To the all the ‘English was flying prior the concussion’ people. Only 6 Brownlow votes 2x3 votes vs Swans rnd3 where Hickey was injured played less than half the game. Rucked against Armety and Maclean as well.
2nd 3 votes came vs west coast against with Sweet playing against Williams and jamieson.
Gawn got a vote against him in the Melbourne game we won.

I maintain a major problem is our first ruck much more than who is our second.
Unless the coaching department sees this we won’t be improving the side.

Thoughts on Libbas 7 votes?

More the attitude and behavior of a group of players on the list.

One or two I can live with but if it’s a “group” and it’s systemic then we need to read the room and tackle it. I don’t mind partying hard if you play hard but as a collective the latter has dropped this year. As fans we’ve all commented a few players don’t seem to care or appear to not be in the greatest shape. The drinking and stuff doesn’t matter when things are going well but if it’s at the point where a general malaise is carried over into training and match day we need to address it.
It might just be Dunkley is naive and different to most and we have little to worry about. I just hope the club at least listens and understands his reasons before dismissing them. Regardless of what you think of him it’s not the norm to lose a player like him interstate for reportedly not that much more money.

Watching finals did make me think English may never be a competitive finals worthy number 1 ruck.

This year is make or break for timid Timmy. Needs to show further improvement in the ruck role and more aggression in his game overall or its second ruck/forward from now on.

The Brownlow medal is not a good take on a ruckman at all. Based on your logic, we have the equal 2nd best ruckman in the comp.

Gawn - 12 votes
English - 6 votes
Darcy - 6 votes
Witts - 4 votes

Macraes game will age well as its built on footy smarts, his big frame and hard running
Too conservative with ball in hand this year for mine. He can change that with some decent coaches at the club and a decent game plan. I would prefer to see him handball quickly to running players more often like Ed, Smith and Treloar.

Some of that may be our forwards not presenting hard enough - Naughts double teamed, Marra seemed to work it out 'late'

He just needs a proper backup ruck which is why Lobb was targeted. He did wonderful with a tandem ruck.
True - Soldo last year, Lobb this year. We're trying to find decent support.
I really don't want Cordy/Hannan/Khamis anywhere near the second ruck role ever again

Not using it as take on ruckman, using it to prove he wasn’t flying as suggested.
The last 4 finals losses is proof enough on how good a ruck he is.

Can't agree to this. Dunkley is Mr Consistent and does a job anywhere.
He’s certainly a very good player but for the dogs I’d have liked to see more of the bull he can be. His start of last year as a full season. Wish to have seen a full year of it in dogs colours

I agree. I think Bruce would of helped in the final when the team needed someone else to ruck while English rested. I was surprised he was dropped for Keath too. He would of helped too when dogs could barely mark the ball in the forward half in the 2nd half.

Bruce was out of shape and in terrible form though. His condition probably hastened the need for mature support in the front half.

Maybe that's why we are chronic under achievers. Maybe if we were a bit more professional that a few more flags would be in the bank

I agree. If we had been a bit more professional with our coaching, skills and player development, strategy and tactics and our high performance department, we probably would have more flags by now. That's what counts.

Had his 3rd best year ever for production, 2nd best for clearances and best for 1%ers. #3 ranked ball winner in the comp this year, only Oliver and Neale got more of it. Alarming.

He also for some Bevocentric reason played far less in the guts. Was often on the wing.

It's my experience in sporting teams that the more professional and dedicated you are , the more successful you are

Nothing wrong with Khamis has a great leap has pace can mark can play back or forward has enormous up side

Thanks captain.
You disagree?
What do we want?
i want us to be professional and successful. Have the whole club run like a well-oiled machine. If players are paid big money to be professional athletes representing our club that my multiple memberships pay for, then I don't think it is too much to ask for our players to act accordingly.

I think it's more that he shouldn't be pinch hitting in the ruck. Most talls that pinch hit are at the very least pretty strong, Khamis doesn't have the core strength to wrestle at a throw in.

He's 190cm and still developing. I am specifically discussing the 2nd ruck role.

Is "Why do you want to leave your club?".. "I'm too professional" from the same, how to get promoted, book as "what's your biggest weakness?"... "I work to hard"?

Why have you mentioned the Geelong pick? Have they been linked to Hunter somewhere?

Geelong have chased Hunter the last few years. They know his off field situation and we’re still chasing him. I don’t think anything has changed in their thinking…. They just want as many experienced players as possible, to keep the window open.
