So far looking at the list. Keath, JJ, Bedendo, delisted. Clarke to the rookie list. extend Khamis & Garcia. Smith leaves, English either leaves or stays. McNeil & Duryea 1 more year. Rypstra rookie. So just 4 list spots?

He's playing very good footy but it wouldn't shock me if Duryea called it a day at the end of the season, otherwise, that's probably about right - I'd like to keep him on for one more year given the form this season. There's always one you don't expect so whether that's Caleb Daniel or Jack Macrae getting interest elsewhere then that's possible.

Lot of love for Finn Callaghan. Which i get to an extent. But i think we might want to pump the brakes. He is handball happy and loves to bomb the ball without much thought from what ive seen this year. Hes a talent no doubt. Just not sure he's what everyone thinks he is.

Just listened to the Gettable ep and they spent all of 14secs talking about Garcia. Basically Port and WC interested. “Has links back to WA, out of contract and unable to crack the midfield at the dogs, I’d expect him to be on the move”.

Good chance he goes but doesn’t sound like it’s is a foregone conclusion at this stage. Still time for Riley to get a look in over the next 4 weeks + finals. He’s the perfect age profile and, IMO, will only continue to develop so let’s hope he’s given the opportunity and grasps it.
I’m confused.
Too many Rileys and too many Beveridges.

Too many beverages too, but that’s a separate issue.

I'd rather up our offer to Baz than chase another club's mid in the same age range

Is he leaving just because we haven't offered enough? If so, how much more would we need to offer?

... or haven't I cottoned on to how difficult it is to answer that question?

No need to get shirty, when I'm abs-olutely understanding why you might think he'd be interested in a third party

I get what you mean, but seeing JJ as delisted is wrong. He will more than likely retire with grace as a premiership Bullgod…although I wouldn’t mind it if he made it back fit & in time for finals this year and become a BullgodBullgod

JJ also needs only four games to reach the exclusive 200 club. Deserves the accolade and a tribute to a player who came up through the rookie list.

Unless I've missed something, Weitering is a free agent end of next year. Same as Ballard at gold coast.
Happy to roll with what we've got next year then try to shake one of them loose.
That would be exactly my play, I'd be all in on Ballard as a free agent. Leek Aleer also out of contract if we can't nab a free agent. More then happy to have Jones anchor the backline next year (I can't see why we couldn't manage him through 2026 aswell for 10-15 games). Give Lobb a full pre - season learning the craft and then let Buku, JOD and Buss fight it out for the last spot with Coffield playing smaller.

Riley Beveridge on Gettable said Garcia is pretty much gone. Cal Twomey then said Geelong a chance for Macrae and Caleb will probably go towards the end of trade period.

English still favourite to stay but wet toast offer is tempting. Smith gone Geelong still favourite but Hawthorn with their "we want everyone " is still around
Don't rule out Collingwood with Smith.

This.

Barrass is good, but the cost & risk vs the reward just doesn't make sense for me.
I’m also concerned about the opportunity cost. Barrass is a gun no doubt, but he just adds to the logjam in front of Buss, who I want to see given an opportunity to develop at AFL level. Who knows what output he might be capable of in another 12 months?

There are too many red flags that could handicap up for ~5ish years to bring in a guy who doesn’t fill an urgent position of need:
  • length of contract with potential back issue and age
  • high trade asset required
  • high salary required
  • continues trend of investing 1st rounders on KPP
  • opportunity cost of playing in front of kids

Geelong seem to be targeting a lot of our players recently, can someone give them directions to the draft, about time they developed their own players instead of picking off other clubs good work.

Update: no mention of Garcia going to the Cats, only interest is from Port and West Coadt.

I can tell you all right now that we have asked the question to Zak Butters agent. There could be something on the cards. Not sure how it could get done but would be the biggest fish we have ever got in the trade period. If he did want to return to Victoria, we would be his number 1 choice. Was a mad Bulldogs Supportor. Go all in on Zak! 2 first rounders

He'd be a handy replacement for Baz through the midfield. Really don't think it'll happen though.

Well I saw this on the Port Adelaide board on the 18th of July

Butters goneski? Same deal as Chad of the Wingard variety?

Or so I was told this morning.
