Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

******* lol if you want to lose some braincells go check out the WCE trade thread - the sooking about priority picks and expecting 2,3 AND something else for pick 1 is ******* funny. Do these clowns not realise they won a premiership a few years ago?

Also talks about Curtin sliding

Take 2 and 3

Convert 3 into 6 and 15

Combine 36 and 44 into 25 from Sydney

Go to draft with 2,6,15,22,25

Win
If that's all on the money my favourite take is that we're finally playing hard ball and telling them how it's going to be.
So many over east expect us to roll over and do as they say.
Uk'm!

It's unlikely but there's nothing to suggest it's not possible?

It's more of a hypothetical to show the absurdity of dishing out picks based on salary + ladder position. It almost incentivises tanking further.
I'd love us to become a team that manipulates the system to our advantage and stick it to the AFL in that way. We've done a good job in taking the high ground and not asking for handouts, but we should go scorched earth on the FA system next year if we finish bottom again.

I'm talking about offering to pay 400k/yr salaries for another club to pick up the Tom Coles & Josh Rothams on 750k/yr FA contracts. Walk away with picks 1,2,3. Then spit in the AFL's face when they offer us PP's at the ends of R1 and offer F1's etc. by publicly saying "No, we don't want your handouts like some other tin rattlers.".

It may be. But is there a better one apart from “no compo”.

Bottom clubs need a way to rebuild and losing top 4 players would set rebuild back 3-5 years without compo.

Better way is to allow teams to have a salary cap floor of say 70%, and to carry 15% of that forward (I.e. after banking, let’s say for 2 years a team can pay 115% of the cap - currently that is 105%).

Also allow teams to trade following year and the year after (2025 season in current terms) cap space. Put a limit that a team can only ‘buy’ cap space once per season (I.e. can’t sell a 1st and F1st to 2 different clubs to get 2024 cap space of each of them, can only do 1, but the other could be for 2025).

Will stop middling players getting paid overs, and will allow teams to truly build a war chest when they are down - and will likely stop top teams hoovering up all of the FA’s.

Exhibit A on why North should cease to exist.

Their draft/trade thread entered a second thread on Thursday last week. Despite having more picks and opportunities than any other club, including the addtion of pick 3, which should see plently of chat, they've adde 21 pages since then.

Conversley, we have added 65 pages in the same time.

If they have no fans, why do we bother with keeping them alive and gifting them picks?
Why would they need to talk more about us taking curtain at pick 1?

Lochie O'Brien, anyone? Hard-running left-footed winger? We'll need to be replacing one of those soon...

I am interested to see who this board thinks will be available with our second, third and fourth picks if we hold our current draft hand.

This whole time I have been on the 'Draft Reid' bandwagon, however I do know we need to hit on at least 3 of the 4 picks we take this draft.

The more our picks slide down the draft board, the more uncertain I am as players between 25 - 50 can be very hit an miss.

This has me thinking, if we can somehow get 2, a pick high enough to get Curtin + another in the top 20, I think we could be better off.

For any other club 2+3 for 1 is an insane offer that would never be offered.

But North with their string of failed acquisitions knows that if we pick Reid, even if he eventually goes back to Victoria, they will never get him. So if they want this marquee player they're going to have to draft him.

I'm glad we've set the asking price there, because they might just pay it and if they don't we've got Reid.

Why didn't we promote ROB the mad Kent earlier?

It also basically tells Hawthorn & Melbourne to **** off.
