How about this one:

  • We trade Dunkley plus next year's third round pick to Brisbane.
  • Brisbane trade this year's first and next year's second to us and agree to pay 10% of McStay's salary for the next 5 years.
  • Hawthorn trade Gunston to Brisbane in exchange for next year's fourth-rounder.
  • Geelong swap next year's third- and fourth-round picks with Richmond.
  • Richmond on-trade the 2023 third-round pick they obtained from Geelong to Brisbane.
  • North Melbourne trade their fourth-round pick to Juventas.
  • Juventas give North's fourth-round pick to an alchemist in exchange for 2 kg of solid gold.
  • The alchemist receives an end-of-second round compensation pick, which they trade to Richmond.
  • Geelong are fined $1 million and ejected from the league.

Win-win scenario, right?

you could try reading the post. there's a fair bit more going on there than just collecting 3 picks from dunkley

Lions arent going to keep that mcstay pick, why not have us buy it from them instead of someone else
Admittedly those picks back their way have a higher points value than I would have thought, that said with him being out of contract it’s still overs.

Realistically they’ll be expecting some of those pick back as change for their two first anyway, they’re unlikely to include an extra first when they can trade that to someone else for better value.

Let’s see what Sammy Power can do I guess.

How about this trade for Dunkley?

Bulldogs get pick 15 and next year‘s first from Brisbane (Brisbane lose 1112 points)
Brisbane get Dunkley and pick 37 from us (Brisbane gain 483 points)
Brisbane get pick 36 as McStay compo (Brisbane gain 502 points)
Brisbane trade next year’s second to Gold Coast for pick 34 (Brisbane gain 542 points)

Brisbane get Dunkley and have 2486 points which is enough to cover Ashcroft at pick 1.

Gardiner trade out gives them more points, but not sure how they get Gunston without losing McStay compo.

It might be overs or unders but there is enough to get the job done.
If they trade a future first, they need to retain a future second under existing trade rules

Not a bad idea, I wonder what the terms are for the trade? Needs to be for a player but what about a 3way trade? I’m guessing a player has to end up at North in exchange for the pick
Yep I think that’s right. As long as they end up with a player the AFL would be fine with it. I’m not sure which Brisbane fringe players might interest them but we could also fold Crozier to North into the deal.

Whether it’s through us or someone else, North would be crazy to not try to leverage the value they create for Brisbane by not bidding on Ashcroft. It’s worth the equivalent of a 3rd round pick.

Yeah ok, missed that. Gardner will get them a late 2nd which should do the job. Leaves next year’s second intact.

The deal I outlined gets them Dunkley, Ashcroft, Gunston for the loss of McStay and Gardiner and next year’s first.

Comparing it to our JUH and Darcy drafts, I would go for that if I were them.

What ruck duties has he had? Any stats, like how many he contested? If he was the ultimate professional, why would he worry about going up for a couple of ruck contests for? What a stupid post.

55 hit outs in 116 games - the ruck thing is just garbage, like a lot of the hysterical diatribe on this forum.

It’s amusing though - gives me something to read instead of the blanket queen coverage.

It is hysterical. The Dunks ruck story was dialled up by Dodo trying to drive a deal based on Dunks disenchantment being so irretrievable that we needed to accept the lowball deal on offer. Hilarious that so many of our fans have so solidly adopted the Dodo campaign.

What a very disappointing outcome. Do others not feel it as a stinging reflection of our club/coaching/direction, that he has effectively moved on for the same coin?

What is really going on at WO…

(However, if its a duration question, then I fully endorse the Sammy Power way of 4 yrs max contractual terms.)

The only solace I take is that it probably allows B. Smith to enter the centre square and inject some breakaway power and speed which we have been lacking.

I just heard that the LA Lakers would also like to get involved. They are offering their 2027 and 2029 2nd round picks for a bunnings power pass from NY Yankees.
The Yankees could then forwarded on to Hawthorn for a hot dog, but I think they would settle for a packet of Smith's crinkle cut salt and vinegar chips and an egg flip Big M.
Dodo and Essendon desperately want to get involved but are only offering the Yankees an expired milky-way. The are rightly told to f@ck off.
Geelong would still be fined and ejected from the league.

Yep, sums up our season.

I posted it earlier. He did those things absolutely. But he's a slow, blunt instrument, if he didn't do those things he wouldn't be a seen as a good player.

He didn't lay shepherds or blocks for teammates and he rarely gave the ball off to teammates in better positions preferring to blind kick or look for Treloar. Watch Libba or Bont as an example of someone who does this, often forgoing bigger numbers for the betterment of the team.

Then there's the refusal to play roles that were better for the team either forward or pinch hitting in the ruck. Whatever your feelings on these moves Bont and Macrae do so with minimal fuss. When it was Dunkley he's playing it out in the media.

These are not the actions of a player with a team/club mindset. Now that's fine, there's all types and we certainly benefited from his play over the years but to say he gave his all for the club is not true. He gave his all for himself.
I tend to agree with this. I would say that Dunks was a good midfielder but not a champion midfielder. His kicking was often not very good. His goal kicking for goal was pretty average. Had games where he would go missing quite a bit. Strong player, but I don't think we will miss him that much. Overall rating 6 to 6.5 out of 10.

I look forward to Smith butchering the ball even more.

That said, not like Dunks was much better.

Let’s see how West and Garcia, plus some McLean, do in covering the gap.

Just do a Real Madrid and buy any player you want for a $1 billion.

Dodo would 100% trade for Russ

I seem to recall a lot of ‘OK Andrew Dunkley’ being posted in jest before everyone realised it was in fact, Andrew Dunkley.
At the risk of getting banned I posted receipts of who this person was and it was not Andrew Dunkley but another family member.

Is it a reflection on the club/coaching/direction that all other important players that were out of contract this year re-signed?

Dale and Macrae signed 5 year extensions this year.

We can say what we want, but it doesn't work like that. We can't trade him to GC without him agreeing to a trade there
We can if the reason he wants to be there is because of family/Girlfriend, you hold no credibility when you say a reason then pick a particular club for that reason when there is another that can offer your former club a better deal
