It will eventually get to a tipping point where the majority of clubs have at least one player on mega bucks. Sydney (x2), Fremantle, Richmond and WB are already there. In saying that it's still a while off, so I wouldn't to go too far above $1.2 mill for a single player.

I can also see a point in time where clubs are permitted one or two marquee players outside the cap (you could argue GC and GWS already are/were), but again that's a longer term thing.

And I'm not questioning any of that, just highlighting the flow on effects. The new $12m TPP allows about $270-275k per player across a 44 player list. You have 1 player on $1.2m (approx 10%) and that average drops down to about $250k, push it out to $1.5m and the average drops to $244k. You then factor in the a number of players earning >$600k and it really starts to shrink. For example add just Pendles on $800k to your new guy on $1.2m, the average remaining for the other 42 players is around $238k, if the new guy is on $1.5m it drops to $230k. When you consider that a 2nd year draftee who plays a lot of games can earn >$200k under a standard draftee contract it starts to get really thin and by necessity you have to reduce the number of mid-tier players you can actually carry or you start to lose developing kids because you can't pay them what they're worth.

Among others we have JDG, Maynard, Moore, Elliott, Fasolo, Langdon and Scharenberg all OOC at the end of the 2018 season. There's a couple of other guys who could be delisted, traded or retired like Broomy, Reid, Oxley, Greenwood, Varcoe, and the Sack. And there's all the 2016 draftees in Brown, Daicos, Kirby, McLarty and Lynch. That's a lot of people putting their hand out and more than a few who'll quite rightly be looking for increases in their salaries.

Isn't he a free agent next year? And if he nominates us we just need to put an offer on the table and he comes, meaning we keep 1st round picks of either this or next season or both?

Brings a lot of clubs into play.

Do you forget what year it is mate? :p

No, the 2016 draftees get a 2 year deal so they'll all be up for renewal at the end of 2018.

They can match our offer as he's restricted then we have to start offering picks anyway. We're in a good spot this year in terms of having a low enough first rounder.

Get the guy in ASAP is my view. Get the chemistry happening right now.

If we are hitting the draft why are guys like Mayne and Blair not getting delisted? We are better paying them out and giving someone else an opportunity

Blair is Bucks Favourite and Mayne still has a Big Salary

Couldnt agree more, Lynch at full forward, Reid at CHF, move Darcy to CHB and viola, top 4 magpies here we come.

Your arguments are getting more irrational and inconsistent by the day.

You used stats to argue Schache is as good as Lynch, Moore and others at the same age not long ago. Now this.

If stats are not important why the hell is there a very expensive annual draft camp where player are measured and tested within an inch of their lives?

Is that all worthless?
Yeah ok you must be right. I rate Schache of what I have seen him do. I used the stats as a comparison between players. You should never recruit a player of stats if you are going to bring someone to the club you have to see them in the flesh see what attributes they have as so much can't be seen on the stat sheet

Mayne's salary is still an unknown. Some suggest $500k a year or even more, others have suggested a front-loaded $420k with triggers to potentially earn about $500k in 2017 but reducing after that.

So his 2018 salary could be anywhere between $350-550k.

Pick 6 and next years first should do it surely? Maybe a player... Greenwood or Thomas?

Give em pick 6 and next year's first.. if we can offload Greenwood.. awesome! I hate him. But I think they'd want something a tad better than Greenwood.. perhaps we can offload Reid!!!

I'd settle for 2 First rounders to lion's and Reid. End of story. Capoot.. signed sealed delivered. Take it lion's!

From what I've heard on Sen.. they don't do that shit anymore.. it's just flat $500k a yr.
