Just a heads up all, I have been really busy with RL stuff. Honestly, just got made redundant, so obviously have a lot going on. I am sharing that bit of personal news, just so I can be stopped being tagged into posts and stuff. I am fine however, and I have a few things already in the pipe line so will bounce back from this OK, just have more to worry about then who is going for what at this stage.

Cheers.
WTF did management find about your :poo: on Kitty Litter Park (too small to be called a stadium!) on their time whilst you were supposed to be working?!? :thumbsu::eek:

Heard somewhere on radio last night that Geelong have tried to get Brad Crouch!

Not sure what they would be able to give up as they have to use the first round pick they got for Kelly in the draft this year.

Seems they are desperate to trade in experienced players at any cost. Hahahaha losing Kelly has hurt them a lot.
It says on the afl site that he is staying in Adelaide

Wouldn’t touch Bonar. GWS are really good at identifying which players are worth keeping and which players are worth pi**ing off (O’Rourke, Tyson, Treloar, etc.).

If they’re happy to send Bonar packing it probably means he’s a flop.

I read somewhere some think there are deficiencies in how he uses his body as a inside mid. Trouble is the 400 K

What the fu** is Cook on about the AFL not letting cats have extra cap room isnt in the interests of the game?

He just plays at another club now, he still plays AFL.
Ahhh that's the reason for GFC having...prolly helping out with TKelly's children...👍
CATS FANS CAN ZONE OFF IN SENSORY ROOM
Take a sneak peek inside the new Sensory Zone at Geelong’s home ground, designed to help families attend the footy without being overwhelmed by the big crowds...Paywall Block...

In all honesty If it came down to this I would prefer that we moved on Nank as much as I love the bloke and what he does he simply doesn’t have the upside and scope for improvement that Soldo and CCJ have as of right now especially in regards to CCJ’s ability to play forward and eventually play as that chf/ff role after jack finishes up

Although this could easily change
What CCJ and Soldo have is the age attractiveness. Soldo also has the links with his cousin. I think it depends on where they rate certain players especially CCJ and how accurate that is. Plenty of clubs out there needing a ruck if Nank is looking for more security. He has won two premierships to.

Its an interesting one. I don't know but if he did go it opens up a few list opportunities as well I suppose. Howard might come to RFC on the cheap but he looks set to go to the Saints.

If Nank was to go you would need to get something good back such is the current market for rucks. Then again should CCJ get traded to Adelaide for pick 4 and something back as another option?? If we get pick 4 might get Kemp. Not the worst option, I don't really know where CCJ is at and how its all going

IMHO probably not. Mature agers tend to either be gambles coming from another sport (e.g. Soldo - often very tall guys playing ruck) or OK but not great. Pick the best kid with what we have, and if someone mature who is really interesting is there then fine. But just stick with building and building.

In many cases there is a really good football reason the guy isn't in the AFL. Sometimes they develop late (Lambert), but often they just aren't that good (Aarts?).
I actually think the opposite. In many cases there is no good reason not to take a player.
You see all the time players who tick most boxes. That is they have the physical and athletic tools to play at the top level. then if they make good decisions use the ball well then they tick most boxes. Lastly if these players are winning club and league best and fairests or finishing very high in them and a taking on and beating blokes already on afl lists then you have a very good chance of finding a player.
There is always players out there who fit all of these criteria

I foresee this being an unpopular opinion.

In regards to CCJ, I will say that if it comes to the end of next season and he has played consistently above the level at VFL and hasn't had great opportunity at AFL level; well I couldn't begrudge someone for seeking better opportunity.

Also as good as Soldo was since Nank went down, and as much a warrior as Nank has been since he came down from Sydney, neither of those two are at a Grundy/ Nic Nat/ Gawn level and are so dynamic that they just have to be picked. My point is that if CCJ is as good as we think he will be, and he puts his best foot forward in pre-season, there's no reason why (or Balta and Chol for that matter) can't be right in the frame for senior selection early next season.

In terms of Bonar, he will come at a cost. Noting our tight salary cap and the cost of a second rounder, I'm of the view that we should steer clear considering he might not be in the best 30 at the club. That said, he does have a tantalising array of physical attributes.

My mail (and it really is a "heard it from my neighbors sisters boyfriends hairdresser" kinda deal) is that Bonar will be at either Essendon or wrapped up with Patton in a deal to the Hawks.
Its pretty simple CCJ projects fwd as a far better player than both Soldo and Nankervis. Somewhere along the line CCJ will have to get games and when that happens one or even both of the other two will miss out.

Menadue, Macintosh and packet of Monte Carlos for Freo’s 3rd.

🐯 losing out this year however side arrangement whereby Freo won’t stand in Fyfe’s way next year when he comes to his boyhood club for a 2 flags on peanuts $ and will wear the number 7 after butler leaving.

Nat Durant 🏆

In other news, anyone else fecking bored? Give me the DVD already

Nank is a whopping 18 months older than Soldo at 25 so im not sure the who 'age attractivness' exludes him. Typically your big fellas dont really develop into real good players until 26-27 anyways. So for an already above average ruckman i would be loath to be sending Nank anywhere.

Not sure why everyone is melting about doing nothing this trade period.

We are already bringing the best player available into our Premiership team and he costed us nothing.

His name is Alex Rance.
Plus one of the best young talents in the AFL in Sydney Stack.

I understand your point Dr T and would more often than not go that way. The key issue in any decision of this kind is recruiter judgement. Judgement is one of those intangibles that can't be taught. Alistair Mant described it as making a decision when you don't have all the information you need to be certain of what you are doing. If you had all that information, you have no excuses if you make a poor decision.

A couple of other variables are the tightness of our salary cap and the quality of our player list. My understanding is that players brought to a Club through the main draft are guaranteed considerably more money than those who arrive through the rookie or mid season drafts. Furthermore, with players who have been in the system for a while, you get to see what they can do in competition against mature bodies rather than guessing whether they will make it after a number of years of Club development.

We are currently in a unique position with quality players running deep into our VFL list and absolutely no wriggle room in the salary cap. Judicious Rookie listing might just be a temporary lifeline for us in 2019 to allow us the time to manage the payment requirements of our existing list. Who knows, we might discover another Sydney Stack or Marlion Pickett who will then force us to question the value of retaining higher paid but lesser performing players.

Its not just Nanks age versus other rucks.

Its Nanks age versus the next window with Stack/Graham/Chol, Ross, RCD/Balta, Naish etc..

Also in terms of age for CCJ you have Soldo doing his thing in the interim along with Balta's development, Chol and other ruck options participating.

This is all assuming CCJ will be effective as a AFL player at the highest level including ruck and forward which is not a given but I assume overseers have an idea

Rance should be travelling now so he targets coming back in the second half of 2020!!

This is the first question that should have been asked about Rance's progress after the GF!! How are his travel plans for 2020 and how do they synchronise with his recuperation to get back playing back end of 2020???

If correct due diligence was done Rance would be travelling now and I posted effectively this a few months back.

How appropriate travel methods synergise with prolonging Rances footy career and allows him to enhance other goals in his life with multi skilling techniques using new age technologies.

Furthermore can Rance promote RFC globally in his schedule, in a subtle way(not in the face), in a dormant marketing role could be explored as well if Rance is interested in expending his influence.

Daniel Jackson could also assist RFC globally in his overseas pursuits to if interested.

Rance can create a new start up based on fitness on the go for people keeping fitness levels up on the road and achieving fitness levels on the go. He can promote fitness centres/ovals/parks/fitness infrastructure he travels through as well formulating a network of quality life friends and alliances to assist him develop in the manner he desires. Why should travel be a barrier especially for someone like Rance especially if its for a good cause?? He should get a online support cast to assists him in these endeavours. Social media is big business these days!! The marketing thing is Rance would have a goal and timeline everybody would be watching on line if interested, getting back to a 2020 premiership after travel!! Could be quite interesting with some drama like an amazing race but Rance would have to benefit and enjoy it and allow it to support his other goals otherwise if it does not help Rance why do it??

The other thing is if we can help Rance build his revenue streams through social media on the go that might provide indirect salary relief from RFC/Rance contractual terms indirectly. Rance is a marketably guy, it could be foolish not to capitalise on his strengths and appeal while at the same time maximise his life satisfaction and prosperity and any influence legacy he desires.

Rance can create fitness programs, market fitness products and methods while travelling and promoting various aspects of locations in how it helps him achieve what he desires. He would need a support cast so it does not become too much and cramp his travel goals and other goals with his family. If it helps him fully recover from his injury why not??

Say what you will about the hawks moneyball strategy but one thing is for sure they always seem to get a great deal for themselves

Consistently pick up decent players for minimum cost
