If we bring in Henry and also another mid with a first rounder it may be worth moving Williams down back again. For the majority of the 2021 season he was sensational and it's probably only confidence holding him back from rediscovering that.

FB: Tomlinson, Jones, Richards
HB: Dale, JOD, JJ
Int: Williams

Gardner, Keath, VDM, Cleary as depth.

That seems pretty decent to me
I tend to agree on Williams. He’s filled a role out of necessity and needed to find a bit of confidence.

We need more versatile defenders that can play on a variety of types and Williams is that. Having Richards and Williams (with 2 additional rebounders and 3 taller types) is a better setup than what we have.

Don't see why Tomlinson is the answer.

Has just turned 30 and has played 36 games in the past four years, not at a particularly high standard (admittedly he started 2021 quite well before doing the knee).

Was against the O'Brien pick up too and this feels the same. Just targeting him because he's there.
I'm looking forward to it just for the meltdowns when he lines up on a wing

Yeah and I think it helps our rebound. He's not incredible by foot, but an upgrade on Duryea. Having Dale, Richards, JJ, and Williams who could reliably move the ball would be a vast improvement

This is the correct decision from Brucey rather than staying on. More than happy for the club to employ him in an off-field capacity (coaching AFLW?) while supporting him during his rehab process.

Yeah seems a good clubman.

He struggled returning from his last knee so he was never going to get back really. Sad way to end it but he had a long career.

Something about the way Bruce turned it around from 2020-2021 endeared him to me in a way not a lot players have done in my time watching the dogs. It wasn’t just as a player, I gained a lot of respect for him as a person.

Pretty shattered it’s ended like this and he never really got the chance to get going again after that first ACL. Seems like a great bloke to have around the club, hope we can keep him around in one way or another.

MacRae should be shipped off.

Has not been a player that I can even describe from the end of 21.

Okay I’ll try: slow, can’t kick, slow hands (great song), and in no way damaging. Kicks backwards and sideways the majority of the time.

Whatever we are paying him let North him.

Club legend, love him, but cooked.

He’s a hard watch right now, I’d like to give him one year under a new coach firstly to see if he can find a role whether midfield or elsewhere. I just really fail to see how he could have dropped off so quickly, I honestly thought he was going to play high level footy until like 33.

I wouldn't mind seeing him trialled at half back .

I would be extra diligent in not moving any players on as hard to assess them over last couple years

I’m not moving on any of our top 15 players if we’re getting a new coach.

Remember that Macrae has been a centre bounce midfielder essentially since 2014. Half of the games this year he probably didn’t even attend a centre bounce. It was a entirely new role.

Whether he can get back to best remains to be seen but I certainly would not be writing him off.

This.

All bets are off with a new senior coach coming in. Especially as internally we thought we had a top 4 list.

Which Victorian club would be into English? I can’t see any that have a need and/or the cash it would require, except maybe North but if he really wants to go there solely for money, good riddance tbh.

None of the others make any sense

Stanley coming to the end, Rat going...

Timmy would go to the Cats for about 300k pa, wouldn't he?

He'd be going for lifestyle, not the money!

Didn't take long!
it's a pretty natural fit other then the cats usually preferring cheaper rucks and spending elsewhere.

Surely they wouldn’t be offering more than us though, unless it’s your standard Geelong under the table deal. Just can’t see them stumping up anywhere near what it would cost for Timmy!
