I think we are short 2 players:

- A line breaking mid. A Bailey Sniff type…

- A genuine dynamic small forward. I don’t think we have one genuine small forward on the list. I see them all more as gut running high half forwards.

I don’t think a line breaking mid can be addressed outside the top end of the draft or trade. Unless Taryn Thomas got himself extremely fit and a club was prepared to brush away the image/legal issues (I don’t think he’d of ever faced any sanctions if he was playing in the NFL - not saying that is right).

However with the small forward role I’d be getting 3 or 4 to have a crack at a list spot as a train on player. I’d be looking broader than just state level. I think there could be some gems at local level.

I see on Jaques highlights the speed, run & carry & good disposal, but can anyone comment on his actual defensive skills?
Small defender is real need with Doc another year older.

I think Gallagher could be that small lockdown defender

Looks tall.. some of his highlights are of him rucking at vfl level…

He comes across as a really athletic third tall..?

190cm, so basically a 3rd tall height that is 4th tall in our side lol

I expect him to play a HFF role linking up the ground, his speed and marking power will be crucial as we haven’t had that type of player in years

I know the point of your post was not to get Thomas to the club but if we could brush away the image/legal issues then the only issue we would have is ever attracting an WAFL/WVFL player to the club. Ever.

I think we know Davidson can comfortably play 3rd tall / running high hff role and this will likely be his job, at least initially. But I will be pretty excited if I see him line up on the wing early on as it means he would have impressed in that spot over pre season and his traits (running power, marking, goal kicking etc) could give us a real advantage and point of difference on the wing that we haven't really had. Imagining a mix of Truck and Baker.

He's going the be the best sub the competition has seen since Daniel Giansiracusa

Thanks for that, shame though. He's shown real persistence, it'd be good if the system would give him more of a chance to get a spot.
Imagine there was a rookie list where you could put players who have never played senior level to give them a chance.

The AFL should look into this idea…….

Does Davidson replace VDM? Is he that kind of player?
He could play VDM role and still be an actual threatening forward on top of that. Good endurance but reasonably quick as well. He likely plays as a HHF or might start him on the opposite wing to 🚚 .

Will be interesting to see how he goes over the preseason

Maybe he can become a Mitch Hahn type player. If he can add a bit of size and really bullock his way around and be that link player.

What sort of player is Brew? I just don’t see the need to have a 27 year old VFL midfielder taking up a list spot.

What would he bring that Kennedy & Harmes couldn’t provide as midfield depth?

From what I’ve seen he’s a hard nosed in and under type. Bit of a strange one for me, I’d rather take a swing on a younger player.

He has Incredible passion for the game, so while this is a strange choice list wise. I can’t be mad at it.
I am sure Bevo is under the impression that if this works out he’ll be applauded as a true visionary

It’s just a training session for now.

Intriguing move, how does his VFL form compare with McComb's (prior to joining us)?

McComb's VFL year before being drafted: "A proven ball-winner, averaging 25.5 disposals, 4.6 marks and 4.7 tackles to claim Footscray’s best and fairest and a spot in the VFL Team of the Year." No stats on clearances or contested possessions, which are Brew's bread and butter.
