Smith is best 22 when fit and there's a case for Macrae, Daniel and Garcia to all be in it too next year. I don't have a huge issue with losing each of them individually but to have all 5 go at the same time would be a hit, unless we can bring in similar quality in return.
If both Macrae and Daniel are happy to fight for their position in the team then I wouldn’t trade them

Riley Beveridge on Gettable said Garcia is pretty much gone. Cal Twomey then said Geelong a chance for Macrae and Caleb will probably go towards the end of trade period.

English still favourite to stay but wet toast offer is tempting. Smith gone Geelong still favourite but Hawthorn with their "we want everyone " is still around
Interesting, goes against most of what I have heard.

FFS. We needed to do everything in our power to keep Garcia!!

Just listened to the segment, Beveridge didn't come across at all convincing, just said "linked to Port and West Coast, ties to Perth and can't break into the midfield so would expect him to leave". He is in the team now though, so what happens if he plays the rest of the year and hopefully into finals?

I think that losing Garcia is the one that will really come back to bite us. He's a decent player and will only get better considering he's come from a long way back (acl in his draft year). He's tough too, and provides excellent midfield depth. Considering what we'd get for him, his departure would be immensely disappointing.

I just listened to it too out of curiosity, came across a speculation rather then a leak or any inside word.

If Garcia is leaving us because he can’t break into the midfield then why would he Join Port Adelaide

Somebody much smarter than me, should run a season long spreadsheet on the hit miss ratio based on the speculation of the likes Getable and all the other content creator first, trade experts second out there.

These guys get to say things without anybody actually keeping score. A player they've speculated about all season re-signs. No problem. On to the next one.

Generally, wouldn't be shocked at most stories being from agents to boost value of their clients

Did they not have Busslinger "definitely gone" just before he re-signed?

Sure thats a viable scenario. However it also gives them more credit than they probably deserve.

Content like Gettable can easily be churned out by just looking at a list of a team that is in pretty good shape and look at who's either not getting a game or is yet to re-sign.

It's not really displaying a great insight or even an ability to work the phones to player management or clubs to link the names of players who are on the fringes of a side or un-contracted, with a possible move. Especially when the names involved are Macrae, Daniel, Smith and English.

Like AI. With a minimum of human input, the content literally creates itself .

Must keep Sonny. The kid has mongrel and is going to get better.

Don’t mind losing Baz. Is what it is.

Macrae and Daniel is clearly upsetting as there’s a strong emotional tie there but our midfield is too strong for Macrae and Daniel just seems bereft of any confidence.

It's what they do. If a player is unsigned. He's out the door.

Until he isn't.

Their lack of accountability is why I'm so skeptical about anything they say.

It's a consequence of having a team stacked with enviable talent. I'd prefer having a team full of desirable players that other teams are trying to poach than the inverse. The vast majority of the time, they end up re-signing.
This is pretty much it. Sydney dealt with it with Logan McDonald & the Warner rumours.

At the end of the day, the club has lost one top 10 player (Dunkley) that it wanted to keep in the last 10 years. Every other departure has either been a lower ranked fringe player or a forced exit (Stringer, Hunter etc.).

To be fair, Twomey said on the 3rd of July that he was "most likely to stay". But also to be fair, he was guessing.
Thats the thing. This board knew that he had re-signed in the week or so before it became public.

Just like Cal.

These useful idiots are fed information by clubs and player management. Anybody who thinks they have a network of spies inside clubs, are out there working the phones or eavesdropping on contract negotiations happening at the back of a cafe. Is kidding themselves.

Trading a first rounder for a 29 year old isn’t ideal but we’re a much better team with him in it than not. Guess it depends how well we go this next month.

Jones and Lobb aren’t young.
