Exactly! At the B&F last week there was public talk about the need for Geelong champion players to breed up for father-son recruitment in the next 20 years.

We will have to blame Carter, then, for that. it was all his idea. Either Christensen's jumped the gun or he's heard Carter's speech before.

if we're talking about kids you've (well, not you literally) fathered, then I strongly agree with this.
I have no idea if the rumours are true or not, but that kind of situation definitely calls for a different approach than a trade to a sunnier climate, imo.

I think its a cop out he loves the club but rumored to have a betting problem and hes mates he hangs are trouble.
Maybe it's money too,I did see a tweet saying he wanted to have a big year and try to get a bigger wage unsure if true.Who knows its been a big day in this thread and more big days to come.

he signed late last year for only the one year. As did Hamling... Will keep looking for something more recent.

Yeah but, no but.
Couldn't exactly hawk him mid season if they even had an inkling then.
He was most likely sitting on it, seeing how things developed. No pun intended.

I'd say this has been the most likely thing that's happened, probably agreed to terms but was waiting on deals with Frawley, Clark, Varcoe etc before committing to x amount of money. Don't think that's really unusual practice, just a shame these circumstances have blown up.

To be fair, when I had a look earlier, all the tweets to him I saw were along the lines of "please don't go". I'm sure they would be annoying but no shame in fans doing that.

There are so many things we don't know about the situation, and what the club knew and when, that speculation is basically a waste of time and energy.
