List Mgmt. Trade: Allen Christensen traded to Brisbane in exchange for National Draft selection no. 21

regarding Christensen's contract status - reports from the media this morning was that he is contracted but for an unknown length, now the reports are he is off contract. Anyone with twitter think of maybe sending a message to the club to try to clear it up - get the information straight from them?

Can anyone say for sure whether you can trade players drafted in the previous draft?

Context is all the talk (dreams?) about getting the other Kolo to the club, or another 2013 draft kid in exchange for Bundy.

Reckon you'd have more luck with a phone call.

I find it hard to believe that Christensen's contract has never even been brought up, if he was OOC this year. We were even speculating about Rivers this season because we knew he was OOC. Seriously, this information should be readily available; you shouldn't have to go to the Google archives and hope to get lucky.

Tweeting Emma Quayle to ask her to confirm wouldn't be a bad idea either.

You must be able to. Essendon and Gold Coast spent all of trade week arguing over Josh Caddy in 2011. And Pies are demanding one of four players from Lions, one of which is Aish.

Seems appropriate

Cheated on he's girlfriend and got another girl pregnant apparently loves the club so much hardest decision but feels he's under a Microscope at Geelong city, told the seniors group at the cats.

He's still under 100 games played, so no father/son option. What a bastard!

Interesting to note that his twitter #achristensen_28 has already been deleted.

EDIT: It's back, with a nice note from Bigfooty:thumbsu:

All the best Bundy @achristensen_28, there are more important things than footy. But we'd love you to stay and will miss you dearly.

IT really is becoming a joke. A pick in the 20's for an uncontracted Bundy yet GWS get a pick in the teens for O'Rouke who's also uncontracted. I'd actually just prefer we let him go for nothing so I can really detest him for life. Wells will pick an unknown with pick 20 odd that will still be available at pick 50. Put aside the clubs incompetence, Bundy looks to have really screwed over a club that gave him so much. He says it has nothing to do with the club but the ramifications for the club will be long lasting

That trade will go down as the worst in a decade and will be defining in the way clubs deal with us. Enjoy his next 150 quality games Brisbane. If they get Beams & Bundy for pick 5, 25, and Patfull then you couldn't possibly have won any more this trade period. Oh and Collingwood win as well of course.

Hey guys. I'm a Christensen fan and would love to see him at the Suns. What do you think would be a fair trade? Don't get all Collingwood about it, I would have thought pick 15 is reasonable? Maybe a little extra cream on top in the form of a fringe player?

Right now, with him appearing to be uncontracted, I think most of is would do pick 15.

Kills me to say it. But +1
It's that ****-up with his contract that's killing me. Heads better ****ing roll over that one.

Well, I think it probably shows a lack of discipline coming out of the club and Chris Scott. And the fact that Christensen would rather run away than stay shows the values that he has been instilled with by the coach.
Could you be any dumber… :thumbsu:

Each post of yours sets new levels ..and its not a compliment.

Congratulations.

Go Catters

Well I still believe we can keep him but if he decides to leave I think we need to get involved with the Giants and Patful deal. The giants have a huge number of players of interest and possibly Hawthorn's first pick which they don't really need.

That is the sensible way around this.

Really, so you'd forgo 400k to make a point?
Yeah right.
Moreso I'd threaten to sit the year out. It's getting to the point where he needs to say he's played his last game for Collingwood and he's either going this year by trade or next year in the draft.

I don't see how running to QLD is going to resolve this for him other than in the very short term. Hopefully the club, friends can make him see this. IF this baby stuff is true then:

1) Word will get out/is already out and the whole football world and media will see it as a huge cop-out. He will cop a lot more public heat than dealing with this small town stuff.

2) He's running away from a kid he fathered, again not viewed favourably by anyone.

3) He's obviously done massive damage to his current relationship which may not be resolved, QLD isn't going to fix it. So, they split up in 6 months and then what, he's interstate for no reason, again away from his responsibility to this kid.

Agree 100%. Why would you run away from something more joyful than his first child but i know he cheated on his current girlfriend and made a baby with another women. I know he is going through a tough time but running away from this will only make it worse for himself. I really hope everything works out for him and he stays at the Cats.

Yep, the club would be better off telling to go away for 3 months and see if things settle down, come back and see how everything is, if it's no good we'll give you a trade next year. I can see him regretting this decision down the track...

Reminds me of the story of the person who goes to market and buys three cheese rounds and while walking home drops one and it rolls down the hill. Long story short he loses the other two cheese rounds rolling them down the hill to find the first cheese. Ends up walking home with no cheese.

Moral of the story: You don't fix one dumb mistake by compounding it with other dumb mistakes.

Man up Bundy and own your shit.

Geelong has a long history of working through issues with players (e.g. GA Senior, SJ, Stokes) for the best outcome for all parties.

IF, these rumours are true, then everything you say is spot on.

Hopefully the club and teammates can help him see this, they're all meant to be catching up today for talks I hear, hopefully we get some good news by the end of the day
