Hard to see Baz move as he and his manager were pretty clear he would stay.

Dunk’s actually asked to be traded so I was certain he would go once out of contract

Anyway I guess everything can change during trade period

By my calculations, having already re-signed until 2025, Anthony Scott has already played 3 years on the rookie list and must be promoted. Roarke and McNeil must also be promoted or delisted as they have both had their three years. Probably means both more likely to go than stay.

Worst case scenario with Baz is he demands out next year and we get nothing for him. If he wants out he must be traded this off season.

If Smith has a better season next year than he did this year - which wouldn’t be hard - his value could be the same or higher than what you’d trade him for now while contracted.

We gave up three first rounders for an OOC Jeremy Cameron (worth it every day of the week, of course) - the only reason Smith’s value would drop is if he had another poor year which would suggest there are some other, maybe off field, issues going on. IMO of course.

Will say it again, if the noise about Smith and Cats has any legs then I want Max Holmes . He can jump on a wing and has pace to burn. Maybe swap of 1sts with it 10 for 7.

Then have Jacko, Bont , Ads and Libba as main mids. Throw in Weightman now and then, Daniel, West and I’m still thinking Bedendo and Garcia can come good with some luck. We tend to forget about them but both have shown a bit but injuries stagnating growth.

After saying all that, I’m not pushing to get rid of Smith but not retaining either for just 1 year and the distractions associated with it.
Cannot see Cats letting Holmes go, when their list manager himself has said pace in the midfield is their main target in the off-season. Will be shocked if he is allowed to go.

No way Holmes would be on the table. If Baz does want out pray it isn’t Geelong they’ve become very difficult to trade with in recent years, far different from their old ‘just get it done’ approach. Will stiff us just like Brisbane

i would just keep 10 & 17. use 10 on best available and 17 on Croft. if a bid comes before 10 just don't match.
Im still holding out for 1 of O'Sullivan, Murphy or Wilson at 10.
Trade out pick 17 for a 2nd rounder and points to match Croft, pick up Koltyn Tholstrup and Luol with F3 pick.
Best case, we address our 4 biggest needs.
Wilson for the winger who can hit up targets in the fwd line, Croft to CHB, Tholstrup for a hard nut mid, and Luol running defender.

I think if we can get intel that Croft won’t be bid on before our pick 10, it makes sense to keep that pick and risk it for best available. Then trade 17 to North for a future pick. We’ll have back end points for Crofty with the trade for sweet and a few other minor shuffles.

Gives flexibility to trade back in as soon as it’s safe to do so if our targets are around.

Otherwise if it’s a decent deal for GC pick 4 we may swing at that. I’d happily do that deal if it’s pick 10 and F1 for pick 4. Then we could still shuffle 17 into Norths F19. We’re still in a great spot currency wise.

yep 1 of norths future end of 1st round compo picks and 52 for our 17 could work as well. no way trading 10 17 and future 1st

Twomey says we are still in the box seat for pick 4.

Our future 1st is a part of our offer and we will get picks back this year for Croft.
Guessing it would be something like

Suns: Pick 10, 17, F1
Dogs: Pick 4, 43, 57, 61

Joel Hamling has some interest as a UFA/DFA.

Would we?

Watson for essentially pick 10 and a future first (hopefully 15-18).

Any picks we have in the teens this year is going to be eaten up by Croft. If we didnt trade up and a bid came before 10, we’d be fk*.

So, yes please.

Not liking this constant mention of our F1 pick being involved . Not liking it at all. Make it stop. Please
In terms of Power seeing the list

Ideally, giving up our first rounder won't be as impactful

No father-sons next year and the Acadmey players aren't top 15 talent atm

So giving up potentially pick 15-18 (based on list profile) for a top 4 talent

It's a win win for us

Also reduces the salary cap for us next year since first rounders are now 3 year deals
