I respect him choosing to leave - we are a rabble and I would f*cking hate playing footy for Bevo. He is a good player who will be a better player with a permanent midfield role and no BS rucking duties. Hopefully him leaving can bring about some change but I fear we are stuck with Bevo and his mad scientist ways in the medium term.
What ruck duties has he had? Any stats, like how many he contested? If he was the ultimate professional, why would he worry about going up for a couple of ruck contests for? What a stupid post.

I don't see how this deal gets done. He is one of our best mids
I can think of four better before Dunkley's name even comes to mind, and that's just off the top of my head. Liberatore, Bontempelli, McCrae, Smith, will be in years to come. Liberatore is really the "barometer" to your midfield. They walk taller when he's around. Dunkley's heart is not in it and is overrated anyway, and it if goes through, will soon to be overpaid.

Wouldn’t mind a trying dodgy 3-way deal with North to get Brisbane their 3rd Round priority pick and which includes not bidding on Ashcroft at pick 1. That’s worth 483 points to Brisbane (or 386 with the 20% discount).

While I’ve been the biggest supporter of playing 2 capable ruckman, the Dunks in the ruck areas are getting massively overblown on here.

It didn’t happen that much ffs.
Yep, Martin, Fyfe, Cripps, Dangerfield have contested more Ruck contests and won more hitouts than Dunks.

The hand wringing over his whole Ruck commitments is wildly disproportionate to the actual events.

Some of the comments on here about Dunkley are embarrassing and quite frankly reek of people having a good ole sook.

The guy gave his absolute all in all aspects of the game and also off the field. If you doubt this and are currently sitting there behind your keyboard munching on some Doritos and downing a Mountain Dew then you need to have a good look at yourself.

Its a professional league and players move on. Disappointing but you need to look forward.
The bitter disconnect and reaching to criticise Dunkley for being self absorbed social media whore, playing purely for himself or to attract outside interest. Whilst at the same time ignoring the fact that we have another player on our list who was dumb enough to be photographed with illicit drugs, has more insta followers and outside deals than just about anybody in the league is pretty strange.

He contested 17 contests had 2 hit outs during the 23 games he played this year.

By contrast Josh Bruce coming off a knee reconstruction had 48 ruck contests in 5 games.

Whatever the reason for him wanting to leave. I don't imagine that contesting fewer ruck contest than Mitch Hannan was one of them.

Not a bad idea, I wonder what the terms are for the trade? Needs to be for a player but what about a 3way trade? I’m guessing a player has to end up at North in exchange for the pick

No, I think we're through with the dodgy deals. We get burnt too often. :) It wouldn't happen anyway, it's a different ball game now. You could have kept Lachie Young. He's been starting to look reasonable. I wouldn't really be concerned about the Dunkley situation. That's the second time in two years he's been looking at outside deals and if Essendon had've been able to satisfy Footscray, who knows. You don't want him.

Dunkley did an okay defensive role last year when he was underdone and playing a role post shoulder op but nothing other worldly. His tackling numbers were the highest at the club this year but I never got the sense he could impact the contest when he doesn’t have a ball. Maybe I’m just scarred from our mid season game v. Geelong when Selwood just shook him off at will + showed him a clean set of heels all game.

Brisbane still heavily into Gunston. If they land him, and Gardiner goes, does that impact the pick that they’d get for Gardiner?

How about this trade for Dunkley?

Bulldogs get pick 15 and next year‘s first from Brisbane (Brisbane lose 1112 points)
Brisbane get Dunkley and pick 37 from us (Brisbane gain 483 points)
Brisbane get pick 36 as McStay compo (Brisbane gain 502 points)
Brisbane trade next year’s second to Gold Coast for pick 34 (Brisbane gain 542 points)

Brisbane get Dunkley and have 2486 points which is enough to cover Ashcroft at pick 1.

Gardiner trade out gives them more points, but not sure how they get Gunston without losing McStay compo.

It might be overs or unders but there is enough to get the job done.

Actually, they trade Gardiner for the equivalent of pick 36 as he is a restricted free agent, no compo for McStay as they pick up Gunston.

I've been playing around with the numbers and assuming they get end of first round for mcstay we could probably have a crack at getting that too. They'll be looking to sell that for a points profit anyway so why not to us.

Trade in R1, F1 and pick 20ish for Dunkley and a bunch of our picks to give them a points upgrade. 29 and 37 is already probably around the mark for that. Maybe even send a future 3rd or something back to them for some more points for next year.

Something like Lions first rounder, 2023 first rounder and pick 20 to us
Lions get Dunkley, pick 29, 37, 65 and a future 3rd

No way they get end of first round for McStay.

Dahlhaus compo was pick 25.

Not sure about that, Brad Crouch got tier 2 compo, cant imagine he'd be on a huge amount

There is no transparency on the formula so we are all just guessing

We are obviously not getting three first rounders for an out of contract Dunkley, regardless of how late those firsts are.

other tier 2 compos in recent years have been Lycett, Rockliff, Motlop. Seems to be a Port theme going on there.

Media are reporting Mcstay is 650k ona 5 year deal. Should shit it in for tier 2 compo if thats true

you could try reading the post. there's a fair bit more going on there than just collecting 3 picks from dunkley

Lions arent going to keep that mcstay pick, why not have us buy it from them instead of someone else
