If dogs get Lobb maybe JUH will play a fwd flank role with stints on the wing. He's mobile enough to do so. Just a question on tank. Right now it's Williams on 1 wing with a mash up of players on the other.
I think given our conversion skills, we’d want a kick as straight and reliable as JUH inside the forward 50 as much as possible.

He has done wel becoming an outlet kick on the wing at times as well though so your idea definitely has merit.

Yes I'm thinking maybe the forward line can work with Lobb, Bruce, Naughton & JUH all playing.

Having 4 KPF will allow them to seperate and ALL be providing a long option. This will speed up our ball movement and IF our midfielders can identify the go to matchup, we can become the fastest transition team in the AFL.

The biggest thing this will do is allow kicks down the line and then the ability to turn and go to another 1or 2 big targets in the 50. So many teams, us included, have their big forward take a mark on the wing or high half forward and have nowhere to go.

We can actually camp a big forward in the 50 and move the ball quickly to prevent double teaming, or use one of 3 50m line targets in the other 2 forwards and/or Timmy.

Naughts applies pressure like a small, West and Weightman are good pressure players too, Marra and Bruce are working on it but getting better. Bruce at his best was solid for a big forward.

The reality is they’re not all going to be available or warranting selection at the same time for more than maybe a handful of games at a time. Adding Lobb would give us the redundancy we need not to have to toy with structure or makeshift options every time one or more of Naughton, Bruce, English or JUH is unavailable.

Look at Brisbane: Daniher, Hipwood, McStay, McInerney and Fort have all played between 10-16 games this year but only occasionally all in the same side.

Fair or not the ACL for Brucey moved up the timeline for planning life without him. He can't be judged on his output until next year though and as long as he proves his ability to stay fit I am very confident he will be offered a short term deal at some time year. Loves the club, involved with the womens team and looks to be a great mentor/friend to Naughty and Marra.

The ball already waltz out of our forward line straight down the other end for a score so we may as well give ourselves the best chance of marking any entry we get. I’m all for the 4, when two are Jamarra & Naughty who could both play high HF roles with Lobb & Bruce deep.

Will always be one on the pine and sometimes one in the ruck too. I dont think it’s too top heavy tbh.

Would mean you go small in defence and can swing one back if needed

I think we’re writing Keath off a bit early. Obviously carrying niggles but could be our intercepting answer next season if we get someone else to play on the gorillas.
Keath needs to lean up a little. He seems to have built himself up too much to play on the big forwards. He has lost a yard of pace.
I would like him to lose a little weight and get more to that hybrid interceptor KPD that we are so desperate for.

Quick spiel on GWS, they has been masters at losing their best players, getting draft picks back and replenishing the war chest so to speak. However that drain can only go on for long until they completely bottom out. They are in for some pain, especially when you consider this:

"The Giants are already paying million-dollar men Kelly and Stephen Coniglio, while fellow stars Greene and Lachie Whitfield are both earning in excess of $900,000 per season.

Star defender Nick Haynes is also entering the final two years of a heavily back-ended contract.

Were the Giants to keep Taranto and Hopper, there would be seven players at GWS next season earning $6.5 million - half of the team’s salary cap."

Jason McCartney everyone

What this doesn't even cover is the length of contracts. Coniglio is contracted until the end of 2026 and Kelly until the end of 2029.

Their cap problems have existed before McCartney joined them but he hasn't helped things. I would look at Himmelberg who has a year left to go on his contract.

The crazy Coniglio and Kelly deals were in McCartney's time at the club.

From the outside looking in, it felt as though the cap issues they faced initially were the expected kind: too many talented kids looking for their next payday at the same time. JMac's response to that was seemingly to sign all of the best players to absurd contracts to get them to stay, then trade out all of their depth. I acknowledge it wasn't all him, but gee - a lot of those contracts were in his time, and all of them were desperate overs to get them to stay.

Perfect storm for all club to go and raid shake the cage and see what falls out

GWS are never going to succeed if they have to keep giving out ridiculous deals to keep players.

Hopefully their new coach continues to mistreat Tom Green as well, the way they yank him around and then drop him would make Bevo proud.

I think we want Lobb (if the rumour is actually true) because we want to win now...not just in 3 years' time when Darcy is likely to be at Lobb's current standard. People are expecting way too much from Darcy, as he will probably need two to four seasons to really make a big enough impact. Lobb fills the gap until Darcy is able to consistently play seniors at a high level.
Exactly, Lobb is worth it to in our forwardline,
