I've tried thinking about some trades

Rick Ladson: Will go to GWS cheaply for a draft pick

Brent Renouf: I believe he will get to Port Adelaide.
Maybe there might be a third party involved or even a big four way deal., I'm wondering if what Adelaide might want maybe a backman: Luke McGuane, Matthew Warnock, Paul Bower.

Carlton: Pick 22 to Port Adelaide & Paul Bower to Adelaide
Port Adelaide: Pick 35 to Hawthorn & Steven Salopek to Adelaide
Adelaide: Jack Gunston to Hawthorn & Pick 35 to Carlton
Hawthorn: Brent Renouf to Port Adelaide & Pick 24 to Carlton

Jordan Lisle: Don't know hopefully he doesn't go anywhere!
Xavier Ellis: Will resign and stay.
Clinton Young: Probably the same as Ellis.
Jarryd Morton: I think he still has a bright career to come but not at Hawthorn.

Can you reduce numbers via trading (trading out players and draft picks) and then not have to delist anyone ?

Also if you end up with special pick 2 (crouch ?) does thqat take a space on the list even though hes not listed till next year ?

Im thinking offer the mentioned players, picks for gunston, special pick2 and another if lucky

Hey i was just wondering if hawthorn decide to pass on a pick in the rookie draft. Can we use that pick in march to pick up a player like we did with Paul Johnson. Or has that rule changed?

I may be talking through my backside, but I believe that each club MUST use at least three picks in the ND.

However, with expansion teams in the last two years, rookie promotions have also been allowed to count towards the three.

As I said, I stand to be corrected on this...

If I am reading this right;

Adelaide: lose Gunston and pick 10 for Crouch, 16 & 24
Hawks: Lose Ladson and 24 for Gunston and 38
Freo: Lose 16 & 38 for Clark
GWS: Lose Crouch for O'Meara and Laddo
Lions: Lose Clark for 10

As far as I can tell, that is relatively fair for all with Adelaide ahead and Freo slightly aggreived I would think. We are happy to part with 24 for Gunston and pick 38 for Laddo is a win IMO.

I am pretty sure GWS know exactly what they can and cannot do with the MD selections. I doubt things would have gotten this far if they didn't. I doubt the AFL will get very far now saying the MD selections cannot be traded back.

Unless there is some very concise fine print somewhere expressly forbidding it.

I reckon it's all fair as long as we benefit from it. Otherwise, it stinks and should be prevented.
