Definitely a risk no doubt, but if it was to pay off and get a Logan McDonald or similar it would be worth it.

We could also have 2nd tier of 2 or 3 players that we could target for just this years 2 x 1sts to move up the order.

A plan is trading out players for picks. We’ve traded 3 players, and all our second rounders for pick 14. They really need to stop trying to spin it

He was at the nogiating table also sat on list committee decisions that saw Beams return, and signed Grundy to a millstone deal.

That will give us a fresh slate.

They are saying we are paying 150k pa for the life of the current contract.

We are also paying for phillips to be at Hawks.

Like a lot of Pies fans I was bitterly disappointed with what transpired during the trade period.

At this moment it looks like a massive stuff up all round but I'm prepared to hold my fire until at least the draft.

I know, I know you may say I'm kidding myself but what if we are able to do the following

- Trade our 2 x 2020 1st + 2021 1st to get into the pointy end of this years draft to get 1 of the top talent whilst picking up Reef Mcinnes with later picks
- 2021 Draft - pick up Nick Daicos using 2 x 2nds etc
- Target a gun free agent next year to fill a need.

If we are able to do something like the above will supporters still feel as angry or look back at the events with a different perspective?

All good in theory but a club has to do the deal. The player we want had to be there. If we could manage to get Logan McDonald Reef and Nick next year then that’s a reasonable result for us

Surely we aren’t paying any for Phillips for pick 65. He was only contracted for one more year on ok money. Hawks could easily have offered him 3 years and absorbed his 2021 money over a longer period.

Hi Pies fans, I come in peace. I know as footy fans we all love our players and are devastated when a player moves on, so to lose several in such a brutal way makes no sense. Can honestly say that there’s no gloating from our club’s perspective with regard to signing Adam, most of us can’t understand how it even happened. Footy is tribal as we all know but sometimes we can put down our swords and feel real empathy for people who just plainly love their footy club and don’t deserve to have it thrown back in their face. I hope you can work your way through the situation and pick up some good kids in the draft. Also hope those kids don’t feel too much pressure given Ned Guy’s explanation last night. Cheers HD

• In exit interview, this was reinforced to him. The phone call wasn't the first time he was told of issues. It has been explained numerous times.
• He was made "well aware" of short comings, and what he needed to do to improve - from coaches and team mates.
• Cap situation has been "hugely exaggerated".
• Won't comment on Treloar salary after move to Dogs. "Have never done that".
• Says it's fair for fans to question the outcomes from trades (in terms of draft picks). He understands the "immediate emotion" of replacing "flesh and blood" with "draft picks".
• Happy to secure future draft picks, and use these to improve draft position.
• "To get better, have to give up good players".
• Played poor in finals, we aren't good enough. Need to improve, and best way to do so is to go to draft.
• "We will always respect our members and supporters". "We will go to them at appropriate times, in the appropriate forums".
• "In an ideal world, you would pay 100% on contract each year and start new year with new slate".

Some of this is paraphrased, but close to what he said.

To do all that you actually need good draft picks not end of first rounds and a future 2nd. Did they even bother to question him further on the little value we got.

They are mistaking peoples anger of losing the players for a packet of skittles vs losing them for value (which would of actually gave us the picks neeeded to refresh).

I can’t for the life of me understand how they think they’ve gotten into the draft. We got sweet FA in terms of picks!!!!

They cant say much else other then we went to the trade table and too our own lube and we liked it.
