Any update on Coffield?
Dogs have a 3 year offer
Lions 2 year offer
Saints 1 year extensions

He's still deciding but i would expect by Monday it should be public on what he is doing

My guess would be at Dogs due to longer contract security

Getting Billings and Coffield would be elite tier banter as well with Bont and Naughts but would also be very handy squad players for us

Was that due to injury or being on the outer?

Ended up playing in the GF after missing most of the season.
Injured in the first half of the year.
Would be behind Payne, Andrews and Doedee next year

Not bad Business going for Billing’s and potentially Coffield. Not world beaters but for not much trade value, they’d improve our list and depth.

Gardiner is another. If he is down the pecking order, asking the question with the plan to not pay too much isn’t the worst idea. Would improve our backline and is the exact age bracket we need.

Turning 17 and our 2nd in to all of Gardiner, Coffield, Billings and Croft wouldn’t be a too bad a trade draft period imo. I think it can be done splitting 17 and picking up Billings for nothing.

Plus we bring in a Top 10 youngster.

Just spitballing, but something that could work.

Billings/Coffield/Gardiner will all be 3rd rounders at best assume Gardiner will be a future 3rd Coffield will be for whatever we get for Sweet and then Billings for say 63

If we have to use anything else extra they are not worth it

Not sure about that. Billings and Coffield maybe. Gardiner will demand a 2nd from Bris. Prime aged key defender who would be a walk up starter in our team. Not saying he’s necessarily worth that, but that’s what would be expected.

Throw in the Croft bid I think the trade currency is about right.

Billings 100% will go for nothing they want his contract gone, Coffield is OOC so they have no real bargaining power, Gardiner played 4 games this year and will go further down their list + they have Ashcroft 2.0 coming next year so will like futures

That’s fair. Although Brisbane won’t see Gardiner value like that.

With next years apparent draft strength. Would it be wiser to spend this years and keep all of next?

The Bailey Smith stuff isn't going away

Think dogs might consider offering him a extension during the trade period and see what his future plans are

Billings and Coffield would bring superior skills to positions of need, provided they can stay fit and are willing to work hard defensively (both are pretty big ifs, but tbf not many of the current squad do much defensively either).

If it's not much above the average player wage then no doubt worth the gamble on one of them. Two might be pushing it, unless we are supremely confident that we are pushing up the ladder rather than tumbling down it. I'm not too sure but it's an interesting approach if we end up trading F1 as part of trying to get GC's pick and then sign more recycled players rather than focusing on draft/potential.

How will people on BF cope if we have Gardner & Gardiner ?
So many can’t get their names right now, this will blow their minds.
