List Mgmt. Trade: Allen Christensen traded to Brisbane in exchange for National Draft selection no. 21

Geelong accepted pick 21 for a reason, like I said.

Ever stopped to think that maybe Wells has someone in mind at the draft who he's sure will be available at pick 21.

Not one individual is bigger than the club, and while it's sad to see him go, life moves on, as should supporters.

The reason we accepted 21 is because we pretty much had a gun to our head, and we lack the ability to play hard ball in trades.

Not because there is 1 player in particular Wells is after. We would not have ordinarily done this trade if Christensen was contracted, or wanted to stay.

Make no mistake, this is massive 'unders' for what is probably our second best midfielder. It's just that Bundy picked 1 club, with already decimated currency (Beams deal), corroborated with our soft trading negotiation skills that yielded us 21. Nothing more. Had Bundy picked WC, we would have got 11.

At the end of the day, our team in 2015, 2016 is now significantly weakened. And the chances of selecting a player at 21 that is going to be as good or better than Bundy is probably pretty slim imo, not impossible, but slim.

Good riddance I say, and lets move on.

Or maybe there's a trade in the pipeline and 21 will get it done. Who knows.

Just hope we use it well, however we use it.

And thats 143 pages in under a week or so.

Fair effort to all involved.

Dont necessarily agree all the time but you can't fault the passion on this board for our club.

Well done fellow posters…

Very very sad day that Bundy is gone but clearly he no longer wanted to live in Geelong. Unfortunately, he could not separate playing for Geelong and Living in Geelong.

We got the short end of the wedge. The club was pursing his new contract and had the basic deal done in principle. Principle however is not signed and as such he walked for market unders and we could do nothing about it. Perhaps a player with a little more clarity in his position might have signed an amended 1 yr deal and still wanted a trade to ensure the club had a little more clout but it wasn't to be.

We still got 21 for it and Wells can make something of it with any luck.

Bundy im sure will go on and have a stellar career and we will be left wondering what might have been. Bottom line his heart was not in Geelong anymore. Better to get him out than have him stay and be on the sidelines or disinterested all year.

Lang, Jansen, Hartman and whomever we get this year should be appreciating the opening.

Its certainly one less clearance player we have now for sure.

Bastinac interest you? Although we have lost Greenwood our inside to outside mid balance is out of whack..we need to draft more speed.

Contradiction I would have thought. If you have a gun held to your head, then it's ****ing hard to play hard ball...

Interests me.

But he wouldn't be on the table would he?

Be interesting to see if our offer was for as long as the four years he signed for in Brisbane as that might be the real "Personal Reason's" he was moving for?

It's juvenile I know, but I'm not happy with this guy.

I personally dont see what the big fuss about Christensen is

it's a big fuss when we don't have extra salary in the cap like your team did to ensure these guys were all well secured in case these circumstances arose.
All your young blokes are contracted, the ones that aren't are the ones that can't crack into the starting 18.

Know of him not enough about him. Would probably look to promote internally as honestly I feel Danger would be a target before Bastinac - not saying not interested or would be no good just need more info.

Depends on contracted or other and what kinda coin etc….

If I had my way yes..too slow and soft but he is smart can kick goals and rack up big numbers when on song.. struggling to suggest what he is worth..on this years form, not much

For his sake, hopefully the lesson learned out of this sorry episode is that the only gang to get involved with in BrisVegas, if tempted either drive a Mystery Mobile, or have Fat Albert as the figurehead.

Very lucky to be able to run away and get a second chance.

At least now Dermie can ask about his cravings to go North, and not get laughed at.

Well thats the GFC's fault isnt it???

To quote The Age and our website - “There were many things involved with Allen’s situation and we just had to help him as much as possible.” Balme said on the Cats' website."

Look, whilst I'd have liked more than pick 21, I recognise that we weren't going to get pick 5 and I am glad that we aren't going to be highly obstructionate about it unlike two clubs I won't mention, who if I were to mention them would be Collingwood and Essendon.

I'm also happy that there's a degree of circumspection going on regarding the reasons for departure and that the club appears to be respecting his right to privacy.

Biggest 'under the thumb' EVER!!!!!
