It's not looking good that our direct competition for season 2019 in Tigers and Dees are going to significantly improve.

Lynch to Tigers
May and Kolodjashnij to Dees

Yes Dees will lose Hogan but I think they played some really good footy without him.

Seems we havent managed our cap as well as other contenders have.

So Marcus Adams to the Lions, and if May goes anywhere it seems Melbourne will be in a better position to get a deal done.

What a failure of a trade period this shaping up to be. Again.

Way too early to be wringing your hands in misery. Admittedly the trade period is a key point of focus that aids fans in transitioning to the off-season via a minor competitive spectacle but it's in no way definitive. Teams look to improve their lists but it's a very inexact science. Look back to our trade performance last season and consider how those we brought into the team contributed to a Grand Final berth compared with the draft. Lynch, Hogan, May or even Marcus Adams (whoever he is) may very well not deliver a premiership to their new club.

According to Tom Harley, no offer to Moore yet. But will decide “in the next couple of days whether to move forward or not”.

Ie next couple of days, we will hear if Darcy requests a trade to Sydney.
It’s sounding more and more likely the ball is in our court re Darcy. I think a deal will be done, Sydney will be waiting to see if he gets an agreement with us before they pursue. It sounds like they’ve been told he wants to stay, but meetings with us over the next day or two with his contract will decide. We simply must keep.

I wouldn’t worry too much about Melbourne, Steven May would be a good get for them, but Kolodjashnij is an average footballer.

Strange period for Melbourne, they’re really attractive but I think they lack a lot of class and polish. I think they’re further away than people generally believe.

And a lot less support from the midfield and other defenders than we would provide
Trade for show, draft for dough. Seriously, we are getting upset because Kade Kol is nominating Melb? Give me Crisp or Langdon any day of the week thanks. Perhaps May wants to come to Collingwood but deep down he knows that it will be too hard to get a trade done a la Chris Judd. It’s a big leap of faith to trade Hogan on the premise that Weideman can fill the void on the back of one game against an undersized defence. Melb might bring in May but are losing a potential 8-10 year star in Hogan. We simply don’t have players/picks to satisfy the GC. Resign Langdon and Moore, get Moore and Elliott fit and allow Dekka to do what he does best, draft future guns!

We had a very quiet trade period last year and it didn’t do us too much harm.

Agreed. Sounded like he was waiting for confirmation from Moore. Didn’t seem overly confident.

His skills/visions/decision making is fine with time and space. Apply and pressure and it's a very different story.

His hands I'll agree are pretty good.

Earlier in the year he may have stood out, but his last two months of the season were lackluster. Didn't feature in Oakleigh's bests in any of those last six matches - and rightly with his impact not there. Was he carrying something that you're aware of that inhibited his performance? He just looked slow and lacked impact.

Other recruiters I'm talking to are agreeing with your projected range for Quaynor and it's horrifying for such a limited player.

As I said before, he won't be inside my top 30 power rankings. It should be a hard pass if a first round bid comes for Quaynor.

I relatively find his scope to go through the midfield more interesting than what he shows down back as that type who can only play one phased of the game well at a time. As a defender he is just a role player and not one who does any one thing to an elite level. Hopefully he can make it as a midfielder - he shows he can get to the right positions and win it reasonably well on the odd occasion he has gone through there.

No I didnt hear that he was carrying something. I dont take a huge amount of interests in the 'bests' particularly with a side like Oakleigh who were so dominant and 'winners' all over the field. I just see a bloke who was calmer, cleaner and more skilled than the others. I probably have a different view in traffic insomuch as think he was clean albeit he does often clear stoppages / traffic by hand. Be interesting on my rankings at 20 not sure who else I would take. Jordan Clark is a player I really like and if there was a midfielder with class would look at that as an alternative.

Snoop really silly question what height is Quaynor?
What position is he likely best suited?

And do you see him and Kelly potentially be senior players next season?

Isaac would be around the 183cm and I think he is best suited to a BP / HB with scope to play higher. I think there is a pathway for Isaac to play as he is a decent size but only on basis they dont get someone else to come in and play there. Kelly I dont. He will need some time.

Lol, Adams has played less games than Reid in the last three years. It's brilliant news we didn't commit to some ridiculous contract with him like Brisbane has.

Wasn't that a fizzer (at the time)! I sincerely hope it was due to having bigger plans this year, rather than the salary squeeze.

But ultimately the recruiting department were shown to have gotten it right.

Come to Collingwood, were will have to pay overs to get and keep you. Go to Hawthorn, Richmond, were we all take a cut to get you in and become successful.

What is everyone’s hunch on the $$$ we can we realistically offer May in light of resigning De Goey this year and if we pay more to keep Langdon and Moore at the Pies? Surely we can’t have spent all of our Lynch warchest.

It’s more interesting this year’s trade speculation and how not getting someone will damage our finals if not GF aspirations.

Weren’t a lot kicking and screaming over Schache, Saad, Stringer and Devon Smith?

As far as I know, all but Smith were just serviceable.

Whereas, we just played off in the GF without any of them.

Our full list we would have had a better crack.

Now it’s onto Ned’s outlaws to land us some Gems.
