Doesn't sit right with me the way we handled Deledio. No interest then coming in hard late when we heard the Giants wanted him? Seems amateurish TBH.
If the final result of us looking at Delideo was the Giants having to pay slightly more for him then it sits very well with me. No harm no foul.

Macrae is always our second best player - a gun
Each time I rewatch the gf I am more and more convinced the norm smith should have ended up around Macrae's neck.

A little bit off topic...

...but he's a great example of why the "metres gained" stat is over-rated.

Sure, someone can run 20 and kick it 50, but it's not much good if it ends up with the opposition (say, Grundy, for example... ;) ) in possession.
Meanwhile (without seeing the numbers) Macrae's often short and sideways kicks into the middle to open up the field are less statistically 'relevant', but just as, if not more important.

The link here is for people pushing Pittard for next year.
I took a fair bit of notice of him this year...and to be fair his kicking is actually pretty good...but don't fall for the 'numbers'.
His defending is average and his marking ability in even the slightest contested situation is non-existent.
He's ok, but there's no big pay check going his way.

Who cares that the Great Waste of Space got Delido. When all is said and done it still comes down to our magnificent 22 players vs their 22 hotch potch of 1st rounders and old timers trying to steal a cheap flag. They might have better sounding names as depth players in the NEAFL but that is irrelevant on game day, they are not on the field!
Once the ball is bounced the scoreboard is 0-0 and the team with the best combination of game plan, intent, desire and heart will win. I will back our champion team to beat their team of (potential) champions :)

And next year lets aim for Kelly or whoever else is coming out of contract. it does not matter if we do not sign them but lets ensure GWS pay maximum dollars putting pressure of their salary cap.

Not sure we need depth in mid sized players.

The talls listed well Petrie and Fisher (who plays tall) are cooked. Dawes and Brown never went in the oven. While Clarke, even in the unlikely event he is fit, just doesn't seem a good 'cultural fit'...so no.

Possibly X Richards? Tall and quickish. Possibly could be trained to play Hamling role?? May depend in who is left at P50.

Still think we are a tall shy of ok list balance.
Don't mind this. His brother Teddy was tried mainly as a forward early days at Essendon I believe. He became a good defensive player at Sydney. Maybe the X-Man might be similar.

Josh can play at almost every spot, perks of GWS early development a lot of kids moved spots so he wouldn't be out of place.
He would replace Murphy off half back

AFL is slowly becoming the NBA with friends talking about joining teams etc
Kelly and mcstay to the dogs confirmed

Anybody want to have a go at Josh Kennedy if Cloke fisses out.
Doesn't kick enough goals :p nah, I don't think you'd find much opposition to signing Kennedy if he was willing to come to us (unless it was on insane money).

say at worst case bob, moyd and moz all retire and adams ends up back in wa, our backline will be severly undermanned.
We definetly need to recruit a couple of good ones next year

Got to start somewhere. Lets go with Cordy, Williams and Roarke Smith.
Every club faces these challenges.

I don't really mind losing Koby for not much. He's a role player who did just that for us. Came in, played his role as a stop-gap, hard body mid, and he'll go do the same at the Saints.

Also before I go further just want to clarify I'm not dragging a player's name through the mud just because he's no longer with us- I appreciate what he came in to do for us, I just think we've moved past him. Anyway...Yes, his Brownlow votes would indicate he's more than a stop-gap player. I feel, however, those votes reflect the outdated thinking of any disposal=good disposal. He does (when in form) bring positive attributes like pressure, tackling, throwing his weight around etc- but we need to limit turnovers and massively improve the type of delivery our forwards get from our mids.

Of course, counter argument to his iq/awareness/turnovers being an issue is that we regularly play Jong and Dunkley; but I don't think the team has room for all three of them. How many goals scored against us come from errant handballs/kicks leading to a fast break for the other team? Both of them might be worse in terms of turnovers than Koby, admittedly. Looking at averages for this season, he has both of them beat in a few positive categories, and averaged more tackles than Jong. So I completely get why people would want him to stay. He does offer some nice attributes.

Just seems like Bevo and co have Jong and Dunkley ahead of Koby and that there isn't room for all three. Dunkley they seem to rate the most, he's only 19 and already one of the best tackling/pressuring mids we have. So really I think it comes down to Jong v Koby. They seem to prefer Jong, and if that's what Bevo thinks, then it's the right choice. Hell, with some of the ins next season, who knows if/for how long we play both Dunkley and Jong; maybe by the end of next year just one will be guaranteed a spot, in which case there would certainly be little room for Koby to get a regular gig. Best of luck to him, at this stage I'd expect him to have a similar career at the Saints as he did for us, but maybe he improves his awareness and becomes a real weapon, in which case well played by the Saints.

Areas of potential improvement for next year.

Roughie - 2nd full year in the ruck.
T Boyd - following on from his breakout finals season.
Cloke in support (potentially) in the forward half
Dunkley, Williams, Dale, Webb, Collins etc.
Clay and Libba get an additional PS after overcoming knee injuries
Crameri back and the potential release it brings to Stringer.
Murphy back
Wallis possibly back.
Stringer - fixes his injury problems, additional F50 support and another PS into his legs
Another PS into a little known player, M Bontempelli....
Plus whoever we pick up in the draft....

And that's adding to a side that just won the whole ****ing thing.....

Add in the midfield, you'll see guys like Wallis hunter and MacRae shift to the backline.

Also said before cordy Williams and smith will all get good time in the backline ne,t season

Lobb is a ruckman who plays as a forward and will but needed in the ruck soon enough.

Haynes and Thommo can only play on third forwards, just not big enough to play on the no 1 and 2 forwards. Against us last year, they had to resort to playing Patton in defence- without Davis they are just too small in defence.

Can see why we chased Hurley. Shame we missed, wonder if has any regrets after seeing how good the Dogs already are and we're only gonna get better.

I cant believe that people are just saying nothing re Lids saying his taking a pay cut....:)

I call Bull...it there is no way he would drop his pay to go interstate they offered major overs and it would be in a contract to Assistant coach advanced payments ...

Please AFL give us a spell watching that smug Wayne Campbell saying he just wanted to play in a premiership team if I was a Richmond supporter I would be spewing..
