We got more than 17 for Smith. We had a shit hand and used the threat of the draft as part of the leverage we tried to create. The draft threat was unlikely to be implemented, but the alternative was to say nothing and accept 17 from Geelong.Anybody still believe that PSD or ND actually holds any leverage during trade negotiations?
Mate, Collingwood were average this year. They recruited a gun HB Flanker, which is not a position of need for them. Look at their forward line. They have solid small representation, but no key forwards apart from Mihocek. They have no draft capital this year or next year and need to make a play for someone like Darcy or JUH.Not really a melt, just a simple observation.
We should be aiming for top 4/flag. Collingwood & Hawks have both been aggressive to get back to that point, we were absolutely nowhere near being in that conversation along with them.
Just not really a fan to be going into next year which is mostly hopeful for internal development to push us to the next level, also being reliant on luck with injuries - especially in defence.
3 senior players down, Kennedy in.17, 25, 35, 48 is a solid draft hand for this draft while having all of our future picks also and a ton of cap space. Not the worst position to be in.
It was through that leverage that we upgraded 45 to 38.Anybody still believe that PSD or ND actually holds any leverage during trade negotiations?

Then overpaid by sending it to Carltank for KennedyIt was through that leverage that we upgraded 45 to 38.
Basically nothing but still something.
It's 100% a melt because your comparing us to teams like Collingwood and Hawthorn who have always been able to recruit big names. I'm not sure if you've followed bulldogs that long but the likes of Houston, Barass, Perryman would be some of the biggest recruits in the clubs history. Not really a melt, just a simple observation.

I don't want this to end.
What could we get for JUH and Sanders next trade period?

Haha saying "we may as well fold the club" is absolutely a melt, come on...
A bit of wiggle room there.Pick 35 and Charlie Dixon?

I would actually say it was through the very small chance that he doesn't get to Geelong through the ND that we got that minor upgrade. It was through the very large and real threat of him getting Geelong anyway through the ND that we more generally got ****ed in the trade. The PSD / ND draft threat is very real, it just very sensibly gets priced into the deals. It was through that leverage that we upgraded 45 to 38.
