won one then, no argument.
Last year no way !!

Irrespective of the Brownlow, he deserved that Norm Smith. Who was better on that field than him in that game?
He was absolutely outstanding, and deserved that medal. I hate Collingwood just as much as the next non-collingwood supporting Victorian, but I'll give credit where it is due.

I have no problem you debating the issue on whether he deserved the Brownlow. It was my observation the brownlow win in that particular year was a square up for previous years where he should have won one. He was not as good or as dominant in 2003. So he was lucky to get it !!

The Norm Smith was voted after three quarter time which was wrong. I believe if it was voted on after the completion of the game, Buckley might not have got the votes.

The brownlow is about the best and FAIREST. Lethel may have been one of the all time greats but he was also one of the all time great THUGS.

Believe Brownlow is for FAIREST & BEST...that's why so many of the BEST players miss out.

Corey McKernan & Chris Grant were very unlucky to miss out tho Corey has made up with it with 2 premiership medallions which IMO is way better than an award which depends on umpires. :)

Brian Wilson, could play but a Brownlow????

You are on the money here Shifty.

In my time of following footy Brian Wilson is easily the worst footballer to win a Brownlow. Obviously most of the posters on BigFooty are too young to remember him.

True he had good skills, was fast and could kick a goal or two but no way he was a Brownlow medalist. He was midfielder and he was very flashy type of player so I suppose he was always under the umpires' noses.

I stand to be corrected but I don't think any other player has won the Brownlow at their 3rd club. He got the sack from Footascray and North before ending up at Melbourne. If memory serves me right I think he may have even finished up at the Sainters.

Considering Hird and Voss won it, No.

Corza deserved it, but you can't say hird and Voss were lucky to go one step further than him, as hird and voss are still champions and Corza's winding down his.
