I don't have any problem with trialling Brew. He's just won the Liston Trophy, averages 29 Disposals and a huge 10 Tackles per game. Granted, he'll be 28 before the next season starts but 2 other Werribee players have just been drafted which speaks to the quality of their list.
It is just a trial and we've missed out on a few local players in recent times. Deserves a shot IMO.
10 tackles a game 🤩🤩 I don't care how old he is.
Your can never have too many players on your list with that effort.

Love Brew’s story but I really hope we give the last spot to Boyd. He’s a little short for an AFL ruckman but he plays in a Ben Hudson/Brodie Grundy style that Bev might actually use if needed. Averaged 20 disposals, 40 hit outs and 10 clearances in the SANFL this year. Would be great to have him showing the ropes to Lachie Smith at VFL level, as his playing style is very similar to Smith’s. He can pinch hit at either end too, so we could still give Smith plenty of ruck minutes.
If Boyd plays anything like Hudson/Grundy sign me up.
We need some mongrel in the ruck, someone to push Timmy.

No issues with Brew as a train on player and potential rookie pick on one condition we don’t try to turn him into a small forward/wing HFF type.

If we pick him up he plays mid either in the VFL or AFL none of this mids as small forwards crap we’ve seen over and over again

Absolutely spot on.

James Podsiadly was rookied by Geelong at 29, didn’t do too badly.

I quite like the idea of him as a small forward.

If we’re looking for someone to try their guts out, do their job and crumb and tackle I’m not sure there’d be anyone on the list better.

Honestly having him be de-facto captain of Footscray would work, have him working closely with Sanders and the new lads to set the standard for them.

I suspect this is the intent - and if he bashes to door down, he might get a chance at the top level. It’s worth a shot.

Genuinely hope he smashes the door down and makes it impossible not to pick him.

No doubt he'll see this as his last real chance and will fight and scrap to the very end to make it.

10 tackles a game, love that statistic.
Give Bews a tagging role in the mold of the Bullgod Picken, Picken extracted every bit of talent he had just on pure guts and determination.
So bummed Pickens concussion retired him too soon.

Just as he had evolved into a damaging forward too. Probably kicks 40 goals a year over 2017/18 without the injuries.

What Brown said on trade radio about Brew

Jesus! that is a massive wrap from Campbell Brown.
Says Brew is a competitive beast unlike anyone he has ever seen including players like Hodge and Mitchell!
