Would need to pay someone out to manage it. Or promise him we'll pick him at pick 82 in the draft if still available and not to sign anywhere as a DFA.We have to keep Crameri now somehow
I'm not sure of the ins and outs of it all but he must be retained on the list for at least one more year. I think Dickson is finished.
I think I have a few more useless posts in me!Not yet. 69 posts to go to crack the 10,000. We need your help.

I don't know, that seemed pretty clearly to me to be a ploy to get us to fold on the Stringer deal. "If you don't take these picks we'll go after Schache with them" or something like that.Dons were pretty keen on Schache apparently. That makes me feel good

1 just 1Taking bets on how many rounds it takes us to completely destroy Schaches elite set shot accuracy
They would want to add a bit of pace and pressure to that fwd line and get a decent goal kicking coach for my liking. Boyd and Schache are both lumbering forwards as opposed to fast reacting leading forwards. I hope that they both work out but they both still have a long way to go. The fruits of this labour may not be apparent still for another 3-4 years, but both are still very young and key position players always take longer to mature so you cannot judge them in their first 3-4 years. It usually takes 5-8 years for them to develop, a lot like ruckman.Wow. My life is complete finally a forward line worth watching!
Been watching Schache for some time and just now saw the highlights video the club has released.
Now Mick McGuane (amongst others) came out and said in the past week "Schache doesn't like the contest".
All I can say is I don't believe these guys know what the F they are talking about. Hit the contest ok for a big bloke if you ask me (not forgetting he was 19 when the highlights vid was captured).
Definitely didn't want to go to Brisbane in his draft year, hated it up there, but is a real talent. Can take a mark, beautiful kick, moves ok and showed in the video an understanding of game sense. Plenty to work with and I'm confident under Bevo and the development we can put into him that he could become another Joe Daniher.
Yes, probably not professional enough in his last year in Brisbane when he just couldn't stand being there (although it drastically reduced his trade value), but so much less baggage than Jake (and we saw how that reduced his trade value).
But the net result is all that counts. Surely you can see that?
The assets from Essendon were instrumental in getting both the pick 16 and Schache deals done. It's why some on here were asking those who were losing their heads to just chill and wait until 2:00pm Thursday. You can't judge a trade period for years probably, but you certainly can't judge it before it's even finished.
Not really much of a silver liningIf anybody is still concerned about us trading away our 2nd next year, I'd just remind people that we have 19 players coming out of contract next year. Four of these will be RFAs: Libba, Dahl, Rough and Wallis. Two others: Wood and Picken come out of contract a year or two later but are essentially 10 year players. I certainly don't want to sound a doom-sayer but if any of these have poor seasons next year, trading scenarios will certainly open up.
Perhaps he will mature and get better, but I was losing my faith in him this year and I am usually fairly optimistic.Just can’t help but feel sad about the Stringer situation. Not sure any of us will ever know how bad it really was.
He was a fan favourite, gave us a bit of hope when times were tough.
Pretty confident he will find his feet like Martin and Stevie J did.
Pretty rare you trade away a 23 year old AA so cheaply. Can’t see us ever giving the full story, we have to hope Schache kicks on to make up for it

Yeah coz apparently Jake was throwing it around like chips at the casino.
Correct, it may have been necessary to get pick 40 added into this years deal which may have swayed the Schache deal. Who knows for sure, maybe Carlton wouldn't have done the deal without it. You could look at it as Stringer for 16 and Schache for this years and next years second rounders. Not bad when you think of it like that. We might think Stringer is worth more than 16 but based on his last two years he may not be and Schache may not be worth two second rounders but he was originally a number 2 pick who is a key forward and they take longer than normal to develop. You can't look at all players the same in terms of development. The big guys generally take longer. Overall I think we made the best of a pretty bad situation in regards to Stringer. How do you know it was unnecessary?
