There's a guy on a Sydney site allegedly who has close contacts who's said that Swans have changed tack once Moore decided to stay with the Pies. If you believe other private views, he was always staying but trying to up his contract. BTW what Jon Ralph says there is that even though Pickering keeps saying he's about to sign, he wouldn't be surprised if the swingman still ends up at Sydney. Basically it's a rehash of what he wrote a few weeks ago.
Just lazy journalism

Is May really an upgrade on Dunn? The way I see it is that they are at a similar level and we will be paying a massive price for a sideways move

5 years younger, not coming off a knee reconstruction and our premiership window is opening.

Personally I see May as being in the Brian Lake mould as a player and the potential to be just as important moving forward.

I’m personally going to need more than that to justify the trade price especially when we still have a gaping hole at the other end of the ground.

Ooft I never thought of this as being like a Brian Lake trade. Lake was always my favourite of Hawthorn’s trades given his age and injury history at the time but he went and won three premierships. To me, May and Lake have very similar styles of play.

I’d like the option of playing Moore on the wing for some games . With the new kick in at 18m , I’d love to see Moore and Sidebottom isolated on one side of the ground vs any 2 other players in the AFL.

If given greater opportunity, Moore will dominate at being a link-up player like Sicily is at Hawthorn. Just let him run loose and intercept everything in midfield. Plus, he’ll offer more as a wingman than Aish and Mayne.

Going by Pickering that he is Close to Re-Signing.

Not sure IF That Means teams have Dropped Off or it was all a Media Work

My mail is that Sydney have gone cold. I suspect they fear another Sam Reid situation. They also dusted plenty of coin on Tippett for little return. They would not be very confident about their ability to manage Darcy's body in light of their own track record.

That sounds very plausible. Add Rohan and Johnson to that list!!!

And also lets not forget Franklin is now in the fat part of his contract.........possibly as high as 1.5 mil (mid-contract loaded)

They are having troubles holding on to players because of that as it is so throwing money at Moore would be a huge risk.

Not sure our track record on injuries is any better.

From everything I hear, Darcy's biggest problems may be mentally.

However, if we (and him) can sort out his injury issues, he will be a gun.

Or they were never interested, just as Tom Harley said publicly about 2 months ago

Steven May

“My understanding is Collingwood players have been told May is coming in and they’re going to play him in defence.

“What that means for Darcy Moore, we don’t know.”

Nice.

I actually think keeping Darcy would be good. Backline of May, Moore, Appleby, Howe, Maynard and Goldsack is incredibly strong. Then swap out Goldy with Scharenberg once he's back.

General question :

Would you be okay losing Langdon, if we kept Moore and acquired May?

I don’t think we could keep all 3. We would be stacked with defenders. Unless, they cut Goldsack. I doubt it.

With Goldsack and Dunn over 30 those 3 guys would be vital going forward. So I think we have to keep Langdon of May comes.

If we had to lose Langdon to get May and keep Moore, I would be all for it.

I understand the rationale. Murphy could eventually replace Langdon. We are more than likely defeating Quaynor and Kelly too.

We are drafting at least 2 defenders. So we would be insanely stacked if we kept Goldsack and Dunn.

If May does come and we retain Moore then i believe he should return to CHF.
Cox plays deep as possible and Moore works between the arcs and comes back with the flight of the ball ala Nick Riewoldt.

Langdon's form has been very good and we should definitely be retaining him, i'd be disappointed if we didn't.

Neither Goldsack or Dunn should be factored into any list management decisions that involves trading or cutting guys 27 years or younger.

Both the wrong side of 30, both have done ACL's and if they end up depth, so be it.

Doesn’t matter. They can wait their turn and develop in the 2’s. Our defence is stretched if we don’t keep them because each of those players listed are not durable.

I understand.

Schaz
Moore
Maynard
Murphy
Langdon
Crisp
Howe
Appleby
T.Brown
Quaynor
W.Kelly

May

Dunn
Goldsack

11 players in the top group. I think Howe would be the oldest player in that group. Relatively young group.
