Pretty obvious he isn't available, he has committed to Melbourne, even Graham Wright said it.The same with 95% of the names here. He is available, hasn’t named any club yet. Our ruck stocks are poor and our no1 ruck was smashed last time he played.
I can’t see any club paying more than 30. Freo just trying to squeeze out overs.Hahaha yet we are going though the some crap with Dunkley were is our article.
LOBB URGED TO CONSIDER OTHER VIC OPTIONS
Does Rory Lobb need to open up his list of Victorian suitors to beyond the Western Bulldogs?
Trade talks between the Dockers and Bulldogs are at an impasse for the key forward, with Fremantle knocking back an offer of Pick 29 – set to move back to selection 30 or 31.
It comes with Lobb contracted for next season as Fremantle has remained steadfast that it wants to retain the 29-year old despite his trade request to move to Victoria, where he’s already purchased a home and his partner and her family have relocated to.
Speaking on SEN, Dockers great Paul Hasleby backed up club list boss David Walls’ claim that if a player nominate to return to Victoria, they shouldn’t be able to choose which
That’s an interesting point because if the Dockers open it up to every Victorian club ... there’s nine clubs in Melbourne and one down the road in Geelong,” he said.
“Right now the pick coming fourth for Rory Lobb from the Western Bulldogs is not suitable (for Fremantle). I think a bit will play out with Josh Dunkley, so they may acquire some good picks that can be used on Rory Lobb.
“But if Rory Lobb really wants to get to Melbourne and live there, surely he maybe has to broaden his horizons and Fremantle can see if there’s a better deal that suits them and really tempts them to make that deal.
“Because they’re better him with him in that line-up. Take him out of that group then I think it’s not as strong and probably puts you in the bottom four in terms of key forward groups in the competition.”
He hardly played this season. Ranked 1st in hit outs in 2021 whilst kicking 12 goals but hey people say he can’t play forward. 700K pa at say pick 21 for 28yo for one of the 2 best rucks in the league is a bargain.Grundy hasn't even been that good for 2 years. Another 5 years @ 700k or whatever? Huge risk and can see Melbourne being burned
Only because we haven’t tried. Graham Wright doesn’t get to name where he is going.Pretty obvious he isn't available, he has committed to Melbourne, even Graham Wright said it.
Grundy certainly dropped off but he’s still an elite ruckman. He was genuinely the best player in the competition for a period of time (or at least top 5) so unless he held up that standard, people just assume he’s cooked. He hardly played this season. Melbourne will get burned because they don’t need another no.1 ruck
Why would they need any salary room? They’ve lost Acres, Logue, Tucker and most likely Meek and their cap wasn’t overly tight to begin with.As frustrating as it is, it makes sense we are waiting with Lobb. We can force it now and pay overs, or wait until Jackson is sorted and then they probably need Lobb off the salary books and will take a fair price.
This is kind of ridiculous, Hamling didn't get picked until the latter part of the year and it was initially as a forward. He played decently enough (without being outstanding) afterwards and people here are acting like a fair trade at the time was some massive sort of generosity on our partIf a younger premiership player but uncontracted Hamling was effectively traded for pick 35 to the same club then pick 30 is a fair for an older more flaky performer but contracted Lobb.
You could be right but I assume Jackson is being offered a monster dealWhy would they need any salary room? They’ve lost Acres, Logue, Tucker and most likely Meek and their cap wasn’t overly tight to begin with.
Having Jackson arrive simply lessens the need for Lobb, hence making the likelihood of the trade greater. I don’t think LJs 900k a year makes it unmanageable

Hit outs is an almost meaningless stat (he's got a worse hit out to hit out to advantage ratio than about 30 players who went through the ruck this year). In 2021 he was down a few possessions per game and perhaps more importantly down to 3 clearances per game. He's trending down and very few rucks are at their peak more than 3 or 4 years. He hardly played this season. So the media hype was pretty much on the money?Again the media hyped up this year's trade period as the biggest one in history.
It's been as boring as all the other ones.
There's zero chance Schache could be as good as Lobb as the 2nd ruck. As a pure forward, possibly. But in that forward/2nd ruck role that we're targeting Lobb to play, no chance.Worst case scenario - we overpay for Lobb and Schache goes for nothing. Then Schache performs just as good as Lobb in the same role elsewhere
I'd happily do a future second for Bergman... Or buttersPort are probably looking for an additional future second as the AFL blocked them from trading a future first and second. If anything it's probably something for Brisbane to get involved in

The pick is a bargain as he'll still be a good player, but paying that salary for 5 years could hinder their cap.
Thanks for the info as always. Any idea if the minor pick is this year or next? Hoping for one of their late future 2nds, but doesn’t sound likely. It's looking like we'll accept P21, F1 and some other minor pick...
If that's what Sam decides then so be it.
As long as the protagonists in this rort are remembered and we exact some revenge in the future.
Why are we sending 29 back? We’re just three days away from Wednesday’s trade deadline, and yet a multitude of blockbuster moves are yet to be completed.
We know the big deals historically take up until the 11th hour to go through as clubs bargain and posture as long as they can. And this year, we could be set for an unprecedented amount of deadline trades involving stars.
Below foxfooty.com.au analyses and predicts how the 10 biggest remaining deals of the trade period get over the line.
JOSH DUNKLEY TO BRISBANE
The Western Bulldogs were left frustrated from their latest trade talks with the Lions as the Dunkley deal has hit an impasse. There were reportedly initial discussions over the Dogs landing the Lions’ Pick 15 and a future first-round pick, however Brisbane reportedly wanted two second rounders (30 and 39) and a third rounder coming back in the exchange. The Lions then opted to trade down from their Pick 15 with the Giants to accumulate more draft points to help them land father-son pair Will Ashcroft and Jaspa Fletcher, thus worsening their hand to acquire Dunkley. SEN reported the Dogs were left “irate” and are now prepared to let Dunkley walk to the pre-season draft – a suggestion Dunkley’s manager Liam Pickering said was “ludicrous” while remaining “confident” a deal would get done. Something has to give, with the Dogs and Lions needing to meet in the middle from the originally discussed swap.
Verdict: Bulldogs receive Pick 21, future first-round pick and future second-round pick – Lions receive Dunkley, Pick 29 and future third-round pick.
