I honestly think the interest in Lobb is so we can send Naughton down back
Where he would be one of our best key defenders, if something isn’t working down back or Naughton isn’t firing up forward

Grant has said Naughton won’t be playing as a defender next year. Lobb should be playing the role we needed Bruce in this year, supporting our potential star duo Naughton and JUH in the forward line. A big body to back up Naughton’s pack marking and JUH’s mobility. Darcy is not ready to be a key pillar in the forward line and there’s no guarantee Bruce finds form again.

I think that’s fair and all but it should always still be considered an option

Thanks for the info as always, but this is a s**t deal and Brisbane have cleaned up.

Depending on what the “minor pick” is, if it’s something like a 3rd we may as well chuck it in the bin

I agree unless the lions have a very poor 2023 season. I cannot see that with Dunkley, Ashcroft and Gunston and reckon they will play off.

His GF efforts have been mentioned, but with Dunkley walking I'd have one of Treloar or Baz in the centre at all times.
He has genuine burst ability, ditto Baz. It changes the way other teams would have to set up as they have to sweep to cover our ability to get a fast clearance. He is a good player and has suddenly become a lot more valuable. Bont/Libba/Macrae/Baz/Treloar suddenly becomes a good mix.

Makes the recruitment of a mid (if best available) perfectly acceptable too given Libba and Treloar's longevity.
Dont disagree with that but mids were not exactly our achilles heal at the time.

if there's minor picks to be added to 21 I'd rather it be from this year than next. They currently have 35 and 36 which is the rough range those future second rounders would be expected to fall anyway.

That would give us for eg. 30,35, 39 which is plenty to have a look at upgrading 21 if we want to and paying for Lobb.

That could put us in a position this year to use a couple of first rounders and get Lobb done pretty easily, which I think would have most of us feeling a lot better about the offseason.

If the Jackson deal starts to move tomorrow like the media are suggesting we should get on the front foot with Lobb, better to be trying to get that out of the way then getting the Brisbane deal done later

It's looking like we'll accept P21, F1 and some other minor pick...
If that's what Sam decides then so be it.
As long as the protagonists in this rort are remembered and we exact some revenge in the future.

If that’s the deal then GWS certainly did well in the Taranto trade.

Yep, likely to be 21-ish, 15-18 & steak knives for a 25yo B&F. If we also send 21 to Freo for Lobb, it could go down as one of our worst trade periods ever, considering it doesn’t look like we have anything else in the pipeline. Add that to the fact that maybe Hunter is going pushed out the door and would leave for absolutely **** all too, I’d be having a hell of a lot of questions to ask

What a s**t house period.

I see some light at the end.
A new senior assistant. Lade comes highly rated.
Lobb comes in as a goal kicker who can play second ruck (been our biggest issue finding a second ruck)
Dunkley goes - we have too many mids, it was bound to happen. I can’t stomach anymore mids playing other positions.
We go into this years draft with pick 11 and two firsts next year, as well as cap space.

We get a pretty ordinary run in the media. That became exceedingly apparent with the unabashed journalistic bias towards Essendon the last time Dunkley requested a trade. But really, it's nothing particularly to do with the Bulldogs and everything to do with the embarrassingly poor standard of journalism in this country. Boy have we regressed.
I think you will find Bevo has caused some of this angst with the media with how he behaves when asked questions at press conferences.

However, listening to Pickering the other day, speaking on behalf of doggies supporters saying we will all be pissed if he goes through to the PSD... made me vomit! I can tell you now, I would rather get nothing and make Brisbane pay $$$$ overs on the PSD or hope that north or someone else picks him up than get dictated on draft picks. I would FULLY support the club to get nothing on this one!! Pickering is shitting himself at the moment!!

TBH I think their ability to defend is an issue at times - we give up a run of 4+ goals to every top 8 team.
Dunkley is arguably our best two-way running midfielder so some adjustment in structure and mindset will be needed for next year. I still think Riley West will get the occasional CBA too as part of our 2nd/3rd rotation.

I suspect we trade into the back end of the first round (or early second round) this year using a future pick or two.
