I think we should grab Cody Weightman, just because the name on the teamsheet will bring back so many great memories every week I see it.

You know what the f in hbf'er stands for right?
He played both midfield & HBF.
He carried an ankle injury into the season which meant he played HBF for Vic Metro as captain.
It was only at the Knights that he played more midfield
I 100% agree with you, however if it was Richmond I would have expected our club to have offered a reasonable trade for a player that they want to pay $600-700k per year. I think what Gold Coast wanted for him was pretty reasonable in such an even draft pool.Like the Adelaide players, there is a good chance he is 100% leaving emotionally. Once you get there, there is no coming back. The Mcarthy one was interesting.. where everyone played hardball and he ended up unable to play AFL for a year.
We know Martin is not emotionally invested. He was happy to cruise around in the NEAFL for most of this season. Gold Coast, and Melbourne, don't want that. He has all the cards basically. It sucks for clubs, but the PA has for years pushed hard for players' freedom for movement. He will walk to Carlton I think unless the Sun's want to risk being seen as "the bad guy".
Personally I think it's gone too far. Clubs need more power to trade players. On the other hand, as an employee, once a contract has finished, you surely have the right to sit interviews at various employers and try to get work at a place you like.
We all have to agree, if it was Richmond, we'd be all saying, "he wants to be a Tiger, let him come where he wants to play".
Cheers, wasn't entirely sure how the category B rookie list worked, egg coming along nicely.Egg still has one year left as a CatB rookie. Likely we have to elevate him and Pickett at the end of next season.
Yes...and your point is so so soooooo...!?!??You know what the f in hbf'er stands for right?

The player we picked at that pick was the player they wanted too just for the added lolzI 100% agree with you, however if it was Richmond I would have expected our club to have offered a reasonable trade for a player that they want to pay $600-700k per year. Granted I find it hilarious that we got Houli for free in the PSD, but we offered a 3rd round pick for a player that wasn't getting a regular game and we weren't throwing around big dollars to him. Essendon said the 3rd round pick would be one they wouldn't use, but then used picks later than the one we offered, so they lied.
He earned his reputation as a midfielder at Knights and was played off half back for Metro because he had the versatility other midfielders didn’t. Could you see Wines playing off half back for Metro? He was probably a better option than the other pure flankers at the time, which also reinforces my point. He played both midfield & HBF.

Your club's first pick: Which young guns will be in the mix?
Draft guru Callum Twomey looks at the youngsters your club will draft with their first pickwww.afl.com.au
We have no holes. Best.
Wines and Viney played in the centre and they have no other position.

Wines is from Echuca. He played for Vic Country. He earned his reputation as a midfielder at Knights and was played off half back for Metro because he had the versatility other midfielders didn’t. Could you see Wines playing off half back for Metro? He was probably a better option than the other pure flankers at the time, which also reinforces my point.
Also, he was often referred to as a pure midfielder by some experts (Voss comparisons) while others referred to him as a midfielder/gen defender (Hodge comparisons).
At the end of the day, he wasn’t a pure flanker, which is the type I’d like us to stay clear of, particularly with our first pick. If you think we should use our first on someone who has not developed an inside game at under 18s, then fair enough. I would’ve thought there’s better value for flankers later on in the draft.
And finally, do we need another HBF? I wouldn’t have thought so. Houli, Stack, Short and Edwards all provided rebound throughout the season, while we have Naish and Egg-Smith developing. Menadue and Markov could also both do a job there. I think we’re good.
We have no holes. Best.
Hard going to back to back I rekon, just from a mental and hunger side of things for players . But If players have got the same drive again to win we will be extremely hard to beat .
Good callClub will pick whoever they think is the best available player. We have no obvious holes in our list. I thought we needed another ruckman, but what would I know (didn't expect Soldo - or the Soldering Iron as they called him during K-Rock call of GF - to become a genuine #1 ruckman)
snicker/snort....is this a mini McBean ?We have pick 20 don’t we
Good call
Best available with first, there’ll be a number of sliders, every club has a different view on where players sit. I think then we may look at kpd with our later pick and/or midfield depth
We definitely don’t need another ruckman. Soldo has come from the clouds this year and looks every bit an AFL ruckman
I think this years draft is pretty thin on kpf/kpd but having said that all our current backline (kp) group apart from Rance were later picks.draft the best mids and the ones that fail move to flanks
draft best key forward and ones that dont work move key back
drafting hbfs is dangerous
Looks like Mason. Passsnicker/snort....is this a mini McBean ?
Pick 19: Two flags in three years means the Tigers aren't short in any areas. Again they'll wait and see what gets through to their spot at the end of the first round. South Australian half-back Will Day has plenty of admirers and clubs have liked his development this season. Day has plenty of growth to come physically, but he can set the play up off half-back, he can shut down opponents, and intercept in the air.
Around the mark: Miles Bergman, Trent Rivers, Sam De Koning
