Why would anyone want to come to Collingwood under the current admin and coaching group after this sh*t show?
It's fair to say we are not a destination club.

“It just got to the point where Jaidyn was keen to play for North Melbourne.”

Who the fu** does he think he’s fooling? The kid literally said an hour beforehand that he didn’t want to leave Collingwood....
Yeah,it’s like Trumpian double speak, where every word uttered is the exact opposite of the truth

Overall, you've got to be happy with that!.
We got another 1st round pick in a draft the club really likes.
We got rid of some excessive contracts.
We may even be able to turn our 2x 1st rounders into a top 10 pick.

Out: Treloar, Stephenson, Phillips
In: Potentially a top 10 pick, McKinnes, and an extra $2m salary cap space.

We may just be able to turn an ordinary situation into a win.

Go Pies!!!!
We're still paying Treloar.

Now that the trade period has been run and done and we know the outcome I'm happy to provide my thoughts on our offseason so far.

Overall it's not a great outcome for Collingwood. It wasn't helped by Ned Guy when he finally came out to speak publicly who didn't do a great job in selling the plan. To be fair I've only seen part of the FoxFooty interview and it was a bit of a hostile environment, but the fact is that Ned is also not a good media performer and our PR department was sleeping on the job. If he had've come out said our cap was out we've been trying to manage it for a few years but it came to a crunch this year especially with the reducing cap and we needed to bite the bullet and fix it whilst still putting ourselves into some sort of decent position for the draft I could have accepted it. Not happy, but you would go okay fair enough, but he just didn't sell or explain the plan that gives you confidence.

The realities are the four players we lost (Stephenson, Atu, Treloar and Phillips) weren't the worst to lose, but to lose them the way we did hurts. To be fair to Guy, it's not entirely his fault, he has inherited some of this mess. But he hasn't helped much in the situation, the only question is whether that's on him or whether behind the scenes there's been other interference that has effected it.

The only real positive is that with two 1st round draft picks in the teens plus still having 2021 first round and two 2021 second round draft selections gives us some currency to improve our draft position for the 2020 draft. Unless the rule has changed having two 2021 second round draft selections would allow us to move our 2021 first round and one of those 2021 second round selections for draft picks this year if we choose. Also with the rule change today that allows clubs to draft only selection this year, those two late draft selections could well wind up being picks in the 40s.

I would hope the club will be doing a full review, and I do think that it's time for new leadership at the top. I'd like to see changes at board level. But unlike many here I'm not going to tear up my membership or walk away from my club. I'm not going to be a bandwagon supporter only jumping on when things are going well and jumping off when things are going poorly. I stuck with the club through the nightmare that was the 90s and this is nowhere near that level of bleakness. For better or worse I'm a Collingwood supporter and I'm proud of it.

It's all well and good supporting through thick and thin when you are crappy on field. But when we have our list manager seriously telling us this was about improving our list, and the pricks attempted to use Treloar partner as a way to move him to QLD when it is now crystal clear it was their mismanagement, when nobody speaks to Stephenson about the fact decision as they want him out. These are things our leaders are responsible for.

Now I love Collingwood and always will, it's impossible not to, but to say that us who are angry are just bandwagoners is silly. I'd just as easily call you a blind cult member.

Who is McKinnes?

Clearly the idea is to trade 14 & 16 for one of the Bombers top 10 picks... probably pick 8. And with a gentleman’s agreement they won’t bid on Reef before our pick.

One problem with that plan... you have to deal with Adrian Dildildo. The bloke will want pick 14 and 16 and offer us a 4th rd pick and James Hirds reputation in return
I doubt our staff has the skill to even work that out atm.

Montagna just mentioning on FoxFooty that he's very bullish about Robert Harvey going to North as their new coach.
Please let this be true
He’s missed out on about 27 senior coaching roles, so unfortunately I don’t think it’s going to happen for him now. About time a few of the deeply embedded coaches at Collingwood were moved on.

Good question Loki, sure looks that way tonight!
We will either have had a surprisingly good season or a new regime this time next year, if we have the cash i still think we will be able to 'sell the positive either way' and get players to commit.

What bothers me most about this whole thing is
- We paid a lot for Treloar did we over pay well looking at what we got back yes (i do think he butchers the ball), we signed him or extended him to a new deal
and then basically wanted to off load him and managed it so poorly we lowered his value and got under's for him(and would have been humiliating for him and made club look terrible wait till he tells his story later) and did we assess him properly when we got him, kicking etc to make sure he suited our needs.

- Stephenson off field issues but a talent, a top 10 pick, how can we not develop him, instead i see this quote from Stephenson after the draft about our coach ""He also said he saw a few things this year, which he didn't like [in me] as a footballer and that's probably completely fair enough" but gee can't we develop our talent, Mick may have been past his use by but he could certainly get the best out of players (Swan case in point) seems that Bucks doesn't have that we have players like Sier even De Goey to a point just stagnating on our list not really improving, De Goey all the tools to be a beast like Martin in mid, but hasn't taken that step.

- Phillips I don't know, I did hear his manager say he wants to play on wing this was a big influence on his choice, is that another development issue?

There you go!
We have improved our list!!!!

You are kidding!!!!!!
Got to bookmark that link.
Trying to not bottom out are we?
But traded out two talented young players, one a rising star winner of just 24 months ago, for not very good draft picks in a year no one actually knows the progression of the players on offer in the draft.
Only Collingwood......

For what it’s worth, I think most of what we owe players for leaving will be paid out next year. There’s no way it’s sustainable to do for the next 5 years.

also if I was to guess, no news is probably news that Langdon is playing on

Somehow I have to explain to my son tomorrow that Adz, Atu, Flip and Stevo are all gone and we got essentially nothing in return.

Less than zero chance of a 2021 membership from me, and until there is sweeping regime change at the club that won't change.

This is too much.

Knightmare what talent can we get with our mediocre first round picks? Also does anyone know where Reef lives? Someone needs to tell him to stop testing well or perhaps fake an acl.

The hope for the Pies is a bid for Reef comes after those picks.

Some I'd have on my shortlist with the existing picks:
Finlay Macrae, Heath Chapman, Jack Carroll, Brayden Cook and while he may go second round I'm also a big fan of Sam Berry.

Archie Perkins is another some will like around the Pies pick, and there will be hopes from some that tall KPPs Zach Reid and Nik Cox will be available, though personally I feel late draft there will be better options with Jackson Callow and Kaine Baldwin two who could fall late.

*As a disclaimer, don't be surprised if the picks are moved up. There is talk that Collingwood haven't finished with moving the picks.

Personally if there was knowledge a bid on Reef would come after those first picks, I'd be fine holding firm and taking some of those guys. Macrae is like his brother, Chapman like a Birchall, Carroll has some Pendles, Cook is a good forward who can replace Stephenson and is a late bloomer who grew approx 7cm this year. Berry is another Caleb Serong and can be a really good midfielder as that midfielder I feel people are sleeping on as a really nice ball winner and tackler, but he also has the speed and skills. So there are some guys around those picks where if they develop well, they can become good footballers.
