Any love for Billy Longer (26) or Lewis Pierce (24)? Good back up, even as a rookie.
Did Longer ever play a great game? We should be trying to find another Mihocek in a State league instead

Is Longer better than Max Lynch? I'd rather Lynch than Pierce that's for sure.Any love for Billy Longer (26) or Lewis Pierce (24)? Good back up, even as a rookie.
They said he Agreed to join Richmond the year before and they won the Flag and we where bottom 6 and not looking like Climbing back up the Ladder any time soon
He wont be cheap for the pies but the blues would get him for a packet of chips
Ricky Nixon reckons Aiden Bonar linked to us.
We need a young midfielder, Pendles Beams Sidey and Wells nearing the end but agree, key position players a priority.I think we were very keen on him in his draft year. Don’t know why we want him, he’s just another midfielder.

Tomlinson is possibly leaving GWS isn’t he? Would be a good get to cover constantly injured tall defenders
No, we were after him early. Our problem was that our GM of football who built up the relationship with him got shafted by us and went to Richmond...Richmond didn’t look near it the year before the flag.
Our issue is we went after him too late when Richmond had already done a lot of work on him
He's an even bigger front runner than Hoskin-Elliott. Leave him to Carlton.Sam Gray has asked to explore other opportunities, really good numbers for a small forward, on his day capable of a bag of four and 30 disposals, wonder if he wants a flag? averages almost 17.4 disposals, a goal a game and 3.5 tackles, 28 next year

Everyone says that about forwards but it's the worst job on the groundHe's an even bigger front runner than Hoskin-Elliott. Leave him to Carlton.
Tomlinson is rumoured to want to stay at GWS/

Josh Bruce would be a good get especially if we lose Elliott, I'd do a straight swap.
Pity for him he’ll never be a Premiership player now. Could’ve come to Collingwood and retired as a Magpie legend and Premiership player.Well it can. Howe and WHE are a case in point. I think we were unlucky with Lynch that he is good mates with Prestia and the Tigers has the good sense to VFL list his sister.
Only his calf musclesJesus they must be Bad as ours Been Horrendus.
Hasn't he been on Drugs?
Don’t let Broomy go until Grundy is resigned.Murray and Noble are both rookie listed. Happy for Noble, I think he’ll be a very good player, not Murray. He needs to earn his way back like Thomas did if the club decides to retain him.
No issue with Broomhead being rookied, but I have a feeling his papers have been stamped.
Any chance we could engineer a trade for Martin? Or does his remunerative asking price rule us out? If we traded two players for one, could we squeeze him in the cap. They’ll have a stack of draft picks to get rid of by the time trade week is over. If we want to get back into this draft, they would be where I would start.
I thought we’d been into him for a couple of years.Richmond didn’t look near it the year before the flag.
Our issue is we went after him too late when Richmond had already done a lot of work on him
After signing Coniglio on 7 yrs at a mill per year, and having Kelly, Cameron, Davis, Ward, Greene, Whitfield, Hopper, Himmelberg and Taranto on their list, they must have some serious cap issues coming. Kelly and Cogs on big, big money, Cameron must be too. That takes a big bite out of the cap. I expect they will have to shed some high level players in the next year or so. Patten will relieve some cap pressure but I’m not sure he would’ve been on huge dollars given his injury run. I’d love to target Whitfield. He was a Pies supporter too, not that it means much because Flynch was too.GWS would want a top 10 pick from us, would trade him to Greater Western Carlton for pick 60.
If Bonar is on 400k I can’t believe he wasn’t part of their salary cap clearance sale last year.
He’s the height of Roughy and 106kgs. Big guy and had great mits, always has been a good mark. Never played the level of footy at Saints as he did at Essendon but he turns 28 in October. I know he’s had his dramas, but if you could get him without giving up a lot and could pay him unders (Saints May pay some of his wage), he could be a good pick up. Doesn’t come without risk so it would need to be a good deal.We should get Carlisle
I’ve got to agree. I remember him playing with GC and thinking this guy is just a super talent. Awesome player.Negligent not to do our due diligence on Harley you say? I'd guess it's going to be a long and exhaustive cost benefit analysis that might have an executive summary somewhere along these lines:
Due Diligence on Harley Bennell:
Done nothing on the field for 5 years: check
Done plenty off the field: check
Injury prone older player: check
Unprofessional: check
Drugs: check
Mental health issues: check
Swanny approves: check
Did I mention injury prone?: Check.
Welcome to Collingwood Harley.
And a heap of delistees frees up cap space quickly. Not sure where to put this, but this seems like the most appropriate spot. How would people like this list going into 2020?:
Scott Pendlebury Travis Varcoe Chris Mayne Ben Reid Dayne Beams Jeremy Howe Jordan Roughead Steele Sidebottom Mason Cox Josh Thomas Jamie Elliott Adam Treloar Rupert Wills Will Hoskin-Elliott Taylor Adams Jack Crisp Brodie Grundy Tom Langdon Matthew Scharenberg James Aish Darcy Moore Jordan De Goey Tom Phillips Brayden Maynard Ben Crocker Brayden Sier Callum Brown Josh Daicos Jaidyn Stephenson Tyler Brown Nathan Murphy Isaac Quaynor Will Kelly Atu Bosenavulagi Pick 33 ??? Retire/delist/trade - Wells, Dunn, Goldsack, Greenwood
Re-sign - Varcoe (1 year), Reid (1 year), Elliott (3 years), Wills (2 years), Crocker (1 year), Sier (2 years), Lynch (2 years, Senior List upgrade), Madgen (1 year, Rookie List), Broomhead (1 year, Rookie List), Noble (1 year, Rookie List), Murray (1 year, Rookie List)
Rookie List upgrades - Mihocek (Pick #64, National Draft), Lynch (Pick #69, National Draft)
In this, it's a choice between Varcoe, Reid and Greenwood, with Greenwood not being recontracted. Just feel like the former two have more value and are less replaceable going forward.
People might see the retention/resigning of some of those blokes as controversial, and the lack of draft picks and new talent potentially coming in as stagnation. However, I'd like to see us somewhat "stay put" for a year (particularly with out younger players), and try and wring as much as possible out of the guys we've got. This also gives us a number of potential delistees at the end of 2020, when we have further National Draft picks available that we will need to accommodate for.
