So proud of our club - kept our word, stood firm and did not waiver.

We do not get bullied by the so called bigger clubs anymore.

Time to wrap our arms back around Dunks and get around Treloar - poor bloke has been terribly treated.

I reallly hope JUH gets passed by everyone until the Bumbers pick 6 and Adrian callls his name only for SP to go - “ahhh checkmate again shagger”.

Can’t wait to see Dunkley bursting out of the centre next year and kicking goals against Essendon. How salty will their fans be? Or Dunkley feeds the ball out to a bursting Treloar who hits up Jamarra on the lead for a goal..... even better
Bursting out of the centre? He’ll be lucky to get a gig on the bench, did someone say #stacked

So we have 5 picks that are worth points, and in order to use them we need 5 list spots open. Which means all 6 uncontracted senior players would have to go ( as we have 39 atm). Means 54 probably just drops off and we go in with 4

So Collingwood traded the draft picks it got for Jaidyn Stephenson to the Bulldogs in the Treloar deal. Essentially, the Magpies traded Treloar, Stephenson and Bosenavulagi for pick 14 and a future second-round pick. Good grief...

We effectively get Treloar and JUH and lose Pick 14....
...and paid us $300k for the privilege

Absolutely loved what Power did, I am so pumped with what we did today.

But,

I love Dunkley, he was one of my favourite players before this trade period, but am I the only one who kind of wishes he did get to Essendon? I think Power did the right thing because the Bombers offer wasn't what we wanted, but I just wish we had the clean break of a guy who didn't want to be here anymore. We now have to juggle 7 quality mids into 3-4 spots (too many quality mids isn't the worst thing on earth of course, but I would rather have an extra quality player in a position we need) and likely have a lot of awkward interviews and articles with Dunkley all season until next trade period.

We definitely did the right thing, but I kind of wish Essendon just offered us the two firsts, we sold high on Dunks and could move forward with the Adam Treloar era and just had guys here who we knew wanted to be here etc. Am I crazy?

Treloar could certainly teach Jack Macrae a thing or two about taking your chances when in range.

This is what I’m most looking forward to, hope it happens. Back yourself in, take a shot on the run - unless you’re kicking it to Wallis or Naughton set shots aren’t going through anyway.

54 still worth some points though which if Jamarra is bid on pick 1 we will need

Ive never seen a reaming like this.

Its remarkably bad.

Guy must surely go.
We had to give up Pick 6, our captain and pay some of Griffen's salary to get Tom Boyd. I'd do it all again, but it was a remarkably bad deal at the time also.

Stoked that this time we're not on the receiving end for I think literally the first time ever however.

But, but our strategy was to get into this draft so having two late first rounders and losing two best 22 players is a good thing!

That interview was a car crash. He basically denied the premise of every question while the club burned behind him. Eddie must be going nuts right now.

He would have had Eddie’s complete backing before any of that happened.

They knew what was coming, and would have agreed on a strategy.

Ned Guy would have been asked to take the hit, and been given assurances to do so.

Thanks. And I'd imagine you got a bit of respite coming over here rather than that carnival of shithouse emotions your own board must be now.
Ah well, as my old man used to tell me; today's disappointment is tomorrow's opportunity. Dunkley wouldn't have cured our club of what ails us (he would have definately been a step in the right direction though!), I'm looking forward to seeing a proper rebuild and a new journey. Footballs an emotional business, that's what makes it great IMO. At the end of the day we as supporters of any club want to see success and have a hope for the future.

Alas, your board isn't the place for my musings. Be well and may the road rise to meet you.

No. There appears a strong likelihood that another trade period will be opened up once the AFL announce the reduced list sizes that have been predicted. So it could still happen yet, but would certainly need to include a future 1st from Essendon rather than two early picks from this draft.

Big difference in paying the $500kish for one year like we did for Griffen, and paying $1.5 million over the length of 5 years for Treloar though.

I have some sympathy for him.

A young guy probably feeling a bit disillusioned about where he stands at the club and Essendon thought they exploit the situation and we would roll over. They are looking pretty pathetic over this.

I would really like to see the club get around him now and put it all in the past.

Both can be true though.

We can think that two top 10 picks are better than Dunkley, but we can also think that Dunkley next year is better than pick 8 and a future 2nd. Dunkley's value is in between the two, so we did the right thing, as you say.
