This thread could be used for trade rumours for the RFC as well as other teams if people are interested. Post season, maybe the mods could make a new thread as this will be more speculation or if people have heard anything.

It's also a great thread for Tiger71 to provide updates (that he can without spilling the beans).

This club is nailing every part of football at the moment. On a whole other level to all other clubs. The players get treated like people here unlike livestock the other clubs are banging on about.
Unlike the crows. No wonder they all wanna leave.Keith has a stress fracture and tried to hide it and make it the Doggies problem(cost).

Leppitsch is staying I hope.
A genius coach who helped to devise the strategy for Edwards to play part of the time in defence, earlier in the year.
Who is the second assistant, apart from Blake, who you are referring to as departing?
Kingsley interviewing so potentially leaving. Dimmas massive wraps for him . Carracella hurts.

Yeah but much like the playing list. One goes out another steps up. The culture is that strong at the moment im sure we will be able to bring in new guys with new ideas and make it work

Pretty sure anderson was interviewed and was asked about this and he said his dad never pressured him and was always a tiger
Can confirm.Heard that interview.100% a Tiger.

I hope they can stagger the retirements so that they don't happen simultaneously.
It would be hard to lose two high quality players through retirement in the one year.
Houli could retire at the end of next year, Shane the following year, Jack in 2022, Alex the next year, something like that.
2020-Houli & Rance
2021-Jack/Cotch & Astbury
2023-Sheds
2025-Dusty

2020-Houli and maybe Rance!
2021-Cotch
2022-Astbury
2023-JR8 and maybe Sheds
2024-Dusty
Disagree - Cotchin will win his second Brownlow off half back at age 32. Surely it's time to start the succession discussion next season though eh...

Rancey rested the whole year which means he'll last an extra 2-3 seasons, right?

Sheds has plenty of footy left in him

Was reading about the Saints wanting pick 13 from the Dogs for Bruce and the Dogs suggesting 32 was more reasonable. So was thinking if it's worth us jumping in with Butler and our first 2 picks to broker a 3 way trade.

Richmond
Out: Butler pick 19 & 38
In: Pick 13 & 32

Saints
Out: Bruce
In: Butler pick 32 & 38

Dogs
Out: Pick 13 & 32
In: Bruce pick 19

Based on the points value this rates Butler at pick 35 and Bruce at pick 22. Which I think is pretty reasonable value for those 2 players given their current standings.

Saints can then use 32 or 38 for Zak Jones, while Dogs can use 19 for Alex Keath.

Wrong thread for it but isnt Rance contracted till 2022? Hes still good for 2-3 years id say. Dusty's body allows him to play beyond his current contract too.

Unless injury strikes then reckon your killing off most of these guys too soon.

Wait... where is this coming from?

Adelaide were compelled to operate on defender Alex Keath to repair a stress fracture in his leg in order for his trade to the Western Bulldogs to go through.
Keath will start his Bulldogs career on the injury list, after medical examinations by two different clubs revealed an injury which they believed required surgery.

Adelaide were aware of the injury but believed it didn’t require surgical intervention and instead were planning to manage it differently if Keath stayed at the Crows.
Keath has since had recent surgery and will be unable to train for at least three months.

Despite both the Bulldogs and St Kilda finding a crack in his lower shin, Keath, who was just about to take off on an overseas holiday, had been given a training program by Adelaide that included running.
That holiday has now been cancelled and Keath won’t be able to begin pre-season training until late January at the earliest.
Adelaide were aware of the issue during the season, where a scan prior to the round 18 clash with Essendon identified a stress fracture.
He played one more game for Adelaide, ironically against the Western Bulldogs in round 23. He failed to play that game out after limping off with an unrelated knee injury.

Carlton list chief Silvagni says the club is no longer interested in out-of-contract Richmond forward Dan Butler.

He was then scanned again after the season and the Crows began a conservative approach to rehabilitating the injury after his shin showed signs of improvement.
But both St Kilda and the Bulldogs have confirmed to The Age that their medical teams believed Keath required immediate surgery.
Once the Bulldogs identified the fracture last month, they advised Keath that he would need to have a pin put in his lower leg to justify their contract offer to him.
Keath and his management then returned to Adelaide, where they advised the Crows who, against their own judgment, decided to go ahead with the surgery.
Keath is a contracted Adelaide player until the end of October, meaning all costs associated with his surgery and subsequent treatment will be paid for by his current club.

The revelation has diluted his trade value in the eyes of the Bulldogs, who will now try to attain his services in exchange for something in the realm a third round pick.
Keath’s injury was being managed by well renowned fitness guru Steve Saunders, who joined the Crows high performance team on a full time basis this year, having previously operated as a consultant.

Saunders has worked at Cricket Australia, Athletics Australia and at North Melbourne, where then coach Brad Scott once referred to him as one of the most important figures at the football club.
Adelaide had initially attempted to acquire the Bulldogs first pick – currently 13 – by giving them Keath and one of their second round picks (currently 23 and 28).

That was rejected by the Dogs.
The Crows had hoped to leverage the Bulldogs’ desire to sign Saints forward Josh Bruce, hence offering them Keath and a second round pick, which the Dogs could give to the Saints for Bruce.
But sources at the Bulldogs told The Age that their prized first pick was not for sale at any price, adamant it will be turned into a Dogs player in the national draft.

Yep let them all play till 2030 win another 8 flags and they can all retire together

Maybe! I'm just being cautious...
I didn't realize Rance is contracted till 2022, that's good for the Club then! but at the back of my mind is all that previous talk about Rance finding life outside of footy and maybe him retiring after next year! But if he stays, that's great!
Cotch I'm being conservative with and worry about his hammies holding out...if they do that's great!
Astbury I'm thinking without injury could play longer but I'm thinking he's going to get slower and be harder to hide in the backline!
JR8 can do what ever he wants in my book! Same as Sheds! Both barring injuries...
Dusty if he can have the same impact in 2025 that's great too, but it's a long haul there...

The first decent proposal I've seen in a long time.

Although I don't think Swans would accept 32 for Zak Jones... but overall, I like your thinking.

GWS only receives pick 40 for Tomlinson, which is fair enough.
AFL tries to equalise the draft, calculating on the relative strengths of the teams.
If Melbourne was a better team, GWS would receive a higher pick.
