Trade Deal - Hawthorn, Port and Essendon

It took a while for a reasonable Hawthorn post in this thread.

As for the others, it would not be a problem for me if the club took a stance and let Shaun go into the ND if Hawthorn try to screw us over - we lose but stick to our principles and Hawthorn also lose a missing premiership link - the ball is entirely in their court.

Anyone who claims that its alright for a club to let a player go to the draft for nothing automatically loses their right to determine 'reasonableness' in other posters.

Whats all this crap about Mark Williams?

How many players go and kick over 50 goals in a season?

They said after the 2007 season he won't be the same his knees are gone etc etc and then he comes out in 2008 and kicks over 50 goals and kicks 3 in the grandfinal.

He is hard to match up on. His Quick, has great hands for his size and let's not forget his kick, 1st class.

I am not saying he is better than Burgs but def in the same league if not better than Lovett without the off field crap. (Couple of things on field might be classed as dodgy but thats about the worst his done)

I know that there are many 'spam' like rumours that circulate around trade time, I hope this one is not spam and is in fact correct.

I am told that a preliminary deal has been reached on the following trades:

Shaun Burgoyne - Hawthorn
Andrew Lovett - Port Adelaide
Mark Williams (Haw) - Essendon

We will see how this eventuates over the coming week or so.

How Essendon benefits receiving the weakest of the three listed players is beyond me. I would assume picks would have to be swapped as well.

Lovett is more versatile, can play as a top class outside midfielder or as a half forward flanker where he has kicked bags of 5.

ADD hawks 2nd rd and 4th rd piks to go to bombers...
Bombers pass a 2nd rd pik to port''......:thumbsu:

I would expect the same "reasonableness" from Hawthorn, or no Burgoyne - simple really.

Just to really confuse things why not throw a fourth team in the mix.

Essendon Trades Lovett + 3rd round Pick to Brisbane For Rischitelli + 2nd Round Pick.

Essendon Trades Bris 2nd Round Pick + 4th Round Pick to Hawthorn for Williams.

Hawthorn Trades 1st round pick + Bris 2nd Round pick to Port for Burgoyne.

OK enough of the bullshit and sarcastic comments it really is becoming quite childish. Firstly I for one really want Burgoyne, our midfield is full of in and under types and adding Burgoyne will help turn it into elite. Now for the trade deal pick 9 is a given, as for players I'd be happy with any of the following, Williams, McGlynn, Kennedy, Ladson, Thorpe, Dowler and even Lewis. I want his guy we need this guy and he's going to cost us, I for one don't mind paying the cost.

I would projectile vomit all over the place if we offered anywhere near Pick + Lewis. I wouldn't even want a straight swap of Lewis > Burgoyne.

I for one won't be all that fussed if we miss out on him. 27yo, knee issues, supremely talented yes, but IMO he hasn't really produced the form that his talent suggests for any extended periods of time. He'd be great, but we have other more pressing needs IMO...Pick 9 or nothing would be my offer.

Hawthorn Trades 1st round pick + Bris 2nd Round pick to Port for Burgoyne.

I don't know how Brisbane would feel about that, as I am not familiar with how well they rate Lovett and Rischitelli. But, from a Hawthorn perspective that's probably thereabouts. Port has suggested that they want a player from us for Burgoyne, which might see us keeping the pick instead; but it seems to work alright.

Mark williams is still a major player at the mighty hawks, with cyril more midfield bound in 2010. His dead eye dick goalkicking is a must in the side.

Port Adelaide need to understand that Burgoyne doesnt want to play for them, so they either settle for what the hawks give them, or they can get nothing in return. So... You port fans complain you have no inside players, no real tough gritty players to win you the ball, well we have plenty of them. Take your pick - Kennedy(22)/ Tuck / Mcglynn. Now you might say they arent worth burgoyne, but you have no cards to play with. so shut it.

Hawthorn, give them pick 9 and kennedy. Cos we dont need either of them. Kennedy is the better of the 3, and is young. I think this is a win win for both teams, given the situation both clubs find themselves in.

If port dont take the deal, They lose even harder. Very very stupid if they take that option, but we are dealing with South Australians here, so who knows.

Spot on.. Keep the deal between hawthorn and port adelaide. Port have stated they want an inside mid and early picks. Why complicate the deal even more by involving a third party offering nothing more than a fast runner.

Burgoyne >>> Lovett >>> Williams

Hawthorn the big winners (usually a giveaway when Hawthorn posters call a deal "fair")

Port lose (Lovett not as good as Burgoyne)

Dons lose (Williams not as good - certainly not as fit - as Lovett)

This might work if Hawthorn throw in their second rounder / Kennedy for Essendon and McGlynn to PA.

So we lose Kennedy, McGlynn and Williams for Burgoyne? :eek:Yawn, get a clue.
