Jamarra just needs to significantly lift his competitiveness and further improve his tank. Having him be able to chop Naughton out of playing the high half forward role at times would be invaluable. We should be aiming for 150 goals out of that trio next year

With the refresh in the midfield

Ball movement inside 50 should be a lot more easier for our forwards

The problem with this approach is that the only way you can 'cash in' when a very good or above player leaves your club is if it occurs under free agency and you recieve compensation.

If the Bailey Smith situation has reinforced anything its that the current system of out of contract player movement, outside of free agency, is dictated almost entirely by the player and the club is just a passenger in the process.

You simply can't get fair compensation, let alone cash in, when a very good or above out of contract player leaves your club.
Yep if he nominated Brisbane it would be a disaster for us.

Because no one ever gets injured? So we happen to have a few quality KPF so we should sell one off to make another club stronger with a player showing star potential and as a KPF is still only 22

We paid the Pick 1 price for and it's not like we can convert that into trading in a gun young mid plus extra. So we would be trading for the unknown magic beans of the draft.

So I guess the real question is do we just want to be seen as a finishing school for talent before they move onto bigger and better clubs. Or a club that figures out a way to make it work. I know which way is going to be better for us down the track
It’s bizarre that people want to trade a potential generational talent we were handed, especially as we’re not a club who is going to attract superstar FAs.
Plenty of room for Marra and especially as Darcy plays more and more ruck in the future.

Reading between the lines it’s the off field stuff that is the major concern. Tank will come.

Heard some stuff about Jamarra's behaviour pre the Hawks final which was slightly concerning. That being said, we'd want to be well and truly looked after if there was a trade/FA scenario

Starting him on the pine was also an error by Bevo and his team. Yes its a team game but have him out there from the get go.

Good points.

Now in hindsight, do you think he is a number 1 pick talent (ignoring the circumstances we got him through NGA etc)

Absolutely. On performance he’s already on the cusp of elite and not far off being in the best handful in the comp, which is where his talent is at.

People just love putting jamarra down coming from our own fans is a bit shit
I’m not sure any of the comments are really putting him down. It’s more commentary about behaviour that could be an issue and a general hope that he will be ok and a solid team player moving forward. Stringer isn’t at his 3rd club without reason.

We all love Jamarra and want what’s best for him and the club.

People don’t want the club to lose another gun player but they also want every player to get the best out of themselves.

I love your passion for Jamarra but it’s natural for people to have different points of view depending on their own personal experiences. Just try and be a little less defensive.

A lot of concerns about the development of a lightly framed kpf who will still be 22 at the start of next year, who has kicked 7, 18, 35 then 43 goals in his 4 seasons.

When you consider his development was impacted by COVID and less footy than usual in his later teenage years, that progress reads pretty damn well.

My concern about JUH is nothing to do with ability. Behind The Bont he has the second most ability on the list it is all about attitude and work rate. Sometimes he looks disinterested. If he got that right he could be better than Sam. Do not think we will ever see a 100% in this area but even a 10 to 15% would see a huge improvement and consistency of performance.

I think if all three tall forwards can get to the level where they can play deep forward, inside the 50 metre arch and the high forward, and rotate through those positions throughout games, it's going to create nightmares for opposition defenders.

Agree that Jamara is the furtherest of the three off being able to consistently do this at the moment and 2025 is a pivotel season for him.

Yep exactly. I think Jamarra, Naughton, Darcy, West and Weightman could just about be locked in as our best forward line for the medium term but all of them haven't hit their peak yet. They really just need to be paired with some higher quality pressure forwards. It's an issue as our midfield will drop off as they do.
