Thanks for the info as always. Any idea if the minor pick is this year or next? Hoping for one of their late future 2nds, but doesn’t sound likely.
Most of us would’ve been comfortable receiving pick 15 + F1 as the deal.

If we get that deal with just the 15 downgraded to 21 along with another minor asset, it’s not a huge margin off. Certainly not ideal but not the end of the world.

LUKE JACKSON TO FREMANTLE

Another deal that’s at a stalemate after Melbourne knocked back Fremantle’s offer of Pick 13 and a future first rounder for the young gun. The Demons are reportedly seeking a top seven pick and a future first rounder or two top 10 picks – both of which the Dockers’ clearly don’t have. West Coast remains in the picture given Jackson requested a move back to Western Australia, not Fremantle specifically, however the Eagles aren’t considered a genuine landing spot for the former Rising Star winner and premiership player. The Dockers’ equivalent of getting Pick 13 up to Pick 7 is around 400 draft points – or a selection in the early 40s – so adding such a pick is another potential means to get a deal done and seems the most obvious avenue at this stage. Regardless, you’d think this one goes down to the wire.

Verdict: Demons receive Pick 13, future first-round pick and future third-round pick (tied to Kangaroos) – Dockers receive Jackson

Isn’t this a joke, comparing Dunkley and Jackson both out of contract yet in fox footy’s eyes we still have to give picks back to brisbane when Melbourne don’t. It’s pretty easy to know who the better player is at this point in time. S**t I’ll be glad when this is all over, what a frustrating trade period to say the least
Media still has this archaic idea that we are a minnow club only there to prop up the other clubs. And shouldn't unduly ruffle the feathers of the more important clubs. Well BS to that we have a right to ask for fair compensation. Did GWS give anything back and damn sure Melbourne ain't so why the * should we give them a damn thing.
If they gave us 7 and a future 1st more inclined to give back a 2nd not for the half asked deal they are offering up
Rant over !!

Agree. Either Brisbane or Geelong’s future 2nd will be around 33-36 if they are top 4, so combing that with 21 goes some way to getting it back to 15, if that’s the additional pick we are also getting

But Brisbane are also getting two first round draft picks this year, which they need points for, so it's on us to accommodate that.

RORY LOBB TO WESTERN BULLDOGS

Fremantle has publicly refused to entertain the idea of trading Rory Lobb, but he remains every chance of playing at the Western Bulldogs in 2023. Lobb may be contracted for next year at the Dockers, but his future effectively hinges on Luke Jackson coming across by the time the trade period is done. The Dockers and Dees continue to haggle over Jackson’s worth and that’s holding up several deals this trade period, not least of which is Brodie Grundy’s move to Melbourne. Lobb’s future is also contingent on a trade the Dogs do with Brisbane for Josh Dunkley, given one of the picks acquired in that deal could be used to get Lobb. Again, the pick used is dependent on how much of Lobb’s salary is covered by the Dogs in 2023, but the Dogs would be very reluctant to hand over a top-20 pick for a player nearing 30.Verdict: Dockers receive Pick 30 – Bulldogs receive Lobb.

Maybe Dees lost interest
Would not surprise me if it was not even true. Nearly every potential player on the trade block, gets leaked out to the media at some point. If it is true and something is brewing in the background as this years surprise trade. Then I say, all these big deals are holding back all the smaller deals. As many are dependant on picks involved in those big deals. Teams have had weeks to work out something. Clubs need to F around less. Probably why these so called "mega trade periods" always fizz out with the amount of deals reached.

It's looking like we'll accept P21, F1 and some other minor pick...
If that's what Sam decides then so be it.
As long as the protagonists in this rort are remembered and we exact some revenge in the future.

This deal could look like a disaster or it could all look great. Basically it comes down to deathriding a couple of clubs.

I wouldn’t be shocked if a team tries to trade for pick 21 if a slider is there.

We could get a 2nd first rounder that way.

Heard from a good source (Franks hot sauce) Saints are pretty keen.

"Deathride" is such a dramatic term for hoping a team finishes a few places lower than predicted.

Pick 30 & 37 combined should be able to get a pick in the early 20’s. That could be then used to get Lobb.
I don’t think it’s likely this year. Which team would prefer those picks compared to an early 20’s? I can’t see one that has that need?

My views on Dunkley for what it is worth.

I am not gutted even in the slightest that he is leaving. He is a decent player but I don't think he is the sort of player that alters the result of a game. He is not that great at anything but above average at a few things. Looked lost when forward or out on a wing got exposed in the midfield when up against opposition that were explosive or had speed out of the middle. I think Treloar back into the midfield is better for us also having Smith spend more time in there. Play hardball right up to the deadline but in the end just take 21 future first and a 3rd rounder. I just don't think we will miss him in the side that much.

We get a pretty ordinary run in the media. That became exceedingly apparent with the unabashed journalistic bias towards Essendon the last time Dunkley requested a trade. But really, it's nothing particularly to do with the Bulldogs and everything to do with the embarrassingly poor standard of journalism in this country. Boy have we regressed.

We surely can't go into next year with Keath on one leg, a 31 year old Liam Jones and Ryan Gardiner as our key defensive posts.

Khamis isn't suited for 1 on 1 contests. He was towelled up by Joel Amartey earlier in the year.

This will be a bigger disappointment than going into this year with Keath, Cordy and Gardiner.

I honestly think the interest in Lobb is so we can send Naughton down back
Where he would be one of our best key defenders, if something isn’t working down back or Naughton isn’t firing up forward

Thanks for the info as always, but this is a shit deal and Brisbane have cleaned up.

Depending on what the “minor pick” is, if it’s something like a 3rd we may as well chuck it in the bin
