still reckon our number one target this off season should be a number 1 developed ruck, let English explore his options.
Why do you think that is even an option? We literally just resigned him when we could have let him explore his options.

Tim is settled in Melbourne and signed the contact for a reason.

Next trade period could be huge in the number highly rated players seeking a trade. Rimours are

Harley Reid Bombers
Patracca Pies
Rowell Geelong
Warner Freo
Butters Melbourne based club
Jamarra Who knows maybe Sydney

Don't forget the future trading picks has changed now

So a lot of clubs will chase stars from bottom 6 teams before Tassie come in

If the JUH stuff is true then trading him is best. But some of it feels like the gun thing which was made up. A trade to Sydney would be a double edge sword for him. He gets out of the media spotlight but he also will be close to Bondi which is not good for players that like to party. Maybe GWS will throw their hat into the ring. XOH & Aleer for JUH.

You’d imagine Reid wouldn’t be traded two years in and they’ll back themselves in to try and keep him.
But How good would it be having Harley pump it into Darcy for the next 10 years. We might be in the frame if JUH is traded and if Sanders heads to Tassie, we may have more capital to play with than others. Would certainly make the most of a bad situation, if those two were to leave.

We should actually be the club that’s going hell for leather on Reid.
You sure we should be going all out? I mean his on field application currently screams unprofessional to me, and a player already with his head elsewhere. Worried it's a danger/poor cultural fit to me. Plus he will likely cost us 3 first rounders, he will demand to be the highest paid player, and may not end up being in the top 5 from his draft year. Had a couple of decent games last season, but nothing the screams super star so far. Really needs to break out this year for me to be confident.

Though I would love a big bodied, fend off type MID. As I think you need three types of mids. An inside extractor (Sanders), a quick pacy type that can weave in and out of traffic, with good ball use (Richards), and a big bodied type that crashes through you like Petracca.

Sadly we will get f all for JUH, so will be left bare using our three first round picks from the next few drafts, just chasing Reid.

I dont think anyone was outright suggesting we should target Grundy, more so pointing out that he had already signed a contract but was traded anyway, so similar could happen with English.
yes I brought him up as a clear example that re-signing a long term contract means **** all and there will be options for him

The club wants English and players also can't be traded without their consent. Just small hurdles.
Drop him for a few weeks if he continues in the same vein. If he is not playing regularly see how long he is happy to be playing VFL.

unless I missed something didn't we have 2 AA's traded under contract last trad?

Yes but we had cover there.

The club has bent over backwards to make sure English has always been happy and has played him when they shouldn't have. That's not going to change now, unless you want to move Lobb to the ruck.

They won't play Smith, especially one out.

He's one who is certainly going to be on the list next year. We all know it, whether we want him to be or not.

Smith is now not that far behind the output we are getting from English
