Guys id look at trading in (McDonald, Brown, Richards, Sexton) Then we should have a top 10 pick come in and Reef as well for the future.

Not sure on McDonald's and Sextons value

Maynard - Roughead - Richards
Crisp - McDonald - Howe
Treloar - Pendles - Quaynor
Grundy - Adams - Sidebottom
Mihocek - Moore - Stephenson
Sexton - Brown - DeGoey
Moore one of the best beckman in the game, need to leave him there, plays his best footy behind the ball.We would be more cooked without him back.
McDonald is average at best and has barely done anything for a year or more. No chance getting Richards off the dogs.

Hogan and McCarthy is straight up no from me. just no. We have enough of field issues.

wright isn’t worth 2nd round AND players, despite his contract he’s not playing so his value isn’t that high. Gold Coast won’t just let him go, but they def want to salary dump. Late second for me.

brown is tricky, he’s been dropped, injured, not sure what he’s worth. Obviously huge goal kicker so north would want late first. Tough to know if he wants out, lots to play out To work out value. Polec to me has absoultely no upside on Phillips, none. Not interested in him at all.

there are a lot of options I’ve mentioned before other than brown, wright, Cameron, as we need both KPF and KPD, Allir Allir, McDonald, finlayson, schache, Brennan Cox etc. just may require adjusting the goal posts a bit
Wright will definitely require more than a second round, he will be sought after.
Polec similar to Phillips, I put him in as I think Phillips would interest Gold Coast to get the wright deal done.
No hope at Cameron. he will want a fortune. no thanks as good as he is.
Allir solid, finlayson in and out can be lazy, Shache sleeps with the light on. absolutely no way. cox looks good not sure his status.

I think this is a cop out everyone says he had x picks at GWS and then Carlton but facts are GC had same picks but pissed them up a wall vs his (GWS) who made a team most thought was going to be multi flag team (coaching let down here).

Both teams had multiple players taken from them so dont go there. I think SOS should get more Kudos then he does.
GWS board weren’t overly enthused with Silvagni’s draft strategy so they intervened. If not he wouldn’t have even had the hits he secured.

I wouldn't blame him if he wanted to leave.
Let's face Mihocek proved in his first season he was a capable AFL player.

Yet the club choose to keep him on the rookie list and not promote him (presumably for cap reasons) for 3 seasons. He is worth so much more than a minimum salary.

What salary is he on?

We need to reward this bloke and not shaft him any longer...3 year deal, promote to senior list and pay him the $ he deserves.

You can pay rookie listed players whatever you negotiate. I’d be surprised if he wasn’t already on north of $300k.

Do a raffle for club members;
- $5 entry, enter and many times as you like
- winner gets Hines job
- condition is all picks have to be based on poll results from bigfooty

Not even kidding, half the posters here have called out names pre draft for the pies picks that have proven to be better selections.

I’d bet they’ve also called out names pre-draft that haven’t done as well as Hine. Players like Ellis and Laverde come to mind. Just shows nobody gets it right 100% of the time.

Well actually they didn't have the same picks. GWS had more picks in their first draft and also more pre-draft selections who were all rated extremely highly.

While GWS certainly had better concessions it was as much about the strategy for building the team the actual recruiting. GC went a different way, got it wrong. Not sure how much say SOS had in directing that strategy.

He's solid, but how good is he actually? Most goals he's kicked in a year is 16, and he's woefully inaccurate

Poor work rate according to Saint supporter mates.

I am a bit of a Sexton fan. Think he is under rated. For some reason he is in and out of the Suns lineup. At the right price I think we should consider.

IMO GWS definitely had the right strategy, accumulate top end midfielders with high trade value, and when they demand high salary, trade them for high picks and keep this pipeline going.

Their real problem is talent acquisition and list balance. Had SO MANY opportunities to land a decent ruck, we were even about to spoonfeed them one (Witts) and they just keep making the mistake over and over again (also didn't draft Grundy at 14 when they had I think 5 picks in the first round that draft??).

Their actual national draft selections also left a lot to be desired. Although, had they been able to trade further picks, this strategy would've worked even better.

The population of our zone in Barkley is like 10-15k so not a big pool for talent, so I'm not expecting there to always be strong players coming from the zone. I also reckon covid will impact our ability to interact up there, a lot of Aboriginal Communities are closed right now because of the risks. The NT borders are closed still also.

I think the quality of the NT zone allocated was balanced against the metro zone allocated. We don’t seem to be getting much out of Barkley but we’re doing okay out of Oakleigh.

I'm not complaining. I think the club is privledged to be involved in an NT academy. It's bigger than just producing AFL footy players in my mind.
